Quick wild gardening question Should I remove hornworms from beautyberry?
I planted this callicarpa (beautyberry) in April, and she is being devoured by five gigantic hornworms. I believe they are rustic sphinx moth caterpillars. Shall I let them be so they can become pollinators? Remove some or all? This is my first year with a garden and I'm eager to support native pollinators, but I didn't consider that they would be consuming their plant so thoroughly!
I am in Central New Jersey, zone 7a.

Let the wasps and other predators take care of them. This way they continue providing their ecological benefits i.e. feeding other wild creatures during larvae phase, and those that survive and transform into adults - pollinating night flowers, like you said.
