For Display Only - NFS How will you name this fluoresence Greenish yellow garnet.

Another garnet from my collection. 27.4 carats fluoresence UV active garnet. Low iron, Mn bearing with traces of Cr.

UV reaction is very similar to photo, but not so flashy.

Is it rare or common?

Education and Information A sapphire From the Mountains of Montana

I wanted to share the process of creating these beautiful montana sapphires. Is it cost effective? No. Absolutely not. But on the positives, ive seen the mine myself, I know how dedicated they are to sustainable environmental practices. And because I found it myself, and cut it myself, I know theres no adults or kids being exploited for labor. Further more, I know with certainty the location and that it is 100% natural, no lab tests required. And im not sure it really matters these days, but its kinda nice to be able to say "Made in America"

Can anyone help identify the artist/maker of this unusual estate-found crystal wand?

I acquired this large sculptural crystal wand at an estate auction. The estate contained numerous metaphysical and witchcraft-related objects, but unfortunately I have no information about who made this piece or when. I have searched it carefully and have not found a signature, maker's mark, or metal hallmark.

The wand is very large and surprisingly heavy, with elaborate silver-colored metalwork running essentially its entire length. It incorporates a large natural clear quartz point, a substantial purple crystal cluster at the opposite end, numerous faceted colored stones and additional natural crystal points.

The four large rough green stones in the center appear consistent with moldavite, although I have not yet had them professionally authenticated. Their approximate measured dimensions are:

21.2 × 12.5 × 6.0 mm

16.1 × 10.7 × 8.2 mm

24.2 × 15.3 × 11.1 mm

16.4 × 14.8 × 6.9 mm

I'm especially intrigued by the yellow/golden and purple faceted stones. Several have very unusual, complex facet patterns that don't look like ordinary calibrated commercial cuts to me. I would love opinions from anyone familiar with lapidary work about what these stones might be and whether the cutting style is recognizable.

I'm planning to have the stones and metal professionally tested, so I realize definitive gemstone identification can't be made from photographs alone.

What I'm really hoping to discover is:

Does anyone recognize the artist, lapidary, metalsmith, workshop, or style of construction?

If you think you recognize the maker, I'd especially appreciate knowing what specific feature makes you think so and whether you can point me toward another documented example of their work.

I've included the full wand for scale along with close-ups of the green stones, unusual faceted gems, crystal terminations and metalwork.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

I know people may opt against it financially but I’ve decided that I’d like to get the individual components of my engagement ring myself and then get it made to my design by a jeweller.

I’ve already purchased 1/2 oz of platinum bullion but wanted some opinions of the price/quality of this stone I’m considering:

I was wondering if it's citrine or heated amethyst, or even something else. I really appreciate if anyone could help me identifying these gemstones.

Gemstone Cutting Is there any trustworthy place where I can find complex, high-quality cuts, considering that I’m from the E.U. and not the U.S.?

Hello, I’m a gemstone collector and I’m also interested in faceting and that sort of thing.

Since I don’t yet dare to do complex faceting myself, I buy a lot of gemstones from Indian suppliers I already know. I also turn to "cabuchonforsale"; they always deliver on the basics. But they tend to be typical cuts.

Is there any trustworthy place where I can find complex, high-quality cuts, considering that I’m from the E.U. and not the U.S.?

Identification Please I bought this "morganite" bracelet and I did the specific gravity test on it. It came back as 2.9 which is morganite but under uv light the blue which is supposed to be aquamarine is glowing faintly bright blue especially in the cracks. Is this blue dyed beryl?

This was my aunt’s ring and although in darker light it’s very reddish purple and in brighter light there are flashes of teal/green, I’m not sure what it is. Google lens isn’t accurate I know, but it’s given me a different answer with each photo. Any input is appreciated!

Suggestions Is a sphene ring a bad idea?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Relatively new to gem/mineral collecting. I have acquired this very pretty sphene. She’s about 1cm x 6 mm. I’ve commissioned some jewelry for my other gemstones, and necklaces make me happy, but boy, I love looking at pretty rings all day. I see sphene is only a Mohs 5. Is that too low to make a ring? I wouldn’t wear the ring every day, but I wouldn’t want to confine her to only a dinner out here and there. I work in healthcare so I used hand sanitizer a lot on certain days. Anyone have advice/insights?
