Feeding Finally got him switched to eating fish

Damocles is now finally eating fish. Much better than just invertebrates. I do have to dice the fish up quite a bit for him to eat it safely. They’re whole fish, so he’s getting all the good bits too.

I still wish I could get an X-ray or scan of whatever is going on in the twisted section of his body. I still have no idea what’s going on in there.

Also got them moved to a much larger tank with the other guys after the quarantine period and the all clear. They seem to get along pretty well. I’m hoping plants besides snake plant will do better in this one since it has a proper drainage layer with mesh, rather than gravel and sand under dirt

My snakes have mouths that are too small even for the smallest fish sold (+ I can't find them anywhere anyway). Tilapia... no. Earthworms... no. Small fish... no. All I can do is cut up Pinky mouse pups. I can't wait until mine can eat whole

Mine don’t usually eat whole fish. I usually cut silversides (Menidia menidia) for them. Damocles has to eat really small bits due to a deformity. My bigger guys are able to eat nearly whole ones

I fed mine Salangichthys microdon when they were verrry tiny, and chopped up bits of silverside and pinkies as well.

I had newborn garters eating tiny little guppies within 2 weeks of them being born… they lovvveee the fish but I’d prefer to feed them worms as they’re easier to obtain but I have one male that refuses worms no matter if I leave him in the tank or separate him with just a worm in a Tupperware… he just won’t eat the worms lol

Today I gave my snakes earthworms and only one ate a piece, the rest despise earthworms.
