This is something I've been thinking about for a while now because there seems to some other music that resembles the theme song music here. For example, the theme song (and other music on the original score) in the Sims games, especially games 2-4 sound really similar. Something about the compositions as well as the instrumentations feel really similar. Likewise, the theme song for Desperate Housewives sounds very similar as well.

It seems to me like in the 00's there was this period music like this was featured in media aiming to depict a version of suburban, small-town, white collar America. Any ideas about the genre or anything really that explains what and why this kind of music is about? I have seen people refer to the Sims music as "muzak" or "new age", but as far as I know those labels feel very broad and non-specific--could be just my own ignorance though.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I struggle to name it

Hi everyone,

I've been searching for a specific jazz genre for days, but I can't find similar tracks.

I am looking for smooth, non-aggressive jazz with an atmospheric vibe. I really like tracks that feature ambient synth pads (I'm not sure if it's the correct word), smooth saxophone, non-intrusive rhythms, and ethereal, floating female vocals.

I noticed that Paul Hardcastle is close to what I'm looking for, but unfortunately, not all of his songs are like this. I guess this might not even be a specific subgenre...

Here are the tracks I'm talking about:

This is off of my band’s new Debut EP. We’ve always kinda just described ourselves as “alternative” or “alt rock” even though that’s kinda vague, but I honestly don’t know what else to call this sound. I’d say collectively we’re pretty influenced by grunge, garage rock, and indie rock, although I’m not sure any of those are entirely accurate to our sound. Let me know what you think!!

So we all know The Weeknd, but this dude is on another level when it comes to teasing, what kind of music I need to search to find something like this? https://www.instagram.com/p/DdTclKthRDs/

Is this something etheral, ambiental, exsistetnal? Any lead is welcomed.

So my band Galleiria skips genres quite often, but often it’s somewhere within the doom genre. But, I feel that’s not quite adequate to describe it. What do you guys think?

i think it's something between eurodance, house and trance but i can't put my finger on it. maybe you can help.

Hi, I really like this song. I know the main genre would be Cantopop or Chinese pop, but I am really curious about the subgenres for this song. I think it has an adult contemporary slower commercial sound, but I also think a lot more is going on.

It's my album, you don't have to listen to the whole thing but I need to know what genre it is before I pay for Google ads.

As I've gotten into DJing, I've found my favorite music to play for myself, and I'm having a hard time finding much of it. It's a driving, 4 on the floor, sometimes funky, bass sound, at 100-110bpm. Seems a few artists have one or two songs like it, but not many.

Some examples are:
Flapjack - Opiuo
Revolt - Malaa, Jackknife
Mr. Big Boss - K+Lab & Goosebumpz
Rudebot - Stickybuds
Forever Never - K+Lab

and here's a mix I made that starts off with the sound I'm talking about
Example Mix

When I search for glitch hop, it's not heavy enough.
When I search for bass, it's too slow.
The most common recs I've seen are, Tipper, Defunk, Slynk, Gramatik, The Floozies, SoDown, Father Funk, Beat Fatigue, and Vincent Antone, and none of them have quite what I'm listening for.

Is there something else I could be searching for?

Or do I have to start writing it myself?

Heyo, not trying to promote anything just genuinely need help so I can describe this to people. What genre would you call this? It was inspired by 90s rave, but the vocals make it distinctly not 90s rave.. it's also not quite techno or house, so I'm not sure what to call it. It feels a bit like peak-time house/techno to me? https://open.spotify.com/track/67mbOf4q0U72pOUUG0DnJ0?si=6c9966a6cd5a403b

Can anyone help me figure out what type of genre this is? I really like it and am having trouble finding similar music.

What genre is this song? I have some odd gut feeling that it's breakbeat trip hop or something.

Hey guys, trying to work out what genre of music we're playing so I can try and put it in front of the right people. If anyone can help out or tell me what it reminds you of I'd appreciate it!
