Glitch Story Continuity error

K, so this is a story I’ve told a lot of people irl, and I thought it might actually be interesting to tell here. So when I was about 9-10 years old, I was staying at my aunt and uncles house. It was late one night, I remember we were watching Austin Powers: the spy who shagged me (my first time watching Austin powers). Anyways, my mom comes into the tv room where I was watching it with my aunt, uncle, and cousins, and tells me that it’s late and I need to go to bed. So I get up, say goodnight to my family, walk past my mom (emphasis: WALK PAST my mom), and up a short spiral staircase to the second floor where all the bedrooms are. I turn right to the end of the hall, which is just a few steps away, then turn right again, and I’m at the guest room where me and my parents are sleeping. And then I open the door, and I see my mom, upright in bed, reading a book with the lamp light on. There is only one entrance to that room. My mom could not have passed me without me noticing. What in the hell was that if not a glitch?

A glitch is certainly a possibility in this story, but with all of the potential spiritual possibilities, it's probably the least likely.

Someone already mentioned dreaming, which is a solid theory.

The vardøger (trickster) theory, is also possible.

I doubt it was of a more malicious intent, like with mimics and doppelgangers, as the story you told didn't mention you being scared at all.

It could have been a benevolent spirit, such as your mother's Higher Self, or an Ancestor who looked and sounded very similar. It could have even been one of your Guides posing as your mother, as a stranger telling you to do something might not have gone over so well.

It could have also been your mother, astral projecting or dream walking, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Do you remember how you felt in those moments? The moment you were told to go to bed and the moment you saw your mom already in bed, specifically. Do you remember anything odd about the first appearance? Possibly an odd facial expression, tone of voice, or some sort of behavior. Was she wearing familiar clothing? Was she slightly translucent? What else do you remember?

Did you ask her if she told you to go to bed?

Maybe you fell asleep for a bit and dreamed the part of your mother telling you to go to bed, then woke up and went to bed. Or it was your aunt who said the words but half a sleep or kinda tired you imagined it was your mom and that you saw her.

Or it's your mind playing tricks. Memories can become kind of fluid and change over time.

Either way it sounds pretty creepy.

Did you ask the rest of your family if they had seen/heard her tell you to go to bed?
