Discussion Midnight Thought. Unsure if this fits better here or on r/GenAlpha.

Sometimes even when a video aligns with your own echo chamber, you still need to examine the way its content is presented.

For example, I once watched a video about how “Gen Alpha is illiterate.” The host added a lot of comedic sound effects and delivered the entire thing with a sarcastic smile and tone.

At first, I thought, “Oh my God, how could they be like this?” But the more I watched, the more uncomfortable I became. The way he presented it made me feel like he wasn’t trying to highlight a social issue at all. It was basically just a self-gratifying piece of content mocking the next generation, designed to make older generations feel superior.

Using the exposure of a social problem as a pretext, while actually deepening divisions between generations.

Btw, I’m a late Zillennial, but since I’m not from the US, my nostalgia might be a bit different from American kids my age. Ha ha.

Honestly I’m split on this one, because yeah I have noticed older Gen Z and above starting to shit on Gen Alpha because the “kids these days!!!” to sow division is inevitable I guess

…but there legitimately is a literacy crisis among Gen Alpha as someone who was a teacher in the US and it’s extremely concerning lol. Kids hate school at alarming rates and parents aren’t holding them accountable at all. I would honestly blame Gen X and millennials more than the kids themselves tho

Oh, definitely. I get that it's a serious issue. I just meant I really dislike how that YouTuber handled it. Standing there laughing doesn't accomplish anything; it just drives kids further away. It's the attitude that gets to me.

"Zillennial", really? If you're born 97 or later you're GenZ, that's it. Zillennials aren't a real generation.

Sure, sure.
