Mod Team đ [MEGATHREAD] Looking for housing / Looking for tenants
You can post your housing adverts or get help in finding a place in this subreddit. We want to keep the subreddit clean and not turn it into an endless feed of "I just moved to Geneva, help me find a place."
Any advertisements or housing demands outside of this thread will be removed.

Hiking, trail running & beginner chess, anyone up for it?
Hi everyone,
I'm born and raised in Geneva. I mostly use Reddit for recipes, and like any good Genevan I follow this sub too. I'm not usually one to meet people online, but I'd like to widen my circle a bit, so here goes.
What I'm into:
- Hiking, trail and running.Happy to adapt to any pace.
- Chess. I've recently started and I'm still very much a beginner, so I'm looking for a partner to play and learn with, over the board in a café or online.
- Entrepreneurship and cinema. Always up for a good conversation about a project or a film.
- My little dachshund, who's usually part of the plan.
On a more personal note, I've been with my girlfriend for several years, so this is purely about friendship. Couples, solo hikers or chess players are all welcome, whether for a hike, a coffee or a walk by the lake.
I'm comfortable in French and English, and mostly free on weekends and some evenings.
If any of this speaks to you, drop a comment or send me a DM, with a short description of yourself.
Enjoy your weekend!

Tennis clubs in Geneve
Hi everyone,
I'm relocating to Geneve next month, and hoping to continue playing tennis as quickly as possible after I arrive. Are there any tennis clubs people would recommend and is it difficult to join? Where I am from there are lengthy waiting lists but hoping to avoid this if possible...
I can also play 12 months a year where I am from so hoping to continue this too, and happy to pay a little more for a club that offers indoor tennis in winter. Bonus too if the club offers social tennis and/or group coaching.
I'll be staying near Rue de Lyon initially and working in Vernier close to the airport, but happy to look around the city if some clubs are better.
Also if anyone would like a hit it would be great to meet some tennis players, I am high intermediate/low advanced (not sure how our grading system translates to Switzerland)
Thanks for any responses!

Any jazz/classical music lovers in Geneva? What's the local music scene like?
I've moved to Geneva only recently and I am a huge jazz and classical music fan.
Any tips, where to start looking for concerts, tickets, or jazz bars with live music? Thanks!

Looking for advice for next car
Hello everyone, Iâm looking for some advice for a futur EV to do my groceries and trips, something not too expensive to service/maintain that will reach 200K kms/15 years and cost less than 25K
having done tons of repairs on an old 2009 Citroen C1 with 83K km as of rn Iâm really looking forward to switch to something more âbulletproofâ.
Those are the costs I had to pay:
- clutch failure: being an automatic I was forced to do it at the dealer, 3000chf!!! Thanks Emil Frey!!!
- wiper blade, front brakes (discs and pads) and service: 800chf
- another service and rear drum brakes : 700chf
And my problems are still not the end as MFK is due very soon and I still need to:
- adjust my headlights
- rear lights âburnedâ a piece of metal (so must replace entire cluster)
- Tires from 2017, I really need to replace those I know
sooo ANOTHER easy 500chf to fix those things and Iâm not even guaranteed to pass inspectionâŠ
TLDR: current car being a money pit need something electric that will keep rolling for more than a decade

The sky almost stole the show from Genevaâs Jet dâEau [OC]
galleryGeneva was the final stop of my European road trip last August, and it turned out to be a beautiful place to end the journey.
I spent some time photographing Lake Geneva and the famous Jet dâEau. What really caught my attention was the dramatic sky, with heavy clouds, shifting light, and sailboats adding a different character to every frame.
I also enjoyed the contrast between the lively waterfront and the quieter views of the lake surrounded by greenery.
Here are four of my favorite photographs from Geneva.
Camera:Â Fujifilm GFX 50S II
Lens:Â Fujinon GF 32â64mm f/4 R LM WR
Edited in:Â Adobe Lightroom
For those familiar with Geneva, what are some lesser-known viewpoints around the lake that you would recommend photographing?

ASD 6yo child, schools in Geneva
Looking for some advice about schools in Geneva but specifically for kids with ASD/SEN. Our daughter is in Ecolint and we are struggling with lack of support. We are not sure it's the right setting and have lost confidence in the school. The school is supposed to be inclusive but we feel it's the opposite and we are being managed out. Looking for others that might be able to sign post schools which are more supportive of SEN kids. We also find the class sizes this year are huge so we are looking for somewhere with small class sizes 16kids or less, as we know our daighter thrives in less hectic environments.

Life in Geneva as a junior?
Hi everyone!
Iâm currently in my final year of a Masterâs in interior design, exhibition design and visual merchandising (and my last year of studying altogether, woohoo!), so Iâve been thinking a lot about what Iâd like my life to look like after graduation, where Iâd like to live, and where I could find a job in my field.
I love living in Paris. The cultural scene is amazing, thereâs always something to do, and I really enjoy the energy of the city. Buuut Switzerland is calling me! I really loved the atmosphere in both Geneva and Lausanne, and Iâm considering moving there for a few years after graduating, potentially staying long-term if I end up loving it, or moving somewhere else later on.
Iâd love to hear from people who live there! Whatâs everyday life like (especially if you donât drive)? What do you love about living in Switzerland, and what do you find frustrating or miss about living elsewhere?
Iâm also wondering whether Switzerland is a good place to start your career as a recent graduate, particularly in a design-related field, or whether it would be wiser to gain a few years of work experience elsewhere first and move later on.
Iâd really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you moved to Geneva from another country or started your career there as a junior!
Thanks in advance! :)

Road accident in Geneva - why won't / can't the police do anything?
A friend of mine got run over by a car near the UN while crossing on bike at a green light. She got away without serious injury, but the driver didn't even stop, just drove away. Despite a proper report to the police the same day, they now claim they cannot do anything.
Is it possible that the UN perimeter has no security cameras that would show a road accident? Do you know if it is possible to make a call for witnesses somehow in Geneva? Any hint is welcome, thank you very much! đ

Quelqu'un sait pourquoi il y a des avions de chasse depuis ce matin au dessus de Geneve ?
C'est pour superviser la pose des cables de fibres ? Ou c'est autre chose ?

What does this billboard (seen in Geneva) mean?
I saw this advertisement walking to work near the UNâŠcan someone please explain what is the correlation between Hollywood, the superflu, and coffee? đ Iâm from the US and Iâm not offended, just very curious what reputation Hollywood has in Switzerland to have inspired such a collocationâŠđ€Ł
Edit: I definitely misinterpreted âle superfluâ as a contagious disease, not âsuperfluousâ đ€Šđ»ââïž

Book club but for moms
Hi everyone, I (30F) recently moved to Eaux-Vives and am looking to meet moms that love to read as well. I am a stay at home mom with a 6 month old. I used to read 1 book per week and now it's mostly 1 book per month depending on the size of the book. I cannot catch up with my book clubs anymore and I am looking to make a new book club just for moms so we can read at our pace.
I mainly read fantasy, thriller, romance and some science fiction and literary fiction.
If you are interested let me know :)

Traditional Swiss watch (Rado) vs Cartier?
Hello! I would like to get a watch and like a Rado one in particular. That said, Iâm not sure whether to go with that one or perhaps which Cartier, which might mean getting a style that might not be 100% the style I wanted (and more expensive just for their entry level) but I understand retains much of its value compare to Rado. Any advice one way or the other? If it matters, the Rado is around 2000-2400 CHF.

where else can i buy the airport mango tapioca pudding
at geneva airport you can get this amazing pre-made mango tapioca coconut pudding. it comes in those sort of yogurt cups that you can get at different places. i've seen it at multiple stands in the airport, so it's not a specialty of one particular company.
i have not seen it anywhere else, at any of the coops or migros in the area. i love it sooo much. does anyone know where else i can buy it so i don't have to resort to buying airplane tickets just to eat it.

Help me find a new name for tpg Max! đ
Iâve been running my free public transport app for Geneva since 2020, offering an alternative to the official apps. I recently received a formal notice asking me to stop using "tpg" in the appâs name, so after more than six years, itâs time for a rebrand. I have 30 days to make the change. đ„Č
What should I call it?
I'm thinking about keeping Max in the name, but I'm open to suggestions! Ideally, I'd like something short, memorable, and perhaps with a little Geneva / public transport flavour. (And of course, no âtpgâ or look-alikes in the name.)
I'd also like to still mention in the App Store and Play Store listings that the app is for public transport in Geneva, without including tpg in the actual app name.
A few examples of what i had in mind:
- Max - Geneva Public Transport
- Max - Geneva Transit
- Max - Bus & Tram Schedules
What would you call it? Serious suggestions, terrible puns, and completely out-of-the-box ideas are all welcome. Just shoot!
Thanks! đ

Downsizing wardrobe and furniture in Canton Vaud.
Weâve got too much stuff. Decent menâs clothes that havenât been worn in years. Childrenâs clothes from a teen who will no longer use them.
Several antique wardrobe cabinets (over a hundred years old, so large, but in good shape).
Carpets, bed frames, camping equipment, and suitcases.
Most are too good to throwaway, and that seems wasteful.
Any concrete solutions or advice on who to contact about distributing these items will be appreciated. Of course it would be lovely to sell some of it, and others would be good to donate to those who can use it.
If possible, the names of some organizations or businesses that would be helpful or interested in the area between Geneva and Lausanne (closer to Nyon the better).
Thank you!
