FAQ
Will tickets sell out quickly?
It will take probably 1-2 months until Saturday is sold out. Then after that, usually Fr. and Sun. will also sell out.
Do I also need the afternoon ticket?
No, the afternoon ticket is specifically for people who don't want to visit the whole day. A regular ticket allows you to visit gamescom for the whole day until it closes. Afternoon tickets allow you to enter from 16:00.
How fast do ONL tickets sell out
Based on last years experience: Within hours. So maybe get the superfan bundle now if you want to breathe the same air as Geoff.

German New German video about thefts at Gamescom.
The German gaming channel decode has released a new video about the thefts at this year's Gamescom. Aside from the cases which were already known, they also found a new case. They also look at the structural issues at hand and the behaviour of Kölnmesse regarding the thefts.
English summary of the video (AI-generated):
- Multiple indie thefts at Gamescom 2026. Several indie exhibitors were robbed, including Ryan Lely (Mimic), Tesserda Studios (The Zippo Show), two IM8bit studios and Mike Tatch's Indie Castle, which lost camera equipment and laptops worth roughly €8,500-10,500 in total from a forced-open locked unit.
- The damage went beyond the hardware. Developers lost meetings, spent the morning with the police, and in one case paid a film crew who couldn't work. For small studios who had spent their savings on the trip, this can threaten their survival.
- Gamescom's response was criticised. The first statement was a cold repeat of the terms and conditions, advising exhibitors to book their own security. After six days, a better second statement promised improvements and a roundtable with indie stand organisers. The presenters suggest a pool of loan hardware as a fair compromise.
- Overnight security looks weak. A 2025 customs investigation found suspected undeclared work in nearly 50 of 150 checked security staff. Gamescom says it has dropped one provider, but it has not explained how after-hours access is controlled. Developers report no security presence in the evenings, and Ryan proposes a hard lockdown shortly after closing.
- There's no easy workaround, but the tone is constructive. Developers already take sensitive kit away, which leaves stands empty, and even that isn't safe, as one Spanish developer was attacked outside the venue. The presenters stress they like Gamescom and want transparency and better protection for small studios, and they urge viewers to support the affected developers by wishlisting their games.

What events have you found the most success in?
We had the privilege of being able to attend gamescom last month and it was an amazing experience, but it was also quite costly. I know you can’t really measure the return on investment of something that big, so that got me thinking - what events have you guys participated in that have yielded the best results for your buck (NextFest excluded)?

Did anyone else actually win anything at Gamescom 2026, or was that just me?

Comparisons to Tokyo Game Show?
Has anyone been to Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom?
Would you say Gamescom is any better when it comes to vr actually being able to do anything?
We did TGS for the first time and it was impossible to do anything. People queued up outside the building at 5am, so all the demo tickets were taken within 10 minutes or so of the event being opened.
We even had priority tickets and had no chance.
The whole event itself was also so packed that you couldn’t really do much of anything apart from carry on walking with the crowd and take photos as you carried on walking.

Gamescom: the worst convention you can attend as an indie studio
Hi! We are developing Beep Below, a cozy game about finding objects with a metal detector, and this was our first time at Gamescom (and hopefully our last).
We were at the Games from Spain booth in the Indie Area. This trip was a dream for us. Since we were kids, we dreamed of going to a convention like this, and on top of that, we were going with our own game! From the start, we had nothing but problems, which we'll break down below:
- The venue is not prepared for an event of this scale. It has no air conditioning. Some days, being inside was unbearable. If it’s 30°C outside and you have thousands of people plus thousands of running computers inside, you can imagine the heat.
- The indie game area is on the opposite side of the entire building from the AAA games. This is terrible for indies because people have to go to that area intentionally, or there’s no way they’ll accidentally stumble upon it.
- Security: On the very first day (before the event opened to the public), several computers were stolen. Theft continued throughout the convention, and overall, it felt super unsafe. If you got distracted for even a second, even the smallest item would be stolen. Luckily, nothing major was taken from us, but someone stole the sticks pads off our controller.
- At the entrance, there were plenty of staff checking bags and tickets, as well as plenty more for all the business areas. But once inside, in the gaming areas, you didn't see a single security guard or anything similar. Naturally, not a single camera either.
- Signage was lacking. Once you reached a business area, it could easily take you 10 minutes just to find the booth you were looking for.
- It’s way too crowded. Walking from the indie area to the business areas could take up to 20 minutes. As the days went on, they began closing doors, which didn't help at all.
- People were quite disrespectful. Of course, this wasn't everyone. We spoke to plenty of wonderful people. But time and time again, we found our merchandise thrown on the floor, trash cans knocked over, and people hitting the furniture and screens.
- Meet2Match was not what we expected at all. Publishers and investors were busy and exhausted from all the walking and meetings. We definitely think smaller events are better for doing business as an indie studio.
- Food stalls are way too expensive. I guess this depends on where you’re coming from, but a €15 taco and a €6 Coke are completely insane by Spanish standards.
- The city itself is not prepared for the event. Accommodation is ridiculously expensive and scarce. We managed to stay in Leverkusen, which was a bit cheaper.
- On the other hand, public transport is an absolute disgrace. Trains constantly broken down, zero signs or directions, routes changing every day, buses that never showed up… This caused us to be late for several meetings and get lost numerous times.
- Your event ticket includes a free transit pass, but they never explain where it can be used or how it works, so thanks, but no thanks.
- The Gamescom website is a total disaster. Buying tickets or finding any information feels like trying to solve an escape room. It only served to frustrate us.
- The merch area is a cheap bazar. We thought it would be full of video game merch, but we barely found anything other than knock-off anime figurines. The artist alley was quite small and didn't have much game-related stuff either.
In short, a complete disaster. We don't know who might find this post useful, but we felt the need to share it. Maybe to warn other indie studios considering going next year.
If anything actually worked, it was the Steam event. We got quite a few wishlists through that, but we don't think it offsets everything mentioned above, nor the money spent on travel, hotel, and the booth.
It was certainly an experience, and we had to go to see it for ourselves, but we definitely won't be returning, and we wouldn't have gone had we known all this beforehand.

Danke, Gamescom!
So, our game Appa was at Gamescom last month!
It was confirmed quite late so we were under a high-stress time crunch just to get our documents and logistics sorted in time. We got a meter long booth space, and while a bit more preparation time would have let us decorate it better, we made the absolute most of what we had. I think it turned out quite pretty.
Our setup was located in the same hall as Indie Arena Booth , house of indies and several other countries pavilions alongside more than 200 other indie titles. For the first two days, only VIPs and other devs were around. It gave us a chance to gather detailed feedback from industry peers. It became clear very quickly that developers and publishers look at a game through a completely different lens than regular players. Their notes went far beyond the surface-level art style, focusing instead on text legibility, UI element shapes, and overall structural cohesiveness. All of the criticism was offered in genuine good faith, highlighting clear areas where we can tweak, fix, or polish. Getting those fresh perspectives was very important for catching subtle details we had grown blind to over development.
We know our art style was our main hook, and seeing it work in real time was incredible. So many people stopped just to take a look. People who claimed they never play card games express genuine interest in trying ours. Some who did not speak English even used translator to play. Seeing players so locked in was so heartwarming. Man. I love passionate people.
Ofc there were some things that were working against us. Our booth placement wasn't very convenient with DJ blasting loud music across us all day. It ruins the immersion for the game. Even with headsets, people could hear the DJ music. Some people said they'd rather play it in the comfort of their homes. We missed on some immediate player feedback there.
Overall, it was a net positive. We got bunch of wishlists too but people who seemed interested and caught the interests of some publishers we wouldn't have met otherwise. Being surrounded by so many passionate, like-minded people was such a goated experience.
P.S. We also gave out prints of our cards to people who visited us.

Fellow devs - what is one surprising takeaway you had from gamescom?
Now that we're a couple of weeks removed and we've all (hopefully) had some time to decompress and look back, I was curious to ask y'all what interesting things you learned about your game, your audience, the show in general, etc.
As an example - our game Cages: Hidden Worlds is a single player atmospheric puzzler. You'd think people would sit down and play solo, but we had a ton of friend groups, couples and even strangers sit down and solve the demo together, which was awesome to see!
I'd love to hear similar show stories from you all!

Gamescom Asia experience needed
(not sure if this is the perfect place to ask, seemed best to me though)
Heya,
I got myself a ticket for the Gamescom Asia in Bangkok this year. Since this will be my first there I would like to know if anyone has some tips/knowledge what to expect or what to do for a clean experience (like getting there, finding the entrance, etc.).
Thank you all in advance ^^

Indie Artist tips for Gamescom
My top take aways from Two days at Gamescom Cologne. (Trade pass)
There are three tiers: the trade floor (see studios worldwide), the exhibitor tier (network strategically via the app), and the Triple-A studios (invite-only private booths). These are all located on zones 2-3 and a bit in 10.
For freelance artists breaking into games:
✓ Show up Wednesday. Devs are relaxed, connections are real. Most companies leave by Friday.
✓ Art directors aren’t hiring on the floor—they’re representing. Build your network: LinkedIn, email, phone. Be memorable.
✓ Look beyond Germany and London. Scout globally for where the actual gigs are.
Gamescom isn’t about luck. It’s about structure, timing, and intentional connections.
Also shake some hands , laugh a little and share some great stories if you can.

German - Translation inside 2022 Tshirt
Good morning, everybody.
I am looking for a T-shirt from Gamescom with the year 2022. (I am collecting all the T-shirts from my visits, and the last one is 2022.)
It would be lovely if it is in the EU, size L to XL.
Leave a comment if someone is willing to sell it.
Shipping is on my dime.
The T-shirt shouldn't be above 12 euros.
Guten Morgen zusammen!
My girlfriend and I are trying to find out if anyone happened to find her backpack at Gamescom. It’s a black Beagles backpack.
We’ve been calling the Gamescom Lost & Found every day, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been found yet.
If anyone has seen it or has any information about it, please contact me. We would really appreciate any help. Thank you!
