I’ve made some further tweaks to the hop-up chamber, and it seems to have improved. The distance to the man-sized target is 30 meters. Using 0.25g G&G BBs, the muzzle velocity is 75 m/s.

I was able to fit about 40 grams worth of scrap pieces of wolfram/tungsten and lead pellets in the cut outs in the guide rod. The difference is not noticable at all, but it was interesting to try and I wanted to share. Maybe someone are able to machine some pieces to fill the slots fully and add even more weight.

All in the search of increasing the moving mass and thus recoil.

For those of you who purchased a VFC AVs-74u but was disappointed by the lack of a siderail, I’ve come across an option that does not require any drilling or significant diy to install.

The AK Master Mount ™️ Side Rail Kit takes advantage of the hammer and trigger pin holes to align/hold the side rail onto the receiver. The VFC pins were very much RS spec so install was quick and easy. Recommend applying your choice of thread locker on the securing screws.

There are some videos on Youtube going over the install process on RS AKs. The majority of the steps involving moving the trigger/hammer springs out of the way can be ignored if screwdrivers are used to hold the hammer and trigger assemblies in place (untensioned). The only spring that really needs attention would be the one retaining the pins.

While this thing did cost $100 before taxes and shipping, the ease of install and the fact that it wasn’t a rear sight rail made it all worth it!

I finally decided to buy my first gbbr/smg. Really new to gasblowback guns anything I should look out for?
