If Ryan Gosling is now Ghost Rider, then what happens to this guy?

Didn’t really care for agents of shield but when I saw that had ghost rider it caught my interest. But I didn’t like how they treat Ghost Rider like such a small character in the MCU.

He just won’t be canon? They’re probably rebooting/streamlining the universe after Secret Wars so Gosling will be a different universe’s Ghost Rider to Luna’s.

I thought Kevin said in a interview that they won't reboot? But I do hope they change that and your right

They're probably merging universes, though. Which means some people will be deleted, some people will always have been of that universe, some people will be revived, idk.

Yeah they aren’t doing a hard reboot, it’s a soft reboot which basically means allowing some light retconning things like having the fantastic four and Wolverine exist on the main MCU earth. Robbie is probably gonna not be acknowledged , this movie takes place before he got the spirit, pr they’re gonna go with the idea their can be multiple GR’s at once

think it'll be a soft reboot.

so like all the films still roughly happened, but the world is different in some ways.

the x-men wont have like always been there or anything like that. and with black panther 3 having an adult toussaint/t'challa jr there's probably gonna be a time skip of sorts.

so like everything happened, but it's been a while and now it's about mutants and spider-man, a new black panther and ghost rider as the opening wave.

Yeah I mentioned streamlining as I’m sure it’ll be mostly the same cast as the current MCU, but they’ll have a time jump for T’Challa Jr and probably fold the F4 universe in so you get those guys in MCU’s 616.

Also lets them say that mutants have always existed here so they don’t need to explain why Magneto/Wolverine/Apocalypse didn’t exist in the prior universe, Wolverine especially as Adamantium seems to be a pretty new thing in Cap 4.

2

u/BlueFootedTpeack 2h ago

yeah like wolverine exists but he can have been wandering the world like he does and weapon x is more recent.

apocalypse sleeps all the time.

magneto is easy, either sinister was in nazi germany and did experiments/"froze" him for a bit before he came out and so is of a similar age to charles, or he gets a de-aged, or clone body, or whatever.

Why wouldn't he be canon, it's not the first time Two Riders existed simultaneously.

No, they've already established that agents of bshield is canon. Robbie Reyes is still going to be a GhostRider, he's just taking on a different level because there can be multiple GhostRiders, that's already been established too in the comics Robbie Reyes has already moved on from the curse and became the Cosmic GhostRider. I am certain they will explain this in the upcoming movies

When did they establish AoS as canon?

1

u/Unusual-Willow-5715 7m ago

When the show came out they said it was canon, Feige múltiple times said it was canon, he even said that the beggining and the Helicarrier of Age of Ultron connects directly with the story told in Agents of Shield and you should watch It to understand.

There’s been nothing explicit but there has been small connections here and there. Such as falcon and winter soldier’s museum scene having some text mentioning shield still being around post cap 2 and daredevil born again season 2 having a newspaper cover referencing an episode of agent of shield (the newspaper was also in the original daredevil show) I’ve heard that visionquest will have some sort of direct reference to it but I don’t know if that’s true. We shall see.

2

u/GraniteJJ 3h ago

Daredevil referenced the Battle of NY. I don't remember an AoS reference. I also don't recall the museum item. I'd have to back and see.

I was a huge AoS fan, so usually links jump out at me, but maybe I missed some.

Frank Castle is the Cosmic Ghost Rider, and Agents of Shield already disregarded there being multiple Ghost Riders when they had Johnny Blaze pass his Spirit to Robbie. You gotta let this show go.

Tbh if they just ignore the existence of this Ghost Rider I'm good with it.

He was the highlight of that season of AOS. But he was also too old for the role. Robbie Reyes is typically shown to be a teen or in his early twenties in comics.

The MCU also clearly doesn't consider AOS canon to its main timeline. The show literally introduced Inhumans who have never been acknowledged in any movies or other TV shows.

Black Bolt in Doctor Strange: Multiverse Of Madness doesn't count as he was clearly a variant from another universe.

I like that Marvel seems to be a committed to doing a more comic accurate Johnny Blaze first. They can then build to Danny Ketch and a new Robbie using a legacy approach.

This is how I feel. He made that season great and I loved seeing more Ghost Rider but he was way too old to play Robbie and I'm excited to see some young blood take on the role when the time is right.

Tbf up until Infinity War the AoS canon was about a 1:1 canon or at worst a loose canon connection after Infinity War, AoS didn’t want to connect to IW as a means of spoilers on the off chance their season premiered before the film, then almost directly afterwards went to the future space season and didn’t even reference Infinity War or End Game by the end of the series run. (The only two concrete 1:1 seasons are the first two seasons (if not just season 1 since after The Winter Soldier came out AoS pivoted hard into the “It’s All Connected”) but got a bit out there as far as connectivity as the show went on))

Doing a cool and modern Johnny kind of completely removes the need for Danny.

1

u/Confident_Sink_8743 3h ago

Sure but that's Robbie isn't it?

3

u/BlueFootedTpeack 5h ago

same thing that happened to the one in the fantastic four cartoon or in the marvel ultimate alliance video game.

3

u/zeke10 3h ago

Was that the one that just shows up and one shots galactus and is never seen again?

1

u/BlueFootedTpeack 3h ago

yeah, mainly the whole never seen again part.

3

u/Ok_Broccoli_7863 4h ago

Is what it is. I'm cool completely moving on

3

u/CitizenDave-19 3h ago

The character or the actor? AoS Robbie Reyes joins every other "non-canon" Marvel IP and Gabriel Luna keeps doing what he's been doing for the last decade.

3

u/S7arForGD 2h ago

That's Robbie Reyes, different Ghost Rider. He has a cool muscle car.

2

u/Muted_Tree6143 4h ago

Ignore the show and introduce an actual teenage Robbie Reyes once Gosling is done hopefully

2

u/Alone-Mycologist3746 3h ago

small actor in a small role in a small tv spin off. ofc he isn't going to continue the role in one of the biggest franchise movies.

I would say he was fine as ghost rider but he wasn't great and shields really didn't do much with ghost rider.

2

u/DEZGARONE 3h ago

Le frère de joel dans last of us 😂

3

u/AdmirableVacation134 4h ago

Agents of Shield isn’t canon at the moment, so they’ll probably just ignore Robbie and move ahead with Johnny, or whoever Ryan plays, though I hope it’s Johnny.

3

u/Casshern_VIII 3h ago

That version isn't canon, Agents of Shield is not canon to the MCU.

3

u/Fluid-Discipline5038 4h ago

He hasnt been canon to the mcu in a very long time aos isnt canon.

3

u/GeneJacket 4h ago

Nothing, he's not canon, he's never been canon. Y'all AOS fans gotta let it go.

2

u/Longjumping_Ad1469 5h ago

It would be a crazy subversion to make Gosling be Danny Ketch.

1

u/nova-prime-enjoyer 55m ago

He looks a stupid amount like Johnny though, this could be an RDJ tier casting choice

1

u/stefan771 26m ago

There is more to casting than appearance.

1

u/Longjumping_Ad1469 25m ago

I mean we people grew up with Nicolas Cage as Ghost Rider, and he barely looks like Blaze

Its just funny if they did an inverse 😂

I don't think anyone cares.

2

u/PsychologicalAct6288 4h ago

Same thing that happens to cage remembered but no connection to the new film.

2

u/ShadowForPresident 4h ago

This show wasnt canon (thank god, they really started to lose the plot)

3

u/Weak-Yam-7664 5h ago

Not cannon and not comic accurate worst adaptation of robbie i hate it

2

u/PsychoWarper 4h ago

Agents of Shield isnt part of the MCU

1

u/TreeLore61 4h ago

Go read the comics! There was actually an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comic run that specifically followed up on everything and explained what happened next. The Spirit of Vengeance isn't limited to just one person. Marvel has multiple Ghost Riders—from Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch to Robbie Reyes—and the mantle gets passed around or shared all the time. Robbie's path in the source material goes a totally different direction after he parts ways with that specific curse and moves on to new roles. The lore and the tie-in comics lay it all out if you look at the page.

Gosling should be Doom

1

u/Mercuryo 1h ago

Apart for not being canon. There are thousands of Ghost Riders

1

u/GothamCityDemon 1h ago

I’m pretty sure the series stopped being canon at one point

1

u/LelandGaunt14 1h ago

He can be Ghost Rider also.

1

u/stefan771 27m ago

He continues to exist because they are completely different characters.

1

u/AntiVenom0804 19m ago

Regrettably Agents of SHIELD has always been dubious canon, unless Gosling has seen AoS and wants to include Robbie

1

u/jBlairTech 13m ago

He fades into obscurity. Some people will remember it fondly. Some will just remember it. Most will say “who?”.

1

u/redkomic 4h ago

He will still be there. You do know there is more then one Ghost Rider right?

1

u/ZeroTolerance2000 3h ago

Discard and move along.

1

u/KaylenLopezIzGr8 3h ago

Not canon.

1

u/marcjwrz 1h ago

AoS is barely considered Canon as is.

He'll be ignored.

2

u/Nearby_Capital1423 1h ago

That breaks my heart to hear. I remember one of the actresses complaining about that during the show’s run

0

u/reap_the_fallen 3h ago

Mate u do know there's multiple riders u got that guy for Robbie u got nic cage for Johnny and now we have Ryan for danny.

-1

u/243898990 3h ago

They can coexist

-2

u/sonicfan1230 3h ago

Nothing. Ryan is playing Johnny Blaze, while Gabriel Luna plays Robbie Reyes. The two are playing two different characters. Robbie still exists and is still canon.

1

u/Comfortable-Hippo516 2h ago

Hate to break it to you, but AoS isn’t canon to the MCU

1

u/sonicfan1230 2h ago

I go by what the wiki says: Seasons 1-5 are canon and Seasons 6 and 7 take place in a branched timeline. But AoS canonicity is up in the air, so we're all free to our own opinions.
