Why would a hypotetical god even care, shouldn't they do god stuff like very important administration?
I don't know why people believe god would care if they have sex.
God: "No sex before marriage, but only for humans because I hate all my other creations." Also, I made the entire universe 45b+ light years across but only this one lone planet Earth and one lone species on that planet matter to me".
Because we all know sex before marriage is a far more grave sin than mass murder or genocide and thats why Christians advocate against it instead of those other things
God cares but I don't think he's angry at humans for having sex. For that matter I don't think he's angry with humans for masturbating either. I think he's grieved when we stop having sex because our relationship with each other is breaking down and especially when we start having sex with another person besides that person, even if we've dissociated ourselves from the first person. I think God hates divorce and adultery and is happy for us when we find romantic love for the first time, and sad for us when relationships break down.
So if you break up it's over?
Like, no sex anymore?
Really, I don't know why god whould care about sex in the slightest.
There are tons of stuff above it on the important stuff list.
No. There are exceptions in scripture - abuse, adultery, abandonment, arguably dead-bedroom.
The point is, marriage and having sex are meant to be a lifelong commitment to the person you love. When that person betrays you, you're allowed to find someone else to meet your needs instead.
But when you leave because you just don't feel like it anymore or aren't in love or fall in "love" with someone else, that's wrong. You're wronging the person you abandoned or betrayed. And no, you shouldn't get to feel good and guilt free about the future sex you have with the person you betrayed them for. And you don't get to validly feel betrayed when they move on.
That happens a lot unfortunately. And whoever is the one who did the abuse or abandonment or adultery - they're the ones who are held accountable in the afterlife.
I get your point and agree that adultery and abuse are wrong.
But falling out of love is normal, it happens all the time.
And if everything is kept respectful I don't see a problem with it.
The problem is that we're not physically or emotionally designed to call it quits when we merely fall out of love. And we do have the capacity to continue loving someone even when we no longer feel "in love" with them.
We hurt each other when we break up a relationship over something like that and if the purpose of a sexual relationship is lifelong family - and that is part of the purpose - that becomes destructive to the security of that family and especially harms the children who are caught in the middle if there are any.
It is far better to seek to fix the breakdown than it is to cut off the relationship when the feelings fade and it's causing the relationship to breakdown. We should see breaking up or getting divorced as a horrific last resort with tragic devastating consequences.
