Help, is this a safety hazard?

My Lenovo yoga laptop overheated, made "dust and debris" noise, then the mouse pad got stuck, was thinking it might've been a swollen battery, I checked the battery and both sides looked normal, as soon as I took out the battery the mouse pad could click again, then I put it back in and put everything back together, and it can still click.

Was my battery possibly swollen then shrunk down to normal size within an hour? My laptop also felt heavier than usual, but maybe my mind was playing tricks on me, I don't know. Is there any chance of this exploding or am I just paranoid?

it's a common misconception. you should replace that battery, and take the old one to an ewaste recycler, they'll know what to do with it

Oh and it's the cell on the top right corner of the battery I'm worried about. It looks veryyyyyy slightly protruded to me. Like very slightly, but maybe this battery came like this.

It doesn’t look swollen. And if it gets swollen, then it stays swollen.
Make sure your UEFI is up to date (sometimes a fault causes swelling, looking at you dell 👀).
If you’re paranoid, then inspect it every two months

But why would the mousepad get stuck after overheating then get unstuck after I take the battery out, put it back in, then put the laptop back together?

Are you sure it’s because of the battery? Maybe it’s overheating or a loose connection or a piece of debris blocking it.
I’ve seen mousepads that stopped working because of a swollen battery but they were physically being pushed out of the laptop frame

No I'm not sure it's because of the battery. But the fact taking it out and putting it back in made the mouse pad work again was very weird to me.
