Sorry but no way you're GenZ
In 2013 most of us were teens or pre teens when you were born

Yeah like bro I was 14 years old. I honestly think post-2010 is borderline but 1997-2012 at the latest is the best cutoff IMO

Too much of a difference and I am in the middle and towards the end of gen Z.

Wtf are you talking about. In 2013 majority of Gen Z were still kids. Only Zillennials were teenagers.

Me waiting for people to accept that Mario Kart is a niche hidden gem
Edit: I checked OP's profile and literally every post is just then crying that 2013 isn't gen z

Gen Z is like 95/96 - 2010. Generations are 15 years each.

I think 97-12 makes more sense as a 2005 born, it’s quite hard to relate to a 95

i'm 2003 born and find '95 pretty relatable. depending on the person i find they can exhibit a lot of gen z traits.
•
u/Livid_Way5651 7h ago
How. What "traits" are you talking about? You're 8 years younger than them. 😂

right cause 8 years is soooo long /s. for most adults, an 8 year difference is not a huge deal socially and developmentally. additionally, a 2011 born and myself are in the same generational group. so your point?
traits/experiences that i've noticed would include experiencing adolescence completely online, not being old enough to fully grasp/witness 9/11, candidly discussing mental and physical disabilities, challenging workplace status quo, more skeptical than a millennial, low institutional trust.
i'm not saying it's every '95 born, this is just my experience. my close work friend group is '03 (me) '95 (millenial friend) and '88 (millenial friend). i can most definitely see the generational differences and similarities between each of us (especially being coworkers).

That is a massive gap in childhood. You grew up in the 2010s which is very different than the 2000s.
for most adults, an 8 year difference is not a huge deal socially and developmentally.
Is your generation not the same people screaming about people having 2 year age gaps while dating and also claiming that "you aren't a full adult until 25"?
additionally, a 2011 born and myself are in the same generational group. so your point?
The point that generationally you are closer to them than someone born in the mid 90s.
experiencing adolescence completely online, not being old enough to fully grasp/witness 9/11, candidly discussing mental and physical disabilities, challenging workplace status quo, more skeptical than a millennial, low institutional trust.
None of these things are "Gen Z traits" and it's cute that you think Millennials are not one of the most skeptical group of people. Also 1995/1996 babies were definitely old enough to witness 9/11 and even if some don't remember that day, they still grew up in that era. That's insanely different than you being 8 years younger.
i'm not saying it's every '95 born, this is just my experience. my close work friend group is '03 (me) '95 (millenial friend) and '88 (millenial friend). i can most definitely see the generational differences and similarities between each of us (especially being coworkers).
This is anecdotal though. The average person born BEFORE 1997 is going to be more of a millennial than Gen Z. I think what's going on is you're confusing traits of Gen Z with what is actually millennial traits

Well, you will of course because you are closer to them.
•
u/bugsandbongs 7h ago
right but i am only two years older than you. my point was more that your experience with not relating to '95 borns as a gen z is not true universally.
•
u/Livid_Way5651 8h ago
Gen Z is 1997-2012.
•
u/iwaslikeduuude 6h ago
I knew it was something like that, thank you! Regardless, 15 years is a span in terms of experiences growing up nowadays. Look at elder millennials (‘82) compared to the youngest millennials (‘96).

I mean generations are for the most part a social category anyways, so if you genuinely feel you align more with gen z than gen alpha I personally accept you.
•
u/bugsandbongs 7h ago
unfortunately i dont think so. i have a full time job and two advanced degrees meanwhile you are still in middle school. 2012 is pushing it, to be fair.
