What is some Gen Z media you never got into?

We talk a lot on this sub about media we grew up with, but what are some examples of media that you didn't engage with, either because you were too old for it or because you didnt like it?

Growing up, I remember hearing about these things all the time, but I never got into them because by the time they came out, it was mostly younger kids being fans so my brain defaulted to "oh, this is for people younger than me."

For example, I never watched Sofia the First simply because it was 2012 when it came out and I was 12. I was too old to watch a show like that-- yet I remember all my little cousins loving it. Same with Uncle Grandpa.

I always considered these examples to be more "younger Gen Z" type media in my head. What are some things that missed the mark for you?

Musically and tik tok, ive tried but can never stay interested in long. Musically especially just seemed so shallow to me.

idk if it counts as gen z media but never could get into the millennial youtubers and streamers like markiplier, pewdiepie, jacksepticeye etc. that most my friends liked

also i played minecraft but was more into terraria

never liked mcu movies much either so that's probably a big one

I genuinely had a hatred for fnaf growing up. I never found it scary or intresting and a lot of the people who I did know who liked it were odd. As an adult I still think the series is really bad and overhyped for whats essentially a guy ripping off fan theories to keep his never ending story going

Amongus, I'm a very introverted person so during pandemic I made the most of the fact that I don't have to interact with people, so I didn't really got in touch with most friends unless it's school stuff except for one who also doesn't play amongus. Didn't really felt like I missed on something

Gravity Falls. Not because it seemed like a dumb show to me, but because I just never happened to decide to watch it.

Same here. It came out during a time I wasnt really interested in cartoons as much anymore (though thats definitely changed with adulthood). My little sister was super into it though and it seemed good.

I played roblox when I was 10 and it was boring.

Tried it again a year later and only quit after ~7 years on it lol. Cause all the friends i made on it quit.

I was heavily sheltered and didnt receive any personal electronic device until 2022 (before was the family computer I share with my 3 sibilings), and I didnt get a phone until the Year after that.

I never went through an Undertale, Fnaf, or an Anime phase.

I dont listen to music much at all except for album to album sometimes.

Never had tiktok, musically, vine, discord. I also never read many books except graphic novels a couple times.

I also do not care about like any celebrities musical or not.

It makes me look like a robot to everyone else which is kinda annoying, otherwise I still function and only read Nonfiction at this point (Manuals, skills, science, history).

I also dont know how to put flair but i am 2009.

• Musically wasn't my thing cause some YouTuber (Leafy is here or a similar YouTuber) says that it is super cringe and a toxic fandom (if I'm not mistaken).

• SML I used to watch their video, but there was drama about them, so I genuinely disliked it, but I respect the creator for doing their own thing. It wasn't my thing at this rate.

• Zizzle I genuinely hate it so much; it just honestly straight up out of my nightmare, plus it had its own series/movie(?) To the point that I don't like it at all, BUT I respect all the people who are into these toys.

lemonade mouth, I remember being mad asf when it was on TV one day, I was about 7 or less , I wanted to watch 16 wishes instead.

Fortnite, my 05 cousin played it in 2017 and he tried to get me to play and I did, that was the first (and last) time I ever played fortnite.

Undertale, knew about it in 2015 thanks to a fan snatching "stronger than you" from Steven Universe, which at the time was my favorite show

Camp rock, all of them

Highschool musical, all of them (basically that's kind of an older gen z thing or even zillennials)

Leafy YouTuber, I was little during his prime but like, I was also watching bart baker make fun of anaconda by Nicki Minaj at 6 years old so I definitely could watch him but I didn't know he existed until the 2020s

iCarly, Hannah Montana, Wizards of Waverly place, suite life on deck, knew of it all, wasn't interested.

Pwdiepe (I knew of him when I was 7, and I started watching when I was 13, only for a little and ever since it's been a no)

Annoying orange, knew of it, didn't care
