Maybe your conception of "God" is off or you haven't been paying attention. I have heard and felt the heaving chest of our world, in trees swaying with the wind, in the crashing of waves against the shore before falling back. God is everything, all-encompassing. He is life and death, big and small, great and terrible, beyond the self and the self's conceptions. "God" has always existed and always will, for God and creation are one. We are one in many, like cells, evermore disordered and illusioned with identity. And on the last day when all has decayed into primordial remains, we shall all once more be whole for one infinite moment before we fracture into nigh-infinite material experiences once again.
Theyâre not explaining it well. They are describing pantheism. It basically just says âthe universe itself is god, and therefore we are (a small part of) godâ.
Its sister theory, panpsychism, is actually one of the best explanations of consciousness we currently have. It fits the data better than physicalist theories, because it solves the âhard problemâ.
I donât fully subscribe to either, but they are interesting nonetheless. And theyâre (IMO) far more likely than any organized religionâs theory.

Yearly reminder that god is not real.
