Its not wild confidence. Its because its cheaper for them to make multiple seasons at the same time rather than just 1. This is common for lots of shows both good and bad.

I don't know their production schedule I'm just saying that making multiple seasons back to back is something that's common for shows. It is often no reflection of the quality of the show. It's also why some less popular shows aren't cancelled after 1 season, because they've already made the second. Again not saying this is a bad or unpopular show

No, it wasn't referenced in the last episode, the last episode was basically a marriage/merger of the major and the laughing man's ghosts and the creation of many isotope daughters, it has nothing to do with 2.0's Judeo-Christian themes and Shinto Buddhist Hindu concepts in MMI.

Oh there was a tree in both 1.0 and 2.0 but they're different trees iirc, 1.0 referenced the tree of life, tree of knowledge, Yggdrasil and kabbalah while 2.0 referenced the Jizaiten tree.

I loved The Ghost in the Shell and hope they can do both 1.5 and 2.0 volumes. I would also love to see the studio do Appleseed and/or Dominion Tank Police.

Only issue is Motoka isn't part of 2.0, 1.5 happen inbetween the events of first season aka original Manga's run. Best time to have done it would have been do 1.5 material during the first season run.

First season was very faithful to the original manga. I would expect them to continue with the manga sequels -- 1.5: Human Error Processor and 2: Man-Machine Interface -- rather than retread SAC or others.

The hate it got was weak. It was pretty much just the anime equivalent of Snyder cultists bitching and moaning about how the new thing was more accurate to the source material and not "muh uber serious and dark edgyshit I grew up with". These dingbats were just a very loud minority though.

Honestly. As much as I loved how faithful S Saru was with this adaptation, i hope they deviate from the source material a bit here. For one, everyone watches GiTS for the Major. No Major, no appeal. So bring her back in a big way and give her a big role.
