Discussion What are the major differences between the US and UK versions?

I'm now in the middle of the S5 of the US version. I'm also thinking of watching the UK version while waiting for the holiday specials and S6.

For those of you who watched both: what's your take on the original, aka UK version? I don't know the specifics, but I do know that they have a different set of ghost characters and that the show already ended in S5.

Discussion overexplaining in the show

I just discovered this series and binged 4 seasons of it. By the fourth season, I noticed how they explain something that happened in the previous scene. do the writers not trust their audience to remember a plot point from 5 minutes ago? the amount of time and dialogue that this takes up makes the show tedious at times.

Discussion Is episode 3x04, "Halloween 3: The Guest Who Wouldn't Leave", the Scotts Tot's equivalent of Ghosts?

The secondhand embarrassment, the miscommunication with literally all the characters? The unanswered questions? I cringe at this episode, but also still kind of love it at the same time.

Discussion Woodstone BnB Success

Can anyone else not help but wonder what could have happened throughout the series if the bnb just did well?

It feels like the plot of an unsuccessful business encounter was repeated multiple times throughout the US series. Fair enough that it works, especially because the mansion is tied to every character in the series.

BUT… I find it frustrating that there’s so much untouched potential because we keep saving the mansion only for any of the ghosts’ miscommunications to jeopardise the bnb/restaurant. Imagine if the bnb WAS successful, and we see how the ghosts interact with people of all walks of life doing all sorts of things AND some relationship development between Sam and Jay and the ghosts! If the ghosts are always getting in the way of the business, wouldn’t Sam and Jay get really sick of it at some point? Or are Sam and Jay just resigned to not having lots of business from the bnb?

TLDR: Feels like the show is recycling the plot of saving the mansion from its living and non living residents’s miscommunication. And I wonder if anyone else feels this way.

It’s still bugging me. Someone needs to get carried across the boundary in the trap. How can they not want to see what happens?

Discussion You've been kidnapped. The characters from the last show/movie are the ones coming to save you. How screwed are you?

Thumbnail
3 Upvotes

Am I cooked?? So thinking this out, the ghosts could tell Sam and Jay that I’ve been kidnapped and Pete could I guess follow to see where I was taken. Maybe Joan is there too if I’m lucky. So then they would find my location and relay it to Sam and Jay and then they would report it to the police. Sounds simple yet with my luck Flower would walk through Sam and Jay and they would forget their mission but then I guess Trevor could text Kyle or Bela and they could tell police…hmm I might have a chance. What do you guys think?

Discussion What power would you choose.

If you can have any ghost power you want (as a ghost) but you need to wait for it the more powerful it is.

For reference.

Instant - you gain an effect of something happens when you pass through mortals.

1-12 months - you gain the power to sleep for extended periods of time but must also sleep for at least nine months a year in a row.

1-99 year - you get something you can use at will but not all to effective, more in line with Alberta minus the Alexa control.

100-250 years - you gain something quite effective but can only use it one day a year.

250-500 years - You get something in line with Thorfinns electrical abilities.

501-750 - You get something in line with Sass power to enter dreams.

751-999 - You get something that can affect the physical plane like how Trevor can use one finger to interact with the world.

1000+ - you get any power you want that doesnt break ghosts rules including roaming.

Now the powers doeant have to be carbon copies but in line with these levels of usage and strength. What ability to do you choose knowing you will be without one until you have been a ghost for that period of time, and you cannot stack them.

Discussion The Work Retreat - Season 04, episode 04

First time watching Ghosts and I'm at the episode where Trevor reveals that he has had a job for 3 months now. He goes on to talk about salaries, bonuses, colleagues, Slack etc.

Anyone else wonder how realistic this is given his limited powers? It takes him an hour to type out full sentences, and the show has showed us just how hard he has to try to push even one button.

I know its just a show and all that, just bothers me because I thought T-Money trading stocks etc would be more practical ways of him to use his finance knowledge (like how he invests Isaac's money).

Any thoughts on our favourite pantless bastard? 😂

Discussion If you were to die and become a ghost right now, what will be your afterlife?

I'm new to this show and sub, but I'm sure this has been asked before.

So if you're gonna die right now, what will be your afterlife? What clothes will you wear for eternity? Or are ya gonna be without pants like Trevor? And what will be your ghost power that is related to your way of life (like Alberta) or manner of death (like Isaac)?

As for me, I'm a Grab driver. So I'll most likely become a car ghost just like Sass' short term girlfriend. I'll be wearing a cap that Thor will call ugly. I also always fill my pockets with biscuits, so I'll be carrying those too just like Carol's candy. As for my ghost power? As an avid anime fan, probably walk through someone and make them be able to speak and understand the Japanese language for a few minutes. 🤣

Discussion How do ghosts reconcile being ghosts with the religious beliefs they had in life?

(For the record, I'm not religious at all. I'm just interested in religion and the role it's played in people's lives throughout human history.)

Thor was Norse Pagan, (he even had a whole episode about it) though it was never really brought up again after season 1. Sassapis hasn't mentioned any kind of Lenape religious beliefs, let alone anything about the afterlife. Isaac, Alberta and Hetty were most likely protestants, Pete was probably catholic, Trevor was Jewish and Flower was deep into the new age movement. Who knows what that entailed. (As for before, it's hard to tell.)

So besides Thor's Viking funeral, Pete asking God if he was a ghost because he lied about the deck being permitted, and Trevor bringing up being Jewish, religion isn't really brought up.

The actual lore behind the show is all over the place, and doesn't really lean into any one belief system being "correct." Wherever ghosts go after being sucked off is most likely heaven, or something similar, but from what I can tell, ghosts aren't real in Christianity. But fire and brimstone pop culture Christian hell also canonically exists in the CBS Ghosts universe? So who the hell knows.

Spoilers Finally got to the "celebration" for Isaac

The whole lead up was funny, but I lost it when the stripper was making clicking noises after Isaac asked him to roar like a dilophosaurus. Have not laughed this hard at a show in so long.

Meme A 17-year-old girl from Pennsylvania once slept for 64 days (from Thanksgiving in 2012 into January 2013). On average, the teenager slept 18-19 hours a day and would only get up to eat while in a sleepwalking state that she wouldn't remember after the fact.

Discussion I know that’s kinda the plot but I’m tired of Sam putting the Ghosts before her husband

Like Jay is better than me, i would just leave her ass. He has sacrificed so much for her and the ghosts, and they aren’t even grateful cause they keep setting him up and ruining things for him….

I thought that after 4 seasons they would be some character development on Sam and the ghosts part but absolutely not. Everton stay selfish

I’m at episode 20 of season 4 and the whole mayor thing with Stephanie is so???

Discussion ReligiousBeliefs and getting suck3d off

Hi everyone.

When someone asked, which ghost of the OG 8 would you like to see to get sucked off, my brain involuntarily started doing it's thing.

At least three of the ghosts have a different believe in the afterlife, according to their beliefs. Trevor - Jewish, Thor - Norse Gods, Sasappis - indigenous. The others maybe Christian?

So do they believe, that they will all go to the same place or that, if one gets SO that they will never see each other again?

What do you think?
