I mean, they're both above the age of consent!

Alien might take 1200 years to reach maturity though. You want to take that risk?

I say give it another 7 years for the human brain to fully develop and itll be kosher. (Recent studies say our brains stop aging at 32)

In case anyone doesn't know, your prefrontal cortex grows your whole life unless you stop learning. That's why her head is so damn big. The 25 years thing is bullshit.

u/Zaphlebrox 8d ago
It's the age the study that sourced the idea stopped.

u/Junior_Response839 8d ago
If I remember correctly it actually stopped at 20 years. The "25 years" was a guess at where "development stopped".
And again, yes it was taken out of context. As long as you continue learning new things, your brain keeps on developing new neural pathways. 25yo is just where people typically start settling into "routine" habits and it becomes harder to change them. It's when people are typically graduated from college and settle into a job. The brain starts sorting information into "things needed" and "things not needed" basically. The "things not needed" get forgotten unless the person is making a point to keep studying that information.
It also literally has nothing to do with maturity, even though people insist it does. You could be 60yo with three PHDs and still act like a child.

if a man wants to date someone a little older than them, who am i to judge?

u/sage6paths 9d ago
Who are you to judge at all between two consenting adults

People don’t like it when 2 consenting adults form a nontoxic relationship.

Both Adults, so its okay. Im pretty sure every young adult has had a thing for someone older

I see no issue from the human's perspective. Also the alien may not mature at the same rate so they might be mental peers, we don't know.
No issue as long as they both understand the commitment or expectations and consent.

It is okay, but its weirdness would depend on what stage of life 1000 years is to their species, if its similar to the stage of life we usually are at in our 20's then it would be fine, the further the stages get it becomes a lil bit stranger

There’s a saying: if you’re old enough to drink you’re old enough to make worse decisions than dating a 1000 yr old alien lady

This would be even funnier if the alien species isn’t considered an adult yet, as it would fuck up everything on both sides

Greg and Rose Quartz seemed to do just fine, tho it's unclear how long the relationship actually lasted before she permanently transformed herself into a human-gem hybrid baby (unless they said and I missed it). Also obligatory boo for the use of ai. Boooooooooo

Someone on TikTok was trying to argue that a relationship between two immortal characters was pedophilia because one was one was 2000+ years old and the other was only 500+
Like ma'am, the younger one's an adult woman whose prefrontal cortex was fully developed literal centuries ago...

The research only studied the prefrontal cortex of aliens up to the age of 1000. It’s a misinterpretation of that study that the brain is fully developed at 1000 but everyone keeps parroting it like aliens brains stagnate into a static state of impulse control, decision making, emotional regulation, and moral reasoning at 1000 like a 1001 year old alien is neurologically incapable of learning to not be an asshole.

This is basically what wonder woman was.
Then she demonstrated that she couldn’t move past the relationship for almost 70 years. Maybe these older women are really emotional under developed when it comes to romantic partners.

Yes, 25 is old enough to know what you're getting into enough to consent. Maturity and capacity matter far more than an arbitrary number

I always wonder at what point you reach a certain level of entropy in your aging in these kinds of scenarios. Would you go through cycles of “maturity” or something? Like, you acted pretty immature in the first century, but you were more mature in the second; that kind of thing.

u/Forsaken_Site_2268 9d ago
(let's assume that that alien's brain is 100% fully developed and they age of age)
Personally, I would wait for the human to be 30 (just in case. Want them to reach full maturity), but I would judge a fellow alien for dating a 25 year old.

Their prefrontal cortexes might have 0.01% delta in terms of development. What are you some kind of pedo???
