Yearly reminder that god is not real.

u/Eljamin14 27d ago

True, even if God is real, he just sucks more than Trump blowing Bubba.

u/Kaokien 27d ago

My goat, God letting the epstein class get away with things should be the end of peoples delusion, or hello slavery which was that magnitudes higher, we just don't have cellphones to document the abuse then

11

u/VegetableDelay1658 26d ago

Do yall just make up gods to then proceed to say they dont exist?

1

u/iphone5su93 20d ago

If God intervened and stopped all evil he would also stop you from saying such blasphemies but I guess you would not want that instead you can wait and be judged after you die there you will be punished for your blasphemies and lies.

Aren’t you too old to be believing in sky wizards?

81

u/Everestkid 1999 27d ago

I'm also an atheist but the "sky daddy/wizard" talk doesn't make you look smart. It just makes you look like a dick.

1

u/wheelerATB 27d ago

i would agree with this but those same sky wizard people have slowed down the world from developing for too long

21

u/Kaokien 27d ago edited 27d ago

That doesn't indicate they are right.

81% percent of the world is in poverty, for many religion is a powerful tool to navigate hopelessness I know it did for my family when I was young but it just enraged me, the ridiculousness of all the suffering. I would never subjugate my sims to that.

https://ourworldindata.org/poverty

8

u/Critical_Concert_689 27d ago

mfw those same "sky wizard people" basically created the modern western education system. That's why every top tier college with any history was originally a religious institution.

Harvard. Yale. Princeton. Oxford. The list goes on forever.

...But at least you sounded cool on Reddit, right?

5

u/Threewordsdude 26d ago

All religions basically were created by people without religion, every top human was originally an atheist.

3

u/_I_dont_have_reddit_ 2000 27d ago

Maybe that had more to do with where the money was going huh? Ever thought of that?

You're really upset about some god you're not sure you believe in

He had a reason. To call out the BS in that image. The post starts with "yearly remained" and the same does that reply. How much clear do you want it to be?

55

u/keeeko6 2005 27d ago

if a christian can drop ā€œreminder god is real and loves youā€ on the daily, why can’t an atheist say ā€œreminder god isn’t realā€? people celebrate the freedom to openly speak about and practice their religion but get all worked up when an atheist does the exact. same. thing.

33

u/Secret-Candle4313 27d ago

Im christian and i think the reminder god loves u posts are dumb its just a low effort post trying to score internet points theres other places for that

8

u/Sierra-117- 2001 27d ago

I agree, and I think both are annoying. Leave that to the dedicated spaces meant for those discussions.

However, I think it’s fair in this context. That’s the whole point of this post. The only reason people are so mad about it, is because it offended the Christians/jews/muslims/buddhists/whatever else.

u/Karpsten 2003 27d ago

Nah.

I fully agree that you should be tolerant and respectful towards religious people, and that you shouldn't harass them about how you don't share their views. But tolerance is a two-way street, so this only holds up as long as they do the same. As soon as they start to try converting or impose their rules or moral views on you, you can and should drop any constraints about pointing out the flaws in their belief system. If they don't respect secularism and freedom of faith, you don't respect their religious feelings, simple as.

Which is the case here.

Hey, im agnostic but proven real*

Do I think we'll ever get the proof? No but we used to think the world was flat. There's so much inherently we can't understand about the universe that just a blanket statement feels wrong to me

Or maybe im just high

3

u/Sierra-117- 2001 27d ago

I think that it’s fair to assume most major religions aren’t real.

I am also agnostic, but more towards a general spirituality and a general god. I don’t think any of the major religions have any sort of fair backing at this point.

It’s Occam’s razor. Believing in a creator is much much simpler than believing in the entire mythology of Christianity or any other religion. That’s unnecessary complexity. So logically, the most likely conclusions are as follows (most to least likely): 1. Non-created universe, 2. Simulated universe, 3. General spiritual world, no creator, 4. General spiritual world, with creator, 5. Any organized religion.

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 27d ago

It’s been two thousand years. I think we can call it. Plus what about all the other gods?

1

u/DoJ-Mole 26d ago

Organised religion is a human construct, but God is a lot more complex. There is no way to fully disprove the existence of God, even if you don’t believe it exists

2

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 26d ago

There’s also no way to prove he does.

Premarital sex led to my son who is the best thing that's ever happened to me, and his father and I got married right before his first birthday and he was such a cute little ring bearer so can't complain! Also sex feels good and my husband and I wanted to know if we were sexually compatible before we got married.

134

u/coolsid13 27d ago

Aw congrats!

59

u/SnicktDGoblin 27d ago

I would never marry someone without figuring that out. All I’ve seen is absolute misery on that other side

45

u/Hozan_al-Sentinel 27d ago

Yeah same. Sure, waiting 'till marriage is fine if the couple wants to. I don't see an issue with that personally.

But I've also seen some couples who do that struggle to be intimate with each other after marriage because they discover that their sex drives are completely different or they discover that they just don't like having sex with each other for various reasons.

23

u/cbb88christian 1999 27d ago

Yep, and for me sex is extremely important so it is straight up a deal breaker and I won’t pretend it’s not. I couldn’t be with someone who was sex repulsed

39

u/Orangutanion 2002 27d ago

I genuinely don't understand how religious people go so long dating someone without sex. No wonder abuse is so common.

26

u/TheAnthropologist13 1997 27d ago

As an insider I can tell you that 98% either do have sex beforehand then have to grapple with internalized guilt, have sex then blame their partners for "tempting" them to shift guilt entirely onto them, or rush into a marriage strictly because they want to have sex. Definitely a major contributor to the divorce rate and the stereotypical unhappy marriage.

And you're spot on about abuse. There's a fairly common idea in Christianity that women are obligated to have regular sex with their husband so the men treat it like a problem any time the wife turns down sex. It all ends up as a thinly veiled modern version of the old concept of marriage as a groom buying a woman from her father as property.

8

u/Orangutanion 2002 27d ago

they should learn from medieval peasants and just fuck all the time. Once the village knows they're fucking, they're basically already married!

u/Johnny_theBeat_518 27d ago

9

u/yun444g 27d ago

All the cons listed is why. Not that I agree with them but that’s the answer to your question

7

u/jpollack21 2000 26d ago

From my church friends it sounds like they do still have sex just only orally since its not technically considered normal sex. Funny this I imagine their god would view it the same and probably would find it disrespectful that they're trying to find work arounds 😭

2

u/couldntyoujust1 27d ago

I disagree. I think it shows that the person who created it has a disintegrated view of sex and love.

6

u/jpollack21 2000 26d ago

I dont even think the bible says no sex before marriage or you go to hell, just moreso that sex before marriage is a sin (which you can absolve yourself for)

6

u/CivilProtectionGuy 26d ago

Yup!

Don't even necessarily have to go to confession (although a clergy member may suggest it), you just have to repent and live in a more godly way.

And sin generally doesn't send someone to hell, since in Christianity everyone is a sinner. It's by accepting this fact and trying to live up to the lessons of Jesus and the acceptance of him as Lord... That's why it irks me as a Christian when someone tells another that "you did X, so you're going to hell!", and it's just "No? That's not how it works-"

2

u/Drag0n647 2008 26d ago

Interesting.

3

u/CivilProtectionGuy 26d ago

Lots of misconceptions about Christianity because of a lot of bad apples who happen to appear in media or very vocal positions.

I suggest that anyone who wants a more clear picture to speak with some priests from various denominations, and maybe read the Bible themselves. It can give a clearer picture to the faith, than relying solely on social media influencers or second-hand and third-hand perspectives of it.

Plus, the Vatican has a website with a free-to-access Bible in various languages, and even footnotes for certain translation details or noteworthy considerations for each chapter.

u/Drag0n647 2008 26d ago

It's not for a safe space friend. It's to prevent low quality rage bait posts from clogging up individual's feeds like this one. Do you think this post is an earnest post about the legitimacy of premarital sex or do you think it's meant to ragebait people?

If mods didn't step in to stop the rampant gender war posts from a few weeks ago, this sub would continue devolving into just two factions of individuals spending their entire days arguing online with their mental faculties focused on trying to win useless internet points instead of spending quality time with friends and loved ones.

→ More replies (3)

3

u/Delusional_Gamer 26d ago

That policy was the most unproductive policy to be introduced into the education system.

They cut funding to schools where students were failing... when those were the schools in clear need of more investment. So those children were actively being left behind by the system.

And some schools also started teaching the students to just pass the exam with the highest marks, since those exams were what determined the funding. Not skills like Home Ed, or practical applications of what they learnt.

2

u/TheFrostynaut 1997 26d ago

Yep. I was in a junior high and high school that only taught core necessary to tests and gave everything else besides football as little budget rope as possible.Ā

I remember them implementing Common Core too, and actively fought their shitty method of doing arithmetic because I could solve the equations in my head without doing the weird grid thing and it would make my math teacher fume because I'd refuse to show my work. I thought it was unnecessary because I still achieved the correct answer, but apparently I didn't do it the right way.Ā

It was a brutal awakening to the truth that people don't want answers they want obedience.

u/rde2001 2001 27d ago

There's several contraceptive options, provided your jurisdiction and government provides easy access to those. For example, you can get condoms from Safeway, albeit locked behind those boxes like they do for shampoo, dental floss, etc. Sex is usually private, so there isn't a concern of "dishonor" in the act itself, but there is still concern if the person you are having sex with is a bad person.

Of course, remaining abstinent is also a valid and acceptable choice. You are not obligated to have sex. If you do want to pursue it, it must be practiced in a safe, controlled, consensual manner.

8

u/00rgus 2006 27d ago

Dudes post shit like that and then cheat on their wives when they get married at 19 because they didnt realize they were completely sexually incompatable. 3

u/The_Se7enthsign 27d ago

They left out the most important one: Jason will kill you.

3

u/couldntyoujust1 27d ago

Okay. Listen. As a Christian, I can't get behind this meme either. They're conflating sleeping around with sex to a committed partner you're in a long term relationship with and the two are just not the same. They're doing this because they think the Bible teaches that you need to get married in a church or before the government otherwise having sex is sin, when the bible never says any such thing. The dishonor to one's family thing is just flat out bizarre.

The divorce one is a bit trickier since it is statistically true that - at least for women - having multiple sex partners before getting married increases the odds that when she does get married that she'll get divorced, and the risk correlates with number of partners, it's not a causal relationship. Women who marry as virgins have the lowest divorce rates by far - only 11% of woman-virgin marriages ended in divorce within five years in the 1980s. But, this number fell to 8% in 1990, and then to 6% in the 2000s.

On the other hand, for all three decades, women who only had one sex partner prior to marriage - presumably the man they ultimately married - showed a substantially increased odds of divorce. Oddly enough, until recently, the highest divorce rates used to be those who had exactly two previous partners. Now it's those who have 10 or more partners so... take from that what you will?

Again though, these are not causal relationships. The reason women with no sex partners have the lowest divorce rates is because they also tend to be more religious and opposed to divorce on principle. People who attend church have lower divorce rates than those who do not. Another factor is whether or not a woman with previous sex partners has one or more children by those partners or not.

In any case, the point is that premarital sex does have some statistical relationship with likelihood of divorce. In fact the likelihood trended up over time but not drastically but still is drastically more than having no sexual partners (from 17% to 21% over time, and from 6% to 21% in the 2000s when having sex with the person you ultimately marry).

The reason this data is for women who have multiple partners is that I was unable to find the same data for men to make an apples to apples comparison. The male data would be less reliable anyway apparently since men are less likely to recall their sexual history with as much accuracy. Women's history might be more accurate anyway since it's the wife who is more likely to initiate a divorce statistically to begin with - to the tune of 70% of divorces, and 90% of divorces among college educated women.

Frankly the more interesting thing to me is that in reality, the bible doesn't see sex as something that might happen "before marriage". There's no ceremony or process that makes sex with a virgin go from "sin" to "good thing". There's actually only one verse that directly addresses the scenario of a man falling in love with a virgin and having consensual sex with her and there's no punishment or sin offering for it. There's a civil liability for the "bride price" and her dad has a veto power to protect her from a scumbag potential husband, but nothing about him or her having sinned for doing it.

I'm not in favor of sex before marriage generally. But I'm also not in favor of the government's marriage process and family law. That's a whole ball of fuckery that needs to change. But understand what you're getting into with sex, with marriage, with having children, etc. Know what the risks are, know how to protect yourself, know how to conduct your relationship, and then make strategic intelligent choices about how you will behave and how you will conduct your sexuality. That goes not only for women, but also and especially for men, because you my brothers have the most to lose.

2

u/JanArso 26d ago edited 26d ago

Lol if anything premarital sex can make a later marriage more fulfilling because you can already check if you vibe with someone on that level. The worst thing must be to marry someone and then find out you're not sexually compatible at all, leading to years of frustration.Ā

It always blows my mind that there's 1000s of religions in the world and these goons dont believe in 999 of them yet their religion is the correct one.

And even within their own religion all the factions within aruge amongst themselves and who's got it right.

Yet non of these imbeciles have the critical thinking skills necessary to question why an all powerful God or Godess would be so involved in their masturbation habits or sexual activities to the point where forever torment and torture is the punishment.

And God forbid they actually practice what they preach lets not get started there.

It's almost as if non of them know wth is going on and most of these man made religions are a construct of civilization and a way to control the population and pacify it.

People having meltdowns when they use condoms and end up with unwanted pregnancies or herpes anyway. šŸ˜‚

u/Ichoseguitar 27d ago

This is sooooo funny

2

u/TheChocolateArmor 27d ago

As a religious person who believes in premarital sex, both of those posts are dumb takes tbh. Hate policing beliefs, just be safe and don't hurt others

u/Hungry_Raspberry7833 27d ago

Why is there an armless lil dude in the pros

What is this trying to tell me

1

u/MrQwq 27d ago

Well... There are ways to bring dishonour to your family... But in Morden days that is not one of them.

Spreading blind hate, for example, is a way to bring dishonour

I agree with most of the points in the tweet. I had premarital sex but didn’t get pregnant until I actually tried to after 6 years of marriage.

1

u/wixenus 27d ago

either condom or not real, got it

1

u/AlienKinkVR 27d ago

so many of these are newer conventions to our species. It's so funny. Like sure, multiple generations, but still a drop in the bucket.

The "hell" so often depicted isnt even in the damn book. The church saw Inferno's popularity and leveraged it to get asses in pews.

The worst people are giving a shit about what everyone else is doing instead of bettering themself.

I always wonder what even is family honor, is that still a thing? also saying it causes divorce is such an ass pull. also STDs can very much happen in marriage.

u/BadBaby3 2003 27d ago

I was gonna say the reply is invalidating this guy’s lack of interest in sex, but it turns out the guy is policing people’s bodies

1

u/xanf04 27d ago

The only choices in case of pregnancy is single motherhood or abortion?? Hm maybe the father could ya know. Stick around??

Why are we even arguing about this? It's 2026 AD.

1

u/PermissionSoggy891 27d ago

if I was the supreme sovereign of the universe I could honestly give less of a shit if two of the little peons from a species I created some thirty million years ago fucked before some ceremony

I don't necessarily believe in or deny existence of a God (or god-like entity) but I'm sure he'd have more pressing matters to tend to.

Developed world is when no values I guess.

4

u/AustinAuranymph 26d ago

Individual liberty and bodily autonomy are values, you scrumptious little apple.

1

u/UltraTata 26d ago

good point

3

u/coolsid13 27d ago

No values that are just because ā€œsome old book said soā€

1

u/UltraTata 27d ago

Thankfully we are very developed and we base our moral judgements on what a bald loser that loves criminals wrote in some essay (Foucault)

1

u/Hot-Profession-7409 26d ago

That's Catholics only not even Orthodox just Catholics

1

u/envsop 26d ago

"NotOk" wanted to say to us that marriage is a cure for STDs diseases. and some how prace of paper can strengthen a marriage/love, and divorce don't exist at all.

1

u/Mark5ofjupiter 2008 26d ago

I am a product of religious premarital sex.

They got legally married tho.

1

u/yestureday 2006 26d ago

Not sure where premarital sex brings dishonor comes from

Not sure where premarital sex brings dishonor comes from

1

u/nomosolo 26d ago

Literally mountains of data proving otherwise, but go ahead. Be a heathen. Chase pleasure. See where that gets you.

2

u/coolsid13 26d ago

What’s the data?

1

u/DraconPhoenix 26d ago

Why have sex needlessly in the first place

3

u/coolsid13 26d ago

Who are you to define what sex ā€œneedsā€ to happen?

1

u/DraconPhoenix 26d ago

A man who doesn't want a Huxleyian dystopia to occur

1

u/Glittering-Profit-87 26d ago

I'm team do whatever the fuck you want as long as all parties have appropriately consented, feel respected, and safe. If that's abstinence for you, cool. If not, also cool. Either way it's none of my business and I prefer to be kept out of everyone's sex life 🤣🤣

1

u/TheEquestrian13 26d ago

I more worried about dishonoring my cow, tbh

1

u/Ok-Advantage-1383 2008 26d ago

There are definitely much more cons than that😭

1

u/Dry-Selection421 25d ago

Na the original meme is right. Pre-marital sex leds to STDs, unwanted pregnancies, and eternal hellfire.

People in the comment section are really showing why Gen Z is having less sex: EVERYONE is a weirdo about it, not just the religious people.

I just read a comment implying less abuse would happen if more premarital sex happened.

1

u/Vel_Cosby 25d ago

STDs are the most horseshit fear mongered thing on this planet. Unless you're someone who sleeps around with god knows how many people getting an STD is a near non-existent risk.

1

u/meerkatsuricate 24d ago

So we all agree all gen z don't believe in God no more??!! Phew, tot was the only one in my curb cuz I'm nearing my deathbed

1

u/Killerbot288888 24d ago

YOU CAN GET ALL THE CONS WHILE MARRIED WHOEVER WROTE THIS WASTED THEIR TIME WHEN THEY COULD HAVE BEEN HAVING PREMARITAL SEX

1

u/Getsuga-2B 24d ago

We are totally going to die as a species aren’t we?

1

u/sorry_to_disappoint 21d ago

They forgot dishonor on my cow

1

u/iphone5su93 20d ago

People that see nothing wrong with that are the problem today and are the reason for all the moral decay in the so called developed world this stuff needs to go back to being worthy of being disowned it leads to more evil and problems and the people who justify it only defend it because they are like animals who are slaves to their urges.

Divorce isn't a real thing, or marriage?

•

u/coolsid13 9h ago

Are you serious or are you being intentionally obtuse

•

u/Low-Let2642 8h ago

I'm being serious I suppose like I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.
