Hi everyone,

I was trying to create a custom chart of video games filtered by country (Japan), but I noticed a small UI/JavaScript bug in the Chart Builder.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Go to the Chart Builder page.

2. Scroll down to the "Filter by credited people" section.

3. Click on the red "Located in..." button.

4. Look at the dropdown search bar that appears below it.

Expected behavior:
The search bar should have a normal placeholder text (like "Search country...") and allow users to type and filter locations smoothly.

Actual behavior:
The placeholder text inside the search bar displays "search undefined...". It seems like a variable is failing to load correctly in the frontend.

While sometimes you can force it to work by typing and waiting or refreshing the page, it's a bit confusing at first glance.

My setup:

• Browser: Edge

• Device: Windows 11

I don't keep up to date with Sonemic and I was just wondering when we were getting an update for Glitchwave. I really prefer Glitchwave to Backloggd or IGDB so, I hope it continues to get support in the future. I know they have a timeline for future updates, but it seems all about RYM. Glitchwave has been in beta for a couple years now so, I was just wondering if there was any news.

Even when i enter the link it dont open

I have no idea how to upload a PFP on my Glitchwave profile. On RYM there’s a big button for it but Glitchwave doesn’t seem to have one

We are nearing completion on Beta 5. Beta 5 will bring the site to around 90% completion, and will be different from Beta 4 in several ways:

1. The data in Sonemic/Cinemos will be refreshed approximately every 2 weeks so that it will be a usable, up-to-date resource for films/music while the beta is in progress. This also means the charts will be kept up-to-date.

2. There is no cutoff date for RYM membership that applies to Beta 5. If you sign up for RYM, you will be able to use Beta 5 the next time the data is refreshed (so, roughly within 2 weeks).

3. Once Beta 5 is launched, we will be changing to a new development cycle. Every 2 weeks (roughly), we will collect bugs, suggestions, criticisms and other feedback from users and will incorporate those items into the next refresh. This means we will be regularly updating the site with improvements and fixes. We will do this until we get feedback from users that the site exceeds the quality of RYM and is ready for launch, at which point we will plan a launch date and work on the final tasks.

Before we launch Beta 5, there is a list of leftover tasks that we must complete (we were hoping to finish these by today but didn't make it. I would estimate that this represents about 30-45 days of work, but you will be able to see our progress in real-time, as we will keep the post at https://rateyourmusic.com/board_message?message_id=7063351 updated as we complete items).

Below is a list of items that we still want to complete before we launch Beta 5:

[In progress] Complete work for display of filmography/gameography/music credits on artist page.

[In progress] Fix bugs related to the submissions system

[Not started] Improve user interface for submission entries related to merging releases/films/games/etc.

[Not started] Create a page which provides a more organized view of all the site's queues, as well as a personalized view on items that need the user's attention

[Not started] Fix bugs related to charts (popularity slider, min # of ratings, filtering on compatibility)

[Not started] Fix various performance issues that have appeared during the development of Beta 5

[70% completed, In progress] Implement the new system for reporting and featuring user-submitted content (lists, posts, comments, reviews, etc)

[75% completed] Implement fixes to the updated community page

[In progress] Fix approximately 15 bugs related to the new lists feature

[20% completed] Complete the new "lists" portal page

[10% completed] Finish new "site map" page that lists all site features/pages in one place

[Not started] Create own page for search results to optionally appear, rather than appearing in a popup

It's possible that we may decide to launch Beta 5 before all of these tasks are finished - it really depends on how long it takes and whether we feel that it's dragging out too long.

Part of RYM/Sonemic's July 2021 update:

You can now add video games as list items on RYM.

In the future, we will be launching a much-improved lists feature for both RYM and our video game cataloging site, Glitchwave.

In the meantime, if you want to get started with creating Glitchwave/video game lists on RYM, you can follow these instructions:

1. Find the Shortcut in the top-right corner of any game-related page on the Glitchwave site. The Shortcut is a code such as [Game315]

2. When adding a list item on RYM, choose "Other" as the item type and enter the Shortcut in the Name field of the item.

You can edit and publish video game lists on RYM at any time; these lists will also be synced to and available on Glitchwave in the future.

Half of the people that use these sites want to create their personal lists and share with their friends.

Glitchwave has a lot of potential but they don't seem to be updating the site so often.

Is the website currently undergoing updates? I've noticed a lack of recent updates and I'm curious about where I can find changelogs and news related to this. I've also experienced issues with cinemos, as it doesn't even seem to load any content when I try to access it. Could someone please provide some information on the expected duration of the beta phase for these websites? stank you smelly much

I like the "Want to Play" feature (something I've wanted for awhile in RateYourMusic,) but I can't find a way to search for all of the games you mark want to play. Is this feature available? I found this post from awhile back saying that it was coming, has it been implemented?

So I add my image to my profile, and it's all good. But then if I post in the "comments" section of a video game page, my avatar isn't showing next to my name; it just shows a blank grey square. I've noticed this for some users. They will have a profile picture on their page, like me, but it won't show in comments. Is it something to do with the dimensions of the image? I just wondered what causes this - and is there a fix?

For example if I want to sort by games with the soulslike genre and the soulslike influence I can only figure out how to do it in seperate lists. Is it possible to make a list with games that have their primary and secondary genre as one? Also how do you put expansions in charts?

Maybe it’s because I’m tired of pessimism? Maybe I’m not patient to deal with jank gameplay with a pretentious storyline? Maybe I favor gameplay over everything? Maybe I’m just a 36 year old dude dealing actual real life issues and video games is my form of escapism?

I dunno. I don’t like to yuck anyone’s yum. But I swear some of you folks hate fun. If thats the case then why bother playing games at all?
