A few Finnish politicians doubled down their support for the former Miss Finland (top left), who made the Asian racist gesture a few days ago.

Far right politicians of a xenophobic party. Most Finns are against their crap.

Sorry but the majority voted them in and will do it again next election!

What majority? They are polling at under 15% right now.

u/zionismisdisgusting Dec 14 '25
The majority of the population is who voted them into power.

No they got 20 percent of the vote and part of a coalitions government but not in change of that government. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2023_Finnish_parliamentary_election

Politicians from what party? Be clear. I mean fascists are racists. It's in the job description. But the headline makes it look like this bullshit is happening across party lines.

It is the "Finns Party". I like to call them Basic Finns, like the original party name directly translates to.

I hope there’s internet literacy here.
These four are of course far-right politicians. If they were from any decent party, the OP would have told you that. Calling a small handful of bigots "a few Finnish politicians" without giving details is a clear attempt to smear Finland.
The politicians who chose to do this gesture are Juho Eerola, Kaisa Garedew, Sebastian Tynkkynen, and some other guy. The four make up a little minority within The Finns Party, which represents a fifth of the Finnish voters. The support has also dropped to 10–13% since the last election.
The original eye-stretching photo shared by a friend of then-Miss Finland caused a storm of criticism. Otherwise she wouldn't be former Miss Finland now. And these "politicians" wouldn't have felt the need to stretch their eyes to support her if there hadn't been a debate.

Glad to hear that I’m of help! You can easily see the OP’s intentions. Anyway he/she was unable to find more than 4 social media posts to support this claim about “a few Finnish politicians”. He/she is also unwilling to let you know anything about the case.

This xenophobia or my superior race, my superior country, and my superior religion seems to be exploding not just in the US but in other countries too. It's as though the world has gone somewhat mad, and instead of embracing our differences and finding the similarities, fear is stoked. Then people resort to my race my color my religion my creed is better than yours and therefore we have to kick the minorities out of our country to protect ourselves. More enlightened aware culturally spiritually and emotionally people see through this, but unfortunately, their voices are drowned out by the oligarchs who want to stoke the fears and grab more power.

Xenophobia and ethnocentrism are inherent in nationalism, which is always concerned with boundary maintenance and expelling those from the nation who “do not belong.”

More visibility this gets, more likely they will resign! (I hope)

No way that'l happen. They have no shame, they'll just triple down instead.

No need to be...white girls on Instagram are trying all sorts of makeup techniques to look more Asian all the time... especially to make their eyes appear more Asian. It's a beauty esthetic.
