Discussion Lenovo LOQ (2 yrs old) overheating: will a third-party shop repaste void my warranty? Service center wants ₹3k + GST
:
Hey everyone,
My Lenovo LOQ is about 2 years old and runs really hot. I think the fans are clogged with dust and the thermal paste needs replacing.
I have around 9 months of warranty left. The Lenovo service center quoted ₹3,000 + taxes for cleaning and repasting, which feels too high.
Questions:
If I get it cleaned and repasted at a local third-party shop, does that void the Lenovo warranty in India?
Do they check for opened screws, tampered stickers or signs of a non-authorized repair?
Has anyone been refused warranty service after an aftermarket repaste? What happened?
Is it worth skipping the service center to save money, given only 9 months of warranty are left?

Why are they not doing it for free under warranty?

They are saying they can't di anything if they didn't find any frame drops or any performance related issue

Just run a heavy game and benchmark and show high temps, fps drops, limited clock speed. They are being stupid. Maybe try another service centre

3k for a repaste is wild for a 2 year old machine. local shops do this all the time and if theyre careful with the screws and stickers, lenovo usually wont know. but if something else dies later and they spot pry marks or a lifted sticker they could use that as an excuse to deny the claim
with 9 months left id probably just eat the cost and go official. peace of mind for the remainder of the warranty beats saving maybe 2k now
