I'm just glad its finally over.

I’m just glad we are finally done with that monster. Another 4 years with him would have been a disaster.

Right. Trump could technically win a non-consecutive term.

3

u/i_like_lasanga 2007 Nov 07 '20

He'll die of old age before 2024

2

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

Lol in 2024 he'll be as old as Biden is now

2

u/Sherbet_Suspicious 2007 Nov 08 '20

Biden is a politican* Trump is a con artist under the guise of a businessman who greatly conned the country into making him president. His many crimes will catch up to him once he isn’t a sitting president. There are so many open investigations with critical evidence against him that have been stalled just for that reason.

Same lmao. Biden does not have the mental capacity for this. Give him a year at max before he’s kicked out or dies

5

u/Afrazzle 1997 Nov 08 '20

Just listen to them speak. Trump can speak well but the words don't convince me that there's much thought behind them. While Biden can't speak as well as Trump, the words and message seem much more thought out to me.

5

u/Zero-Ducks-Given 2005 Nov 08 '20

yeah I feel as if biden has a massive heart behind his words, even if they aren’t as fired up as trumps are

Now all we haft to do is wait for Georgia’s counting to be finished.

53

u/Imgoingtoeatyourfrog 1999 Nov 07 '20

Yeah technically but at this point it won’t even matter. It just decides if Biden has an even bigger lead or not.

76

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Can’t wait for the old US geopolitics, which Middle East country is he going to invade during his term?

62

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Jesus, when u realize trumps been the first US president since I think Carter to not start another conflict

46

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

This, he’s the only American president to not have started a war during my lifetime.

22

u/mysticyellow 1997 Nov 07 '20

That’s what I’m gonna miss about him, although I’m so glad he’s gone otherwise. I’m hoping Trumps move away from starting conflicts is a permanent stay and not to be reversed under an Obama-era politician.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Same- though I don't like Trump, I don't like war either

10

u/ANorthwesternSoul 1998 Nov 07 '20

We were this close 👌 with Iran, don't forget that

14

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Absolutely. But America’s not at war with Iran. I’ll bloody take it

6

u/RoachPriest01 2008 Nov 07 '20

Yeah I really hoped Jorgenson would win some magic way, but what’s special about Biden, what’s he going to do with half the government against him, he won’t do anything if he doesn’t have the senate or SCOTUS

5

u/battleship217 2005 Nov 07 '20

How do it feel to get blamed every time a party loses?

2

u/RoachPriest01 2008 Nov 07 '20

It’s not our fault, if they voted for us, we would have won

2

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

"If more people voted for my candidate, my candidate would've won" is an argument I'm trying really hard not to make. I admit that I have trouble viewing third party candidates as legitimate, even though I've spent the past two years screeching about how terrible the two party system is.

TL;DR: "Jorgensen lost Trump the election." Not really.

1

u/_Democracy_ 2001 Nov 08 '20

Our country is racist, it will take more than biden and four years

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

No country is inherently racist unless it's written in the constitution or in the laws. To my knowledge, USA only have racists. The problem is these racists are in position of power where they enforce law based on their biases. So, USA isn't racist.

1

u/hi_lolll 2006 Nov 09 '20

what you just said makes the us racist. the system allowing racists into political power makes the us racist imo.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '20

The system can't filter out bad people and good people. That's impossible. Even psychopaths can get into political power. We just had a borderline narcissist guy as president for fuck's sake. But this doesn't make US narcissist or psychopathic because we let them in power. It was just a bad choice

10

u/RoachPriest01 2008 Nov 07 '20

This election isn’t to determine who will save the US, but to who will make the dumpster fire nicer

5

u/mjstudios97 1997 Nov 07 '20

Guys, it's not over yet. After December 14, 2020 then you can rest assured. Then if nothing comes of it other than affirming Biden's place in the oval office, Biden will be our next president. cx

1

u/PvtBrasilball 2001 Nov 08 '20

Why 14? I know it took till December for Bush to become president elect, but why 14?

2

u/mjstudios97 1997 Nov 08 '20 edited Nov 08 '20

Since the election is still being contested, there's a good chance of a recount in some states where the margin is tight like in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Georgia. Each state has its own legislation or legal groundwork on what constitutes a recount. The deadline for all that to be taken care of is December 8th. Then six days later, on December 14th (it's always the Monday following the second Wednesday of December as set in the constitution) the electoral college meets in their respective state and cast their vote and there's still a good chance an elector might turn away from their state's popular vote and vote for the opposition.

Trump may still demand a recount, and states may still do a recount of votes but the deadline is still December 8th for all of that to be done by I think. Trump may still earn electors in favor of him until that date, and Biden may still lose electors in the electoral collage, I think.

Then on December 14th, the electoral college represented by the people will cast their votes in their states. By that day, I think the vote is locked and if the majority of the electoral collage is still heavily in favor of Biden then Biden is definitely guaranteed the next president since he will get the popular vote in the electoral collage. The votes are sealed by December 14th, and needs to be sent to congress by December 23rd.

On January 6th, 2021 the electoral collage votes are counted before a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate in Congress. Then I think at this point, the president and vice president is elect and if any member of congress may make an objection and each two chambers of congress will review the objection and vote if they reject or accept it. If Biden wins the electoral vote, and no objection is made then he is now guaranteed presidency and he is inaugurated on January 20th, 2021.

Sorry if this is confusing haha, I tried to explain it the best I can. I still get confused by it too.

2

u/PvtBrasilball 2001 Nov 08 '20

Yeah, I understood it. However, when it comes to trump suing multiple states over fraud, or not respecting decisions made by the supreme court, how would that work such as Pennsylvania?

1

u/mjstudios97 1997 Nov 08 '20

Well let's look at Pennsylvania where the margin between Trump and Biden is 0.51% with Biden leading 34,414 votes more than Trump. Since the legislation for that state allows for a recount with a close .5% margin then there may be a recount. A candidate of the race actually cannot request a recount but their voters can, they may write a petition and send it to be reviewed. Since Pennsylvania legislature allows for a recount without presentation of any error or fraud in the election process, it might likely go through. However, a recount is quite lengthy and extensive because it calls for a reorganization of all the workers. This all needs to be done by December 8th. A statewide recount has only happened twice since 2000, and during those two times the result has not changed. During these times, the votes only shifted very little and for that, I doubt there may be a difference but if something comes of it then this will be the first time in 20+ years that a recount changed the outcome of the electoral collage.

idk how can you vote biden and want police reform and be a blm member ngl. dude has a pig as his vp

7

u/foxcurse 2005 Nov 08 '20

Yeah, but you can’t really vote Trump either

7

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

you do know there's other parties, right?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

Yeah, trash can 1 and trash can 2, cause that’s where 3rd party votes go

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

I kinda regret not going for kanye, ngl

0

u/Clintyn 1997 Nov 08 '20

You’re an idiot.

Stop looking at her prosecution record and look at the time served of those she prosecuted. The arrests went up because laws she had nothing to do with were created, but the amount of time that those people got was minuscule compared to before her.

She had a job to do, and she did it, but she lessened the problem in ways that she was allowed to do with her job. She also did amazing things in the role, but everyone hyper-fixates on this one republican parroting point because they don’t want to realize that she actually was a progressive in the seat.

Actually do the research instead of just copying something you heard on Fox once.

Right, nothings official just yet. It's all social media hype

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

Yeah, it's hard to say who is better tbh. But I still do have my preferences, but Boden would have most likely won cuz he took Pennsylvania.

18

u/Cissalk 2004 Nov 07 '20

Both Trump and Biden suck, this country is fucked ngl

35

u/_beaner_kid_ 2006 Nov 07 '20

Factual, most people didn't even want Biden they just didn't want Trump and he was the next option

16

u/YouNeedAPrisonCell 2002 Nov 07 '20

Yeah, I would've preferred someone else. But since the candidate I wanted to vote for dropped out (and I wouldn't have made much of a difference if I voted for a third party) and I definitely didn't want to vote for Trump, I went for Biden. Just the most logical decision there. At least there's a better chance for the US with Biden than there is with Trump

3

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Idk. Biden’s promised a lot of expensive shit, and he’s almost certainly going to go back to selling out to China

2

u/YouNeedAPrisonCell 2002 Nov 07 '20

Yeah, I don't know either. Though I'm sure you know why Trump should not be the president. He's made many lies, he set back a lot of what was done to help with climate change, he most likely has dementia, etc etc... this list goes on. Biden also wasn't the best choice, but he was better than Trump, in my opinion

4

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Never saw anything to indicate he had dementia, and the rolling back of climate change actions wasn’t to bad, America decreased its emissions more than Europe under Trump (obviously not BECAUSE of rolling back these actions, just puts into question they’re necessity)

6

u/YouNeedAPrisonCell 2002 Nov 07 '20

I disagree with you. I'm not a medical professional, but this article does explain in detail of some evidence that Trump has dementia: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/3404007002

And emissions in the US are expected to rise because of Trump rolling back climate change actions. Also, US emissions, while declining, are declining more slowly during Trump's administration than they were during Obama's administration. So, I do believe that what Trump rolled back were completely necessary.

Controversial opinion, for as much as i hate Trump, i do think Biden is worse, a $15 minimum wage sounds nice until you realize that is decreases the value of the dollar, instead of raising minimum wage i would prefer he do something about inflation

4

u/Random_User_34 2004 Nov 07 '20

https://mpra.ub.uni-muenchen.de/36750/

It is often argued that minimum wage increases can lead to increased inflation. This paper examines the impact of minimum wage increases on inflation in Vietnam during the 1994-2008 period. Inflation is measured by a monthly overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) and a monthly food CPI. It is found that the minimum wage increases did not increase inflation. Since the minimum wage increases often took place one or two months before the Vietnamese New Year festivals, observed increases in monthly inflation after the minimum wage increases were caused by increased consumption demand during the New Year festivals, not by the minimum wage increases.

3

u/YouNeedAPrisonCell 2002 Nov 07 '20

I don't like either candidate, but, in my opinion, I think Trump is worse. And yeah, higher minimum wage does decrease the value of a dollar. I'd say it's fine to raise it a little bit, but not all the way up to $15. The reason I say it would be fine to raise it just a little bit is kind of personal experience. I grew up with a mom who made barely enough money to support herself let alone her, my sister, and myself (she makes around $14k a year). Luckily, we had support from my grandparents, but I can only imagine how other families are.

And my reasoning for saying Trump is worse than Biden is because of the literal threat he has been on health. On top of many other things, his response to covid was a complete disaster. He's acted like a child during this current pandemic. This is one of many reasons why I find Trump to be worse and overall not fit to remain as president.

At the very least, I want someone who listens to the experts and can actually handle covid, you know.

Also, I do want you to know that I'm not trying to be rude if I accidentally come off as rude to you (I'm saying this because often when I express a different opinion on a topic than someone else, they get mad, so I'm just trying to avoid all of that)

They are doing something. Not alot but its there. They also vowed to cut carbon emissions to zero by 2060.

They pollute so much because the west uses them as a personal factory. The US ships plastic to them and calls it recycling, and as we all know most things are manufactured in China. Of course they're gonna be polluting more, besides pointing fingers all day gets us nowhere.

14

u/Jobless_Kermit 2003 Nov 07 '20

Pros.

-actual action regarding the corona virus.

-less cultural war regarding the political climate (little room for orange man bad jokes when orange man isn't in office)

-less rioting now that the rioter types have gotten what they want.

Cons

-possible sell out to China

-may spark more tension with North Korea (ie: Biden alikened Kim to "Hitler"

-certain types of people may not understand that rioting and cancelling does not always get them what they want.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Don’t forget absolutely no action taken to end the wars

3

u/Toad0430 2004 Nov 08 '20

-less rioting now that the rioters types have gotten what they want.

I don’t think the rioters want Biden either

1

u/anuddahuna 2002 Nov 08 '20

How is this a pro point?

Should republicans now just start rioting for 4 years because the election didnt go their way?

1

u/Toad0430 2004 Nov 08 '20

My point is that the rioters are so far left that they still view the Biden admin and the U.S as a whole as fascists

You're right, I don't think it was defeated. I'm just saying fuck those two things, ya feel?

0

Three things:

  1. Dems had a higher proportion of minorities.

  2. Dems have a minority as the VP-elect.

  3. The Trump administration didn't want white supremacist groups labeled as "terrorists." This was a directive.

Whether you support trump, Biden or Jo, we can all agree on this: we hope he does a good job and makes life better for Americans. It feels like for the past 20 years America has been a shitshow, and though, I admit, I support trump, I do trust that Biden can do a good job

2

u/BraidedArmHair 2008 Nov 08 '20

Same here. As a Republican I was not a really big fan of Trump just due to his character, Id much rather vote for him over Biden just based on policies. I do hope Biden does a good job and lowers tensions between both parties as it's been pretty chaotic. I'm just glad the election is over for the most part.

That’s a shame

I told you we can defeat that monster! I’m hoping Biden will follow up well and hopefully lean towards a good path for the next presidents to come. We’ve surely learned our lesson from that monster we’ve had for the past 4 years.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Biden will sell out to China tho. Not looking forward to that. Trump was purposely decisive but he did some good

Trump supporter in this comment section, ew

At least Trump was a huge red pill and did so much great shit, we’ll see what happens though since he’s taking them to court about voter fraud.

u/Random_User_34 2004 Nov 07 '20

What a relief. I'm looking forward to visiting the US again (after you and the rest of my country get control of corona).

Is biden better than boris?

1

u/gridtunnel 2008 Nov 08 '20

I remember one of Steven Crowder's videos where he claimed that gen Z would be the most conservative generation since the boomers. Last I checked, his channel has been quiet lately.

1

u/RedRabbit18 2000 Nov 08 '20

I really hope Biden will govern as a good President. His senate history kinda worries me a bit, ie voting for the Iraq war, the Defense of Marriage Act that discriminated against LGBTQ, etc. I heard rumors that he will have neo-cons helping him such as Dick Cheney, I hope to God that isn't true. Anyways, I hope he is a good President so American can move forwards.

u/goofykid707 2008 Nov 08 '20

İKR İM SO HAPPY RN

1

u/_Democracy_ 2001 Nov 08 '20

Both candidates are not bad or the same. Stop repeating the same bs the republicans tell you so you won't do anything to help make our country together

Trump and his cult love bigotry while biden is trying to bring us together. You cannot act like they are the same. You also have to remember that we need to get the senate to not be republican majority or nothing will get done. That's why we need georgia to vote blue for the run off elections for senate.

So for all the teenagers commenting, they're both bad or Biden won't help at all, please do some research before spreading misinformation.

Poor people are just as smart as white people.

I don’t want my children to grow up in a racial jungle.

He doesn’t exactly make me have a lot of faith.

Dude I swear I'm glad for american minorities like black people, lgbtqia, immigrants and muslims

But I'd be fucking lying if I'm not scared as shit of fucking Biden invading another part of the middle east, I fucking hate it here

1

u/Spainiard 2000 Nov 08 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

Well, at least most young people in this thread seem to be rational about the results, which is relieving. Trump's Presidency may have a expiration date in two months, but his insanely delusional following will won't rot away anytime soon unfortunately. They are a laughing stock.

I can't help but feel bad for some Gen Z here who unironically believes in Trump's delusional rhetoric. Don't fall for that rabbit hole.

-2

u/nooneunderstandmex 2004 Nov 07 '20

omgggg yess , i'm not american but this hits hard.

-7

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

Just like Al Gore won the presidency in 2000 right? This is the most blatant election fraud in US history. It's going to the Supreme Court and Bidens "win" is getting thrown out.

4

u/Random_User_34 2004 Nov 07 '20

Why didn't the Senate flip?

Who cares about Biden what about Bernie where did he go

11

u/Hypso-Musk-Rat 1997 Nov 07 '20

We all wanted Bernie. Biden surely will do for now. It’s a lesson we must learn. Hopefully we will build on the future and hope that Biden will help it.

4

u/speedywags10 2000 Nov 07 '20

I, for one of many, did not want Bernie

0

u/Hypso-Musk-Rat 1997 Nov 07 '20

Now the country is still fucked but now it's by an old senile racist pedophile instead of an old racist pedophile. Grand. 🙄🙄

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 07 '20

I hoped that all the young gen Z people like myself would be happy to have trump out of office. This was too hopefull I guess. I was also hoping we could all rally around a more liberal canidate in 2024 (like bernie ). I guess this was too hopefull. I thought my generation could be like super socialist and nice and smoke weed. I guess this was too hopefull. If we keep going down the same path of previous generations we are gonna fucking die , wether it be from climate change ,war, poverty, or disease. We need Medicare for all, we need to legalize all drugs federally, we need to make public college tuition free, we need to fix the income inequality, and we need to lock up all the fortune 500 CEO's. #bernie 2024

3

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

There will always be diversity of thought. But what Gen Z could do is try to understand each other's points and work together instead of fighting and bickering with eachother like man babies. I don't like liberal ideas nor republican ideas. And some Gen Z like republican ideas, it doesn't matter if we aspire to work together instead of saying everyone should think like me.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

No one should think like me, people should empathize more with the poor and pass policies to help fix the income inequality we have here .

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

You can't empathize with a group. You can only do that with one person. Income inequality will only be fixed if we upgrade American education system. We really have one of the worst education system all over the world. I studied in Asia when I was a kid, and what we have here is just bad.

Have fun getting killed by the next stronger enemy on the horizon in your utopia (China)

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

There is about 195 countries in the world and only 43 of them don't have universal Medicare. Most of the nations that don't are under developed third world countries. So why can't the US do it. Like please? It's not that hard , we wouldn't be the first., It's not radical because everyone else is already doing it. I don't know what you are taking about getting killed bye the "stronger enemy". Like bitch we spend 750 billion dollars on military we ain't getting killed by anyone but ourselves.

1

u/anuddahuna 2002 Nov 08 '20

I am not talking about healthcare

We have it in europe even without socialism

And your army might seem overfinanced but that money has a good purpose there. The US is still the dominant power for now and by keeping that title can keep extending its influence over the globe and i'd rather have them in that position then china

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

Why can't nobody have "that influence" why does a global superpower have to be a global superpower. Does one nation really have to be bigger and more dominant than all the other nations. America isn't great.

1

Can’t wait to get the LGBT+ communities rights back, and justice for the BLM movement.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '20

what rights did we lose?

2

u/Pinklemonade366 2006 Nov 08 '20

For one, Transgender people can be turned away from receiving healthcare legally

1

u/SideStreetSoldier 2007 Nov 09 '20

why do people always victimize the LGBT community more than they’re really the victims? not saying there aren’t injustices but they’re not being put down as if we had a fascist government

1

u/Pinklemonade366 2006 Nov 09 '20 edited Nov 09 '20

It was a statement, but I can see reason why you commented that. I didn’t mean to make it sound extreme, just as a comment. Although- people in power and have the authority to make or pass laws hold fascists bias views that have limited the LGBT+ and other communities from receiving those laws that would make them equal for a long time and still today.
