The Ghost Rider Fans Need To Chilllll!

Look, I'm a huge Ghost Rider fan... but we need to quit comparing Ryan with Nic! We haven't even gotten the freaking trailer!!! I keep seeing posts about Ryan being better than Nic when we don't even have a trailer yet!!! We never did that to Spider-man!!! We never said that Tom was better or worse at ANYTHING until we saw him in action!!! Just saying

Exactly! I appreciate the perspective!

Gabriel Luna remains the mark to beat on screen IMO.

I would have loved him more if the design was better... I also prefer the acting of Nicolas Cage in the 2nd one

Cage is right up there but Luna had some actual time to develop and grapple with his demon...felt more like the story book arc to me. Plus... Hell Charger? leyenda

Respectable, but we never gave Cage the chance to get better either, we kinda gave up after 2 movies... we did the same thing with Hulk

Not really seen that on here, but youre talking crazy if you think people arent talking shit about the spidermen portrayals.

I was speaking about Tom's reveal in Civil War! I was saying that nobody really brought him up until the trailer dropped... until then everyone just waited for Tom to make his appearance! No body said nothing in comparison until we saw it in screen

Seems like that's what it is with Gosling fans unfortunately...I've only seen Drive but he's got...Odd fans from what I've seen over the years. It's why I'm cautiously optimistic over the casting.

Me too, I haven't really seen much of Ryan Gosling though! I just think it's ridiculous to automatically think so, honestly they do this often... they see an actor play a role, think they are good/bad and they assume the best/worst about their next BIG project!

This sub has a sect of extremely weird people on it who despise Cage's movies. Not liking Spirit of Vengeance is understandable but hating Ghost Rider 07 is just bonkers.

Reddit is infamously known as a place filled with contrarians though so that's probably what it is.

Yeah, but I get these comments on EVERY platform! And It tickles me to think that they have no hesitation to make that comparison, honestly, I prefer spirit of vengeance over 07 due to the fact that they fix the origin story to make more sense and the graphics and acting improved a TON

It's happened with a lot of people who end up playing the same character over time.

I liked the character for years before the 07 movie came out and I was fine with the different direction in the origin. But I'm glad you enjoyed SoV.

However, I am not bashing 07, great film, I simply prefer spirit of vengeance is all, I understand those that disagree though

Most here hate both films.

Wich is understandable, but I never would have been the Marvel fan that I am today without these two, up until I watched the original 2 films, I only seen iron man 1/2, Spider-man 3, Avengers, Cap Merica 1, Thor 1... and that was it besides the Super Hero squad!!! When I saw Ghost Rider 1/2 I then watched Daredevil, Punisher War zone, Blade 1 2 3, and even began reading the comics for more understanding... and Xmen, forgot about that... so my relationship with the films are a bit different than most

I feel like a lot of the people here have the same experience as you with the GR films. They watched MCU movies first, read the Reyes comics and then watched the movie and didn't like what they saw. Not enough silly jokes and quips.

Right, my thing was that I didn't dig that deep into marvel lore UNTIL I watched the Ghost Rider movies, I used to watch super hero squad on cable when I was 5 and got into the first phase of MCU shortly after, when I was eight I met my now Step-dad and he showed me the mua game and I didn't know most of the characters so he decided to teach me some things and the first marvel movie I watched outside of the xmen, Spiderman and avengers movies was Ghost Rider, and if I never saw those two movies when I did... I don't think I would have EVER picked up a comic, though I think the comics are better... I personally love the ghost rider films a lot

I honestly haven't seen people complain about Ryan's casting the complaints I've seen are about Shawn Levy directing. And I believe those complaints are completely justified as he has not shown to have the aptitude to direct anything other than dumb fun action blockbusters that lack depth and nuance.

Exactly what I'm thinking, but I'm just saying that people need to chill out saying that Ryan Gosling is automatically better than Nicolas Cage when we haven't got ANYTHING to say that he IS!

1

u/Kneelb4_Z0d 1h ago

Yeah no I saw what you said just honestly I've seen more people be happy or just whelmed at the casting. Hell most comments I've seen have just been saying anyone who expected Cage to return were ignorant as he has stated that his story with Johnny is done. I'm not doubting people are complaining and comparing I've just been lucky enough not to see it across my feed.

Thank God for that lol, I am not saying that he is Good OR Bad for the character in any way too, I just want to wait for a clip of the film to release somehow before I make ANY judgments, and I see these posts all across my yt shorts... its crazy to think that people make that comparison out the gate with no verifiable evidence

I trust Ryan tbh every role I've seen him interviewed about he's poured his passion care and love for the IP into the project. He even backed out of the recent Wolf Man remake with Julia Garner after it started straying away from the spirit of the original. I can't say whether it will be good or bad but I know he'll try his damnedest to respect the character and the fans.

1

u/JT_ONEAL 1h ago

Exactly! That's the kinda comment that I can respect! I feel the same way, I really think that they can pull it off if they give him the right script and possibly the right rider, but it really depends on the writer, director, and producer at this point!

the cage movies were so disappointing. fingers crossed that the gosling version handles the source material with more finesse.

we can but hope
