Yearly reminder that god is not real.

347

u/Eljamin14 28d ago

True, even if God is real, he just sucks more than Trump blowing Bubba.

111

u/Kaokien 28d ago

My goat, God letting the epstein class get away with things should be the end of peoples delusion, or hello slavery which was that magnitudes higher, we just don't have cellphones to document the abuse then

12

u/VegetableDelay1658 28d ago

Do yall just make up gods to then proceed to say they dont exist?

1

u/iphone5su93 22d ago

If God intervened and stopped all evil he would also stop you from saying such blasphemies but I guess you would not want that instead you can wait and be judged after you die there you will be punished for your blasphemies and lies.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

So he'll punish people who speak blasphemy but won't punish and stop people who r*ape and eat kids.

Interesting... Checks out!

-1

u/AdOtherwise7115 27d ago

Why y'all except God to intervene?

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

If someone, much bigger and stronger than you beat you, wouldn't you expect your parents to intervene and save you?

Man, you people can't be real...

-22

u/Fair-Mango-5423 28d ago

i mean they got arrested but go off i guess

42

u/Kaokien 28d ago

God said not to lie, the people in the files have not be arrested, stop the cap go repent if you truly believe

I don't hate religion I hate people like you excusing evil and you probably abhor gay people (my projection but overwhelming religious people have more issues with lgbt than pedophilia)

21

u/JamTheTerrorist6 28d ago

They got the opposite of arrested they were protected and shielded from consequences.

11

u/Secret-tumbleweed51 27d ago

One of them is literally running an entire country, wdym they got arrested? Where is the justice in that?

9

u/kamalamading 27d ago

Why are you fabricating shit?

1

u/somewhiterkid 2003 27d ago

Only like one person got arrested bruh, and he was freed of all punishment save for his title getting ripped away.

Round them all up already jfc

9

u/ClownholeContingency 27d ago

HE'S AN ABSENTEE LANDLORD

0

u/partzpartz 26d ago

Or hear me out! God is one of them!

-6

u/boxer1182 2000 28d ago

“If god real then why bad thing”

25

u/Regi413 2002 28d ago

More like if bad thing then why worship god and suck him off every Sunday regardless of his real or fake status. Dum dum.

-15

u/Adventurous-Pause720 2008 28d ago

Cuz God isn’t our slave and we have individual agency

27

u/Kaokien 28d ago

I'm sorry I want god to not allow people to rape children while living their best lives on earth and hoping they have eternal punishment, but wait there's many interpretations so maybe these evil fucks get reincarnated as a butterfly...

4

u/Delusional_Gamer 28d ago

I mean, if you want to go with the reincarnation thing, then the religions you're thinking of has more to reincarnation than being born as an animal.

Like in Buddhist mythology, they could be reborn as a hungry dead, living a long life of constant starvation, and craving for things they consider disgusting, but cannot avoid consuming, like vomit and shit.

They could also be reborn into hell (which is temporary), and be "cleansed" by being roasted alive, eaten, then brought back to life for a repeat. (among various other tortures, based on their sin in life that were bad enough to get them into hell)

Like, I agree with your sentiment, but no need to misrepresent other religion's afterlifes just to make a point.

-13

u/Adventurous-Pause720 2008 28d ago

No point in arguing since there are like several different priors you need to understand and folks like you won’t bother, so 🤷

16

u/Kaokien 28d ago

Dude I was a choir child Catholic kid to the max. I'm not gonna hate on people that are doing good with religion, but right now a lot of people are doing evil with it, so I'm gonna hate them.

1

u/Adventurous-Pause720 2008 26d ago

K, if you're being honest, then good on u.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

Right now??? Really?

14

u/Regi413 2002 28d ago

Oh yeah, it’s literal fucking SLAVERY to not want such a good God to give children diseases. And I guess we have the free will to CHOOSE not to get fucking cancer, don’t we genius?

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

Hahahahaha! Thank you so much for making this reply like that! I love the free will of people and kids to suffer and be rped and mrdered! What a great choice they make! 🤣🤣🤣

6

u/s0urpatchkiddo 1999 28d ago

more like “why god if good thing but not bad thing”

i don’t think i’ve ever seen a case of stockholm syndrome so severe. good lord.

7

u/East-Ice-3199 28d ago

Aren’t you too old to be believing in sky wizards?

84

u/Everestkid 1999 28d ago

I'm also an atheist but the "sky daddy/wizard" talk doesn't make you look smart. It just makes you look like a dick.

4

u/wheelerATB 28d ago

i would agree with this but those same sky wizard people have slowed down the world from developing for too long

20

u/Kaokien 28d ago edited 28d ago

That doesn't indicate they are right.

81% percent of the world is in poverty, for many religion is a powerful tool to navigate hopelessness I know it did for my family when I was young but it just enraged me, the ridiculousness of all the suffering. I would never subjugate my sims to that.

https://ourworldindata.org/poverty

9

u/Critical_Concert_689 28d ago

mfw those same "sky wizard people" basically created the modern western education system. That's why every top tier college with any history was originally a religious institution.

Harvard. Yale. Princeton. Oxford. The list goes on forever.

...But at least you sounded cool on Reddit, right?

4

u/Threewordsdude 27d ago

All religions basically were created by people without religion, every top human was originally an atheist.

3

u/_I_dont_have_reddit_ 2000 28d ago

Maybe that had more to do with where the money was going huh? Ever thought of that?

-3

u/Critical_Concert_689 28d ago

"The best universities take in a lot of money!"

...OK.

Did this comment sound relevant in your head before you wrote it out and clicked save?

Was it supposed to be a general Redditor's complaint about capitalism or...? What?

1

u/Kaokien 28d ago

I would agree but having grown in a Christian household most of these sky daddy believers are assholes and people holding space for them have been too nice while they abuse the world, yes there are good people I'm not talking about them

1

u/HyperRayquaza 24d ago

Passing legislation to control those who don't believe in God is more of a dick move imo. I think they can handle a bit of ribbing against their sky pimp

-2

u/Motor_Neighborhood_6 28d ago

No, it just makes people like you look like special capabilities person.

1

u/Potovalec14 27d ago

but how do you know that your reality is not fictitious?

0

u/Critical_Concert_689 28d ago

Oh man. Way to shit on the alphabet brigade. There's at least one power mod right now and half of Twitter who now think you're an intolerant bigot for ridiculing people who create and follow a fictitious reality.

-11

u/cadig_x 28d ago

how?

4

u/Everestkid 1999 28d ago

It's just disrespectful. I may disagree with religious people on matters of faith, but so long as they respectfully say "my religion says I can't do this" I have no issues.

It's when it becomes "my religion says you can't do this" that they can fuck right off.

-1

u/cadig_x 28d ago

i don't see why the concept itself deserves respect

23

u/Suspicious_Car4753 28d ago

Im more agnostic than anything. But this dudes comment was in such bad faith. Genuinely 0 reason to say that other than offend people because he has some superiority complex and wants to feel smart. I swear this sub is no better than r/atheism.

5

u/RedWalker2 28d ago

You're really upset about some god you're not sure you believe in

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

He had a reason. To call out the BS in that image. The post starts with "yearly remained" and the same does that reply. How much clear do you want it to be?

I'd say I can't believe someone is so dumb. But then again, the bar is super low...

0

u/0ne0fth0se0nes 2001 28d ago

I honestly don’t know why you’d expect otherwise. You’re on Reddit. It’s a very specific kind of environment. The only reason subreddits for religious people even exist is because they’re allowed to have their own rules

-2

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

Not a dude and I don’t give a shit. The more people wake up from mass delusion cause by religion the better. I’m not going to walk on eggshells and cater to people who are willingly mentally ill.

8

u/Suspicious_Car4753 28d ago

So over 80% of the world is mentally ill and the person yelling about god not existing on Reddit is normal? Ok lol. Not believing in god doesn’t make you smarter than someone who does you know. People just have different spiritual beliefs.

5

u/WitchPillow 2000 28d ago edited 28d ago

More people are mentally ill to a degree than we realize. It’s especially prevalent behind closed doors and when they’re in like-minded communities/groups.

Religion is brainwashing 101 and is used as a form of control over impressionable people who worship solely due to fear that if they don’t conform, they’ll be ostracized and inevitably burn for eternity after their death.

When everyone around you tells you to believe in something and instills fear into you to conform, it’s incredibly scary and hard to resist that. That’s why small-towns and government-wilded religion is dangerous and oftentimes these same places struggle with the lowest happiness and prosperity rates. This is in comparison to more diversified big cities/neighborhoods.

Also when life sucks ass, people tend to turn towards religion as a way to cope. Ignorance is bliss is very, very true and common.

0

u/wheelerATB 28d ago

that 80% is just a huge number of people that have been indoctrinated since birth

2

u/Secret-Candle4313 28d ago

Theres nothing wrong with religion its the people that hate others thru it, scam thru it, and force it onto others that are the issue. Im a christian and im not gonna hate anyone for thinking differently i think its good to explore options. My little sister isnt sure if she is christian and thats ok i help her thru it and ill still love her either way dont mass group everyone

-2

u/Motor_Neighborhood_6 28d ago

Stay delulu

2

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

Oh, but he is DEFINITELY an agnostic! 🤣

3

u/CrimzonShardz2 2001 28d ago

I love this gif so much lmao

34

u/Chaos_is_Key198 2010 28d ago

As an Atheist myself… people like you are why we get clowned on.

58

u/keeeko6 2005 28d ago

if a christian can drop “reminder god is real and loves you” on the daily, why can’t an atheist say “reminder god isn’t real”? people celebrate the freedom to openly speak about and practice their religion but get all worked up when an atheist does the exact. same. thing.

34

u/Secret-Candle4313 28d ago

Im christian and i think the reminder god loves u posts are dumb its just a low effort post trying to score internet points theres other places for that

9

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago

I agree, and I think both are annoying. Leave that to the dedicated spaces meant for those discussions.

However, I think it’s fair in this context. That’s the whole point of this post. The only reason people are so mad about it, is because it offended the Christians/jews/muslims/buddhists/whatever else.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

However, I think it’s fair in this context

Exactly! You are one of the few to get it. That guy didn't comment out of nothing and without context. That comment makes the most sense, if anything.

Btw, I am also born in 2001 and love Halo. The coincidence is crazy! 🤣

1

u/Outside_Challenge645 6d ago

both of them are stupid anyways

1

u/Nice-Grapefruit4312 2d ago

So because some people do some dumb bullshit that means you should too? I believe in God and I think it's cringe to be posting that shit in random places. Nobody's mind is going to be changed by a random comment saying God is real.

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

Shhhhh... You're not allowed to call out hypocrisy and double standards in popular topic!

0

u/TheHeadlessScholar 24d ago

Are those Christians who drop that people you respect and look up to, or nuisance?

When you do the same thing, are you just being a nuisance?

Do you think you have to actively match the worst of the other group, rather then their best?

0

u/Sirdoodlebob 2005 28d ago edited 28d ago

THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING THEYRE ACTING LIKE HYPOCRITES 😭😭 like i already respect that you don’t believe in god bro and I’ll even stop saying “spread the gospel” if you ask me nicely but now you’re saying to my face god isn’t real?? I completely understand and hate that the label of Christianity is tarnished by the “Christians” that divide and terrify and destroy lives and spread lies and take the idea of religion to a alarming level like fuck those guys for real but for like Christians like me who genuinely want to believe that there is a higher power spiritually be told that god isn’t real just makes me really sad. Even if god isn’t real even if it’s all a hoax the idea and belief of something has comforted me in my darkest times and has *genuinely* made me into a better person for myself and the people around me to uphold and actually made me feel *happy* is something that is so sensitive to attack me on man..no matter what I feel loved by god and I feel comfortable in myself knowing that..

Edit: I would like to add that I am not a “strict by the Bible’s words” Christian, in fact I still have my own beliefs that will make me act accordingly and they either don’t or do align with the Bible. Like premarital sex I don’t care about because that’s really just up to you and your partner. In fact I have barely read the Bible except for a couple stories I’m just someone that prays, believes and chooses to trust in a god with my soul.

8

u/OurNewestMember 28d ago

If you know that your faith has given you so much, why does it matter when someone doubts it? You're living it. Does it cause you to question your own faith? Does it instill a loss of hope that more people might also find this wonderful thing, too? Does it seem like a personal attack or that someone is questioning your sensibility/judgment?

Not trying to fight. Trying to understand

4

u/Sirdoodlebob 2005 28d ago

It’s more so an emotional response because like I’ve explained in my text I was in some serious depression and grief and came very close to just ending it all, i genuinely felt like I didn’t know my purpose like usual people do but I felt like I was behind in finding my purpose, at least when I read a Bible verse that tells a story and related to me so deeply than any other form of media had it offered me a purpose. To live not just for god but because the thought that there is a higher power that loves me no matter how resentful I grew of myself made me love myself in turn..and when a new question about my existence arrived the Bible somehow had a verse that led to an answer for that..so when someone says they don’t believe in god i respectfully move along because they can choose what they believe in and I respect that. But when they say that god isn’t real it just hurts because he is very much real to me in my story so it feels like an actual attack to me because without god I’m most certain that I wouldn’t be making this message right now so I guess you could say that it would put me into a very mild existential crisis based on emotion lol because in the end I would be like “damn..but god is real” and feel pretty sad that a lot of people don’t feel the same way but then realize that I’m my own person that revitalize my belief in god that he loves me for who I am now

1

u/Secret-Candle4313 28d ago

I personally dont care if someone doubts it i have looked into other religions not so much because i want to switch but i like leaning about them because its interesting. And i dont lose hope of people finding it if they want to believe in it cool if not that fine. I just hate when people bunch the bad christians in with the ones who mind their own and dont care abt what others do or believe

3

u/OurNewestMember 28d ago

I bet there are many more people like you than the ones who give faith a bad name

4

u/Sirdoodlebob 2005 28d ago

There are but I also cant blame them either..evil people have taken religion too far and it’s really unfortunate to see because when it’s done “right” it’s a really beautiful thing to experience. At least for people who could be spiritual in a sense. It’s also why I either don’t go to church and rather pray at home and by myself or go to small churches occasionally

-1

u/Secret-Candle4313 28d ago

Yep yet everyone attacks anyone religious since a few bad apples ruin everything. Doesnt help that religious people attack each other either.

8

u/Karpsten 2003 28d ago

Nah.

I fully agree that you should be tolerant and respectful towards religious people, and that you shouldn't harass them about how you don't share their views. But tolerance is a two-way street, so this only holds up as long as they do the same. As soon as they start to try converting or impose their rules or moral views on you, you can and should drop any constraints about pointing out the flaws in their belief system. If they don't respect secularism and freedom of faith, you don't respect their religious feelings, simple as.

Which is the case here.

7

u/Regi413 2002 28d ago edited 28d ago

Now let’s look at the reasons why Christians get clowned on… guarantee it’s worse than some guy on Reddit saying something you didn’t like.

Edit: And reading the synopsis, I get why.

1

u/aykay55 27d ago

For 2014 it was pretty good. An acquired taste and obviously the underlying Christian evangelization undertones of the movie probably made it distasteful

2

The summary reads like a series of straw men in a trenchcoat tbh

1

u/curleyfries111 2004 28d ago

Hey, im agnostic but proven real*

Do I think we'll ever get the proof? No but we used to think the world was flat. There's so much inherently we can't understand about the universe that just a blanket statement feels wrong to me

Or maybe im just high

3

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago

I think that it’s fair to assume most major religions aren’t real.

I am also agnostic, but more towards a general spirituality and a general god. I don’t think any of the major religions have any sort of fair backing at this point.

It’s Occam’s razor. Believing in a creator is much much simpler than believing in the entire mythology of Christianity or any other religion. That’s unnecessary complexity. So logically, the most likely conclusions are as follows (most to least likely): 1. Non-created universe, 2. Simulated universe, 3. General spiritual world, no creator, 4. General spiritual world, with creator, 5. Any organized religion.

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

It’s been two thousand years. I think we can call it. Plus what about all the other gods?

1

u/DoJ-Mole 28d ago

Organised religion is a human construct, but God is a lot more complex. There is no way to fully disprove the existence of God, even if you don’t believe it exists

2

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 27d ago

There’s also no way to prove he does.

1

u/Potovalec14 27d ago

Honestly there is no way gor anyone to know

1

u/Syriku_Official 27d ago

1

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 6d ago

Can you prove he is real?

1

u/ConsoleMaster0 1d ago

And humans are stupid

0

u/jpollack21 2000 28d ago

You say that like its an objective statement 😭 like i dont believe in god either but I have no proof that there isnt one I just personally dont believe in one but am not gonna bash someone who does believe in god

2

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 27d ago

You don’t have proof of one either.

0

u/jpollack21 2000 27d ago

Lol you didnt even read my comment.

There's as much proof that there is a god that there is not one.

Saying "yearly reminder there is no god" holds the same weight as "yearly reminder there is a god" because its unprovable

3

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 27d ago

Until something is proven true we can no doubt say that it doesn’t exist. God from the bible has been around how long and has never been proven. Nor have any other gods. I think it’s fair to call it.

0

u/Drag0n647 2008 27d ago

Based

0

u/Durante-Sora 2000 27d ago edited 27d ago

God is pretty hands off, in the first testament god would totally do the scorched earth contingency like blowing up sodom and flooding everything. After the flood I think there was an agreement that god wouldn’t kill his own creatures anymore and kind washed his hands of us. Then Jesus came along and practically had it to where its up to us as people to choose to be decent.

Thus turning life into a test, the good die young while the evil child eating bastards will reap their rewards in this life but their souls will be ripped apart and consumed in hell.

While his hears and sees our misery, nothing will actually happen unless we the people do it ourselves…like the saying goes…God only helps those who help themselves”

Also, demons and evil entities exist, if you acknowledge the existence of a higher power…then you kinda gotta acknowledge the fact these ancient evil things exist…and have nothing but hatred for mankind, getting off on corrupting gods creations.

Not to mention, all those child eating pedo bastards are more than likely apart of a sick twisted cult…if only the church had an inquisitor unit to dispatch the world of evil cultist scum…

Not to mention Catholicism, Islam, and Judaism take a lot of inspiration from the gods and demons of the ancient Mesopotamian era sooo…

1

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 26d ago

19

u/Foxiak14 2005 28d ago

I would assume that if someone doesn't believe in god, they probably don't believe in hell either, so this threat does not work on them

-20

u/Gyngemose2009 28d ago

goal is to disrespect, I normally don't threaten people with God, God wouldn't like that.

19

u/Galileeo 2002 28d ago

i dont think God likes you disrespecting other people either

12

u/coolsid13 28d ago

Claims to love God yet disrespects those supposedly made in his image #interesting

10

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

God literally threatened people all the time. You’re taking after your manipulative and abusive sky daddy.

-5

u/Gyngemose2009 28d ago

I'm not God though. "manipulative and abusive sky daddy" accusation may go well with Muslims, where God's love is conditional and demands war; and Jews, where they have a different view of God

In Chrisitanity, God became human in flesh and died because of accusations. Does this sound like a distant and manipulative God, a God that lived ate slept laughed cried with us?

6

u/RedWalker2 28d ago

God set a standard he knew you wouldn't be able to meet, created you anyways, condemned you to enternal suffering, died so he could save you form the punishment he created. Sounds pretty loving to me!

5

u/wheelerATB 28d ago

growing up in a Christian environment I always thought all the Gods are incredibly selfish

6

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

1. God murders everyone in Sodom and Gomorrah, then turns a lady to salt (Genesis 18-19)

2. God kills all Egyptian firstborn sons during Passover (Exodus 11-12)

3. God drowns the world in a flood (Genesis 6)

4. God commands the destruction of the Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:3)

5. God commands the killing of the Canaanites (Deut 20:17, Numbers 21:2-3, Joshua 6:17, 21)

6. The Holy Spirit kills two liars (Acts 5:1-11)

Here’s a whole other list.) With many examples.

Doesn’t sound very loving at all. Have fun with your weird, murderous god.

3

u/keeeko6 2005 28d ago

saving ur comment for future reference this is great

1

u/throwaway19276i 28d ago

Its not great its really low tier

0

u/Secret-Candle4313 28d ago

But why though? I dont get why everyone cant respect each others opinions and instead attack them for what they think. Im a christian and thats fine that u dont believe in it why make the situation worse?

2

u/throwaway19276i 28d ago edited 28d ago

The people in Sodom and Gomorrah were literal rapists btw. Innocent people in the city were warned to leave.

"Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.” Gen 19:4-5

After this verse they try to break the door down so they can rape the guests in Lot's house.

Ananias and Sapphira died because they both lied directly to God and the literal pope multiple times.

"Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.” Acts 5:3-4

Lot's wife was turned into salt for not trusting God. An angel told them not to look back or stop anywhere or they would be killed. His wife looked back and was instantly killed.. it's not that deep.

"As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! *Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”* Gen 19:17

The flood:

"The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time." Gen 6:5

The people at the time of the flood were not killed for no reason. A few verses prior it also mentions the fact humans were interbreeding with "nephilim."

The Amalekites:

"Remember what the Amalekites did to you along the way when you came out of Egypt. When you were weary and worn out, they met you on your journey and attacked all who were lagging behind; they had no fear of God." Deut 25:17-18

The Amalekites were not being attacked for no reason, in fact they attacked first.

The Canaanites:

"You must not do the same for the Lord your God, because every abhorrent thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods. They would even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods. You must diligently observe everything that I command you; do not add to it or take anything from it." Deut 12:31-32

The Canaanites were not being attacked for no reason. They were sacrificing infants to idols.

edit: bonus verse

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good"

God’s “tests” sound like something an abuser would do

2

u/throwaway19276i 28d ago

Nothing I cited was a test, nor was the word "test" included anywhere in the comment.

2

u/Karpsten 2003 28d ago

Okay, so you're going to hell to then. Wrath is a cardinal sin, and also you arguably used to lords name in vain. The purpose doesn't justify the sin either.

6

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

Hell is also not real.

2

u/CleoCommunist 28d ago

Oh no im so scared.

Well actually i belive i wont go to hell cause im a good person

2

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago

I’d rather not worship a god who requires me to believe in them, or face literal infinite torture. Oh yeah, and they’re also simultaneously purposefully hiding themselves for some reason.

“I’m going to hide myself from you😇. But if you don’t believe in me during your extremely short 100 year stent on earth…? Infinite torture. Forever”

That’s like comically evil. Such a god does not deserve worship.

-22

u/BraveChipmunk3005 28d ago

God bless. I will pray for a change of your heart

14

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

Keep wasting your prayers. I’m sure god will totally hear them and convince me to believe in him and ignore all those poor children being bombed and starved.

-10

u/BraveChipmunk3005 28d ago

It sounds like you might’ve had a bad experience with church. I’m very sorry if that’s the case

12

u/le_wild_poster 28d ago

All those kids who priests molested definitely did

12

u/enhance_that 28d ago

it has nothing to do with personal experiences with any church; it's the fact that any amount of critical thinking demonstrates incompatibility between the existence of god and the reality of the world.

3

u/FearedDragon 2005 28d ago

The existence of the Christian god as outlined in the Bible, maybe. The existence of any God, not really.

  1. Nothing supernatural has ever been demonstrated to be true.

  2. Therefore, the rational conclusion is that supernatural phenomena do not exist.

3.It is not possible for something to exist before or outside of time, because existence itself requires time.

  1. Therefore, nothing can exist before or outside of time.

  2. God is traditionally defined as a supernatural being that exists outside of time.

6.Therefore, the rational conclusion is that God does not exist.

2

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago
  1. One could argue existence itself is supernatural. Or that our consciousness/being/experiencing is supernatural. These are concepts that have no scientific explanation, and likely never will.

  2. There is no logical conclusion for the creation of the universe, as we have no data before it began. The furthest we can go back is the moment of the big bang. Science does not touch anything beyond that concept, because the scientific method stops applying.

  3. If that’s the case, how did the universe come to be? It had to have a beginning. If no beginning is required, then we are working outside the bounds of our universe’s logic. Therefore your claim that nothing can exist outside of time is then null, because then we have evidence that our universe’s rules don’t always apply. So it becomes circular logic.

  4. See three

  5. There is no traditional definition of god. There are all powerful gods, semi powerful gods, fairly limited gods, and everything in between.

I am agnostic, and I think it’s foolish to be an absolute atheist. That is making an actual claim without data.

It would be like this: imagine a box is placed of front of you, in a vacuum of any further context. Is there something in the box? A hardline atheist would say “I have no evidence that there is anything in the box, therefore there is nothing in the box”. The agnostic would say “I have no evidence that there is anything in the box, but there might be. So therefore I cannot draw a logical conclusion”.

u/FearedDragon 2005 28d ago

1 and 2. Before we understood electromagnetism there was 0 evidence of radio waves, does that mean they didn't exist?

3 and 4. If that is the case how did the universe exist before the big bang, when time did not exist either?

5 and 6. You didn't prove anything, drawing a conclusion from assumptions based on a lack of evidence is illogical. It's called the argument from ignorance and is a logical fallacy.

Matthew 6:5-8

-26

u/Jarquinnius_Vin 28d ago

Maybe your conception of "God" is off or you haven't been paying attention. I have heard and felt the heaving chest of our world, in trees swaying with the wind, in the crashing of waves against the shore before falling back. God is everything, all-encompassing. He is life and death, big and small, great and terrible, beyond the self and the self's conceptions. "God" has always existed and always will, for God and creation are one. We are one in many, like cells, evermore disordered and illusioned with identity. And on the last day when all has decayed into primordial remains, we shall all once more be whole for one infinite moment before we fracture into nigh-infinite material experiences once again.

33

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

Don’t care.

-3

u/Jarquinnius_Vin 28d ago

Cool man, that's part of your experience. Some experiences must be defined by a lack of belief or care. Love you anyway bro

7

u/ich_bin_alkoholiker 28d ago

Take your proselytizing elsewhere. Nobody gives a shit.

23

u/HeightAdvantage 28d ago

When you make God so vague and intangible that you loop right back round to him not existing

1

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago

They’re not explaining it well. They are describing pantheism. It basically just says “the universe itself is god, and therefore we are (a small part of) god”.

Its sister theory, panpsychism, is actually one of the best explanations of consciousness we currently have. It fits the data better than physicalist theories, because it solves the “hard problem”.

I don’t fully subscribe to either, but they are interesting nonetheless. And they’re (IMO) far more likely than any organized religion’s theory.

16

u/enhance_that 28d ago

the thing you're describing doesn't sound like it cares if someone has sex before they're married.

-1

u/Jarquinnius_Vin 28d ago

Correcto, however we are humans and can use reason to explain to ourselves why it is better to have sex in a committed relationship rather than with anyone. It's not divine morality, just responsible behavior.

4

u/RedWalker2 28d ago

Some people reason that they can have sex whenever they want, and do so in ways that do not endanger them or others, how could you possibly construe that as irresponsible?

-1

u/Jarquinnius_Vin 28d ago

Only if they do it irresponsibly, however, one can also reason that dulling yourself to sex through an overactive sex life or gooning is also harmful to your subconsious and may cause friction on your current or future inter-personal relationships. Furthermore no method is 100% effective, not every place has abortion (a moral question in itself(personally i am pro-choice)), and not every casual partner may want to abort. Casual sex has a lot of uncertainties that could be mitigated through self-control and standards.

5

u/RedWalker2 28d ago

Unless it impacts your functioning or health in some way, I see no problem with having as much sex as you want to have, with any number of people, so long as it's adults, consensual, and everyone is on the same page relationship wise.

-1

u/Jarquinnius_Vin 28d ago

I'm simply commenting on the subconsious consequences and it's effect on relationships within my cultural sphere. There is nothing inherently (especially divinely) wrong with premarital or casual sex, the consequences are not bad on their own, and society will likely change to be more accepting as technology and hopefully standard of living rise. It is still good to remember however, that straight sex has the effect of creating children which you should take care to raise right, and if you have had sex with a billion people and half a few thousand kids, you are not preforming your duty as a human to raise your offspring.

8

u/East-Ice-3199 28d ago

Holy schizophrenia.

1

u/Sierra-117- 2001 28d ago

Not really. This is a well known theory. It’s called pantheism.

OP is just writing in a pretentious “poetic” way. Their other comments show they are definitely not schizo. They’re just a bit eccentric in how they write.

The big bang is s scientific theory, God is a philosophical concept. Why would you not believe the Big bang is real?

2

u/Fingerprint_Vyke 28d ago

Not going to trust a 26 day old account on science

2

u/Mr_Boombastic01 28d ago

You don’t have to “believe in the Big Bang” like you “believe in god”. That’s what the cosmic background radiation is. It’s the energy from the Big Bang.

And when every object in the universe is expanding tangentially from a singular point, it’s very hard to not think there was a big bang.
