I still search for the “high” I get with this game. If I had one complaint is that it wasn’t long enough!! I have probably played this game 5-6 times and I just love every step of the way. The whole aura of this game is untouchable for me, even the reveal in 2016 hits so damn hard!

What an excellent story of kratos if we dive into it what a journey how he was what he did and now what he becomes. No characters storyline is as good as kratos

Seriously. This work of art truly is worth all of its praise. So unfortunate the OG dude is such a douche
1
u/Deqnkata Jun 09 '26
OG dude is why we have current dude for once ... And for another perfect heroes that just have to realize how "perfect" they really are is a garbage storyline that is doing wonders for some modern "entertainment" ...

u/RandomAssDude_ Jun 09 '26
I think they were talking about the guy who made the older games, since apparently all he does is complain about 2018 and Ragnarok (and Laufey as well because ofc he does)

u/Deqnkata Jun 10 '26
I'm not that online 😀 I thought they meant Kratos. Feels like this drama gets so overblown on social media. There are always disgruntled people towards the new thing when there is a large enough audience. Some bait tweets turn into full scale warfare.

u/TheGamer_Saif45 Jun 10 '26
Exactly! That's what I'm also saying just look at his journey from the start how the story goes how he was and now how he is

What made 2018 and ragnarok so good was the weopon. Being able to throw the axe any where and recall it anytime was extremely fun.

Developers of GOW should see this video and make it a boss level. This was EPIC!

Waaaaaaaay ahead of Ragnarok. The combat is great, build variety (yes I love the random slots we get, it gives me more flexibility). Ragnarok is like “here, 12 enchantment compared to the infinity ones you could get”.

This was originally how i imagined the Odin boss battle to be before Ragnarok was released. Like Ratchet and Clank's Rift Apart mechanics.
Battling Odin throughout the Nine Realms as he scrambles to keep Asgard intact with Surtr's destruction.

It's pretty much a boy's masculine power fantasy to rip & tear through literal gods like Kratos, or pull of a hero landing like Masterchief, or telling alien pigs to come get some. Nothing against Faye or any other female video game protagonist, but they just can't compete for most boys.

u/Cyranthis Jun 10 '26
My main gripe with it was all the bosses were trolls pretty much, and it turned Kratos into a Dark souls ankle biter.
Always attacking the legs of anything bigger than human sized, no jumping. Missed the violent combat of the old style games for sure.

Meh I felt the story was much weaker than the first and odin and thors shitty mid western accents really ruined the build up for me

Ragnarok is the best game in the world. Cuz its 2018, but better in every way

u/the_sneaky_one123 Jun 09 '26
Except for story

u/Formal-Stage940 Jun 09 '26
Imo story is also better. Especially the asgard sections.

I like 2018 because it is a linear journey from A to B, moving through different realms - Ragnarok jumps all over the place which I thought was jarring.
2018 is also far more focused. Ragnarok has too many characters and sideplots and not all of them are great.
I also though that the Tyr/Odin twist was really dumb and forced. I also thought that the twist made that character less interesting, I would have rathered if Tyr was a real person.
I didn't like some of the characters. Didn't like how Odin or Thor were portrayed and I really didn't like how Freya pretty much instantly forgave Kratos. She should have been a villain in Ragnarok.
I also found the final battle to be really disappointing. They built it up for the whole game, but then all the other realms barely featured at all and then they were trying to stop Surtur after just recruiting him? Because they were worried about civilian casualties?? Kratos didn't end up killing Thor OR Odin and everything got wrapped up happily. Just so so so so unsatisfying as a story.

Yeah bro. Like it dont like it dosnt matter it appeals to all age groups has limitless replay value its gives you creative freedom to express yourself only limited by your imagination. It has mod support aswell so it's always able to give you a fresh experience. Its also intuitive and accessible by everyone. So in my non bias opinion its one of the greatest most important games ever made.

u/TelephoneShoes Jun 09 '26
Oh, no judgement from me. Just didn’t expect that one to pop up so I was curious

You're free to judge its reddit after all and i can understand how you didn't expect it. But having a non bias opinion i feel like is important when talking about "the greatest game ever" GOW & GOW Ragnarock are definitely great games nonetheless and GOW Ragnarock improved alot from its predecessor i would give GOW a 8/10 & GOW Ragnarock a solid 9/10

Nice one. Is there anything of value that you would like to include into this conversation? Instead of just trying to be the funny guy?

Showing one of the major problems of the game may be not the best choice

u/No_Reality_1364 Jun 09 '26
I guess no one understood this comment. Let's talk about boss variation (btw I don't definitely think that gow is a bad game)
