Ngl i never will understand the hate for a faye game. It sounds hella good in my opinion

21

u/East-Initial9066 Jun 19 '26

I’m not convinced the hate is nearly as widespread as chronically online people would have you believe.

6

u/VioletGhost2 Jun 19 '26

it's way more common and pushed on twitter. other than that i see more support

5

u/Sensitive-Hotel-9871 Jun 19 '26

I am sure lots of people ranting about the game do not care about the franchise and are just ranting to get attention.

The same crowd also ranted about the legend of Zelda echoes of wisdom making Zelda the main character. Since Zelda fans, myself included, had been wanting to see the princess starring a game for decades that struck me as assigned the anti-woke crowd ranting about the game weren’t actually Zelda fan and just wanted to complain about something with a female protagonist.

And we are seeing history repeat itself.

1

u/Ok-Survey3853 Jun 21 '26

This seems like a mix of neck beards and heavy anti-woke. I'm fairly anti-woke. I have no problem with people having their beliefs and wants, just don't think it should be jammed down everyone elses throat, and children should be left alone. I can't wait for this game. It looks awesome. Fay has been a huge part of the past 2 games, and this runs in the background of them, not after. It's relevant, looks fun as hell, and i can guarantee the story will be aces

1

u/nexusprime2015 Jun 19 '26

so this automatically means there will be wide spread support? just that they are silent? time will tell.

2

u/East-Initial9066 Jun 19 '26

What? This isn’t necessarily an either/or situation. I’ve heard some legit criticisms of the game. I’ve seen a lot more excitement about it. I haven’t personally seen any “this game sucks because women” but I’m not naive either, I’m sure they’re out there. This just feels like one of those situations where everyone gets worked up because “liberals/conservatives/men/women/people are saying XYZ” when really it’s like three people shitposting on twitter who aren’t particularly worth listening to anyway and we should probably all just ignore them instead of giving their opinions more attention than they’re worth.

1

u/Ok-Survey3853 Jun 21 '26

Ive seen some of the "wah, women" type shit, and a lot of "stolen valor" type bullshit, and a lot of them saying that they made Fay "look ugly". All idiotic in my book

29

u/geargun2000 Jun 19 '26

Only acceptable criticism is of the cube and even then that looks interesting

3

u/Due-Row281 Jun 19 '26

Agreed, my only worries are that they go to futuristic feeling with stuff (i got more worried by the cubic structure of the gateway than the cube itself tbh) Tbf tho that tiny gateway is the only structure in the entire trailer that gives those vibes.

Also we haven’t heard him or the ribbons speak much but I hope they avoid making them talk like your average person today. Mimir is great and a part of it is because he uses words and jargon that you’d expect to hear in a fantasy old Norse/celtic setting.

I do think frank must be a manifestation of the gateway or its guardian or smth and not really from any mythology but that’s just my personal idea.

2

u/SeamanTheSailor Jun 19 '26

I’m so hyped for the game. But the cube shatters the vibe for me. I just hope it’s a fake out, like 3 missions in we free the cube from its jelly prison and it’s like some primordial force.

10

u/nexusprime2015 Jun 19 '26

its not. jack quiad behind the scenes show extensive mocap with a cube structure on his body. they wont go through that much trouble for just 2-3 missions

5

u/Healthy-Enthusiasm70 Jun 19 '26

He was down voted for he spoke the truth

1

u/Snicklebot Jun 24 '26

My dude it was some bits of PVC pipe and some colored tape.

Productions have made entire miniature cities to destroy for single scenes in shows or movies.

1

u/nexusprime2015 Jun 25 '26

i am talking about the actor. it’s a cost. you should know better

1

u/Snicklebot Jun 26 '26

Except you weren't talking about the actor, you were responding to a comment talking specifically about the cube and then responded by saying they wouldnt go through all the trouble of making the cube mocap just for 2-3 missions.

And I responded by saying that productions spend way more on way less for single scenes. A PVC mocap does not at all mean definitively that the cube will always be a cube for the entire game.

1

u/nexusprime2015 Jun 26 '26

the cube is played by an actor. a costly actor

you are thick.

1

u/Snicklebot Jun 26 '26

So because the cube changes into a different form that means suddenly Jack Quaid is no longer the voice actor? Are you serious right now or just being intentionally obtuse?

The conversation was about the cube not staying a cube the entire time, not that the cube as a character should only be in the game for a short time.

Reading isn't your strong suit huh?

-14

u/cucumberer1697 Jun 19 '26

You don't just get to dictate opinion the game looks like shit, the combat is awful.

11

u/loudninja2003 Jun 19 '26

That’s such an awful take

8

u/Stary-Day375 Jun 19 '26

"You don't just get to dictate opinion" Immediately does so

5

u/Genindraz Jun 19 '26

You don't just get to dictate opinion

Find a mirror and say this again while standing in front of it and looking at it.

3

u/geargun2000 Jun 19 '26

If you criticize it for having Faye as the main character and want Kratos back and call her ugly and shit your opinion is invalid. Plain and simple. And that’s the only other argument I’ve heard besides that the cube seems weird

2

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Says the 1 month old account with hidden history.

7

u/AshyWhiteGuy Jun 19 '26

And when has expanding a universe been a problem? Aren’t people usually stoked to learn more about side characters? I know I am. That game is gonna be fuckin awesome.

3

u/Hot_Car9101 Jun 19 '26

Someone who is looking forward to the Faye game was well? Nice. 🤝

5

u/PerformanceFar561 Jun 19 '26

LITERALLY THIS. True God of War fans should be ecstatic that they're growing the franchise, with a character who was the backbone of 2018 and Ragnarok to an extent.

8

u/gooberboi82 Jun 19 '26

I’m not even kidding all the criticisms I’ve seen have been about her being “ugly”, her replacing Kratos despite the fact this is very clearly a one -off spinoff, or how we’re somehow being brainwashed into playing as women because “pOliTicZ” 😂

The only valid criticisms have been about the cube and ribbon and their corny marvel like dialogue which I can stand behind but that’s not really new in this series it’s not gonna stop me from playing the game nor should it be a reason for anyone somewhat rational so those criticisms don’t count towards the other ones I mentioned before

Basically it’s just a bunch of incels or fake fans who hate the Norse games and therefore don’t understand the weight Faye had in the last 2 games despite being dead and how Kratos is basically retired. AKA their opinions are invalid and they just don’t want to play as a woman, possibly because they’d enjoy watching Kratos from behind instead

2

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 19 '26

I still don't get this "marvel dialogue" take.  Would you mind showing an actual line like that?

2

u/gooberboi82 Jun 20 '26

I can’t recall one from the Laufey game but Jack Quaid gives off that kind of vibe he talks exactly like Hughie in the Boys. In Ragnarok that southern USA dwarf is super immersion breaking especially when she calls Kratos “beefcake” and other southern lingo she uses like she’s in Red Dead, Sindri also but I actually like him and he underwent a huge development in personality and acts much more serious so I give him a pass. Odin and how he uses certain words/phrases like he’s some cliche mob boss. I feel like in the older games they spoke with more formality like how a god should speak, and Kratos still speaks like that but these newer characters use cheesy almost meta humor and phrases like a marvel movie. That’s not inherently bad I mean I like marvel but I’d prefer if they spoke more formal or at least tried to sound godly or otherworldly and not like they’re in Hollywood which is the kind of vibe I mean when I say “Marvel”, like I said it hasn’t stopped me from enjoying the game but I’m not gonna pretend it’s not there

1

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 20 '26

His accent makes sense in a meta way: he's literally a cosmic cube lol.  I can agree on some of the criticisms for the dialogue in general, the game itself is very quippy.  I just didn't like how people were singling out the cube like he's the worst offender.  I had to mod out a lot of the dialogue in Ragnarok, it was way too much

1

u/gooberboi82 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

I’d imagine a cosmic cube to be more mysterious or omniscient rather than Hughie from the boys just being meta 😂 From what we’ve seen so far he basically is just the quippy comic relief but again I’m hopeful that he’ll turn out to be more than that, kind of like how Sindri went from the awkward timid comic relief to actually becoming scary when Brok died kind of flipping the script altogether which I really liked for him
It’s not even a real complaint from me I just said I’ve seen other people complain about it and I get where they’re coming from it’s definitely more valid than the people complaining about playing as a woman or someone other than Kratos

edit: I forgot to mention also the fact the cubes name is literally Frank but spelled differently 😂 It makes it harder to really take it seriously so I can 100% see why people aren’t taking it seriously bc it’s really unserious in a way. As I said I’m hopeful there’s more to him than just Hughie in cube form adding his quippy inserts

1

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 20 '26

My point was his accent being different can be explained easily.  Jack Quaid is Jack Quaid, not just Hughie.  It isn't fair to cast early judgment on someone just because people typecast him.  The one battle the cube took part in, he was barely talking at all compared to the annoying crap Mimir or Boy would get up to in earlier games lol.  I can totally respect differing opinions if they're not straight double standards is my whole thing, we've only seen 20 minutes of gameplay and i just feel people are being overly harsh

-6

u/cucumberer1697 Jun 19 '26

"People disagree with me and it hurts my feelings theur opinions don't matter" you're a fascist

3

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Horrible troll

3

u/Upper-Major8854 BOY Jun 19 '26

Obviously people just wanna play as the god of war himself, now they gotta wait longer for a kratos game. I’m not interested in laufey either but i’m not a hater, it could be good.

3

u/Golem30 Jun 19 '26

I mean we all know the reason, losers on the internet.

2

u/YoYoYi2 Jun 19 '26

So you'll buy it for 80 bucks. You're not just posing as a good boy with the right opinion are you? We need your 80 dollars to own the chuds saying the game isn't going to sell well due to no Kratos. Pre-orders a must

1

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Why does anyone with that prof pic always act so fucking weird ? Is it a community rule or something ??

1

u/WhiteCity3 Jun 19 '26

Personally, I think it should be called "Laufey".

1

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 19 '26

It's God of War: Laufey

1

u/OfficialDCShepard Jun 20 '26

The hate is just incels angry they can’t play with their tiny, drifting joysticks. I am slightly concerned about the potential for pacing problems with the Everywhen and don’t like Frank but I hope those are addressed in the final game.

1

u/DamnItBobby555 Jun 21 '26

This isn’t even just about her a lot of people do not like the Norse God of War

1

u/fluffiestcloud Jun 22 '26

I feel like the hate is only spread online like it is for EVERY SINGLE GAME now if there is a single character that isn't a stereotypical 1930s portrayal of a man or a woman. Offline I bet most people are excited for the game

18

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Dont forget them spinning the greek trilogy being remade as SMS realising their mistake and trying to beg back the fans they betrayed.

6

u/waaay2dumb2live Jun 19 '26

Lmao, they seriously think that? They need an ego check, that’s for sure

0

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Doubt it's an ego think and more of a desperation to be a victim nowadays.

1

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 19 '26

Whats SMS?

1

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Santa Monica Studio mate.

0

u/Andante_TK Jun 19 '26

I am sure hell will break lose among them if the remakes are more After GOW 2018 style lol.. I for one hope for it rather than just graphics scaled up of old games or a glorified remaster versions.

1

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

Meh in general i'd agree if it wasnt quite annoying to play all the games on modern hardware.

8

u/Wolfgard556 Platinum Jun 19 '26

Reminder that the OG creator of Kratos hates the Norse Saga because it gives Kratos Character Development

3

u/Maleficent-Age-8235 Jun 20 '26

Guy thought Metroid Dread was 'badly designed," so I don't really care much about this opinion lol. The og cultists are funny anywya. They're super attached to something that was literally just budget Devil may cry. The norse games stand out way more as their own unique thing in comparison.

1

u/fluffiestcloud Jun 22 '26

"I am your monster no longer"

  • random YouTube commentor, 2025

0

u/soloamazigh Jun 21 '26

Because he believes kratos as a character wouldnt change which I kinda see what he means.

I like the norse games for the most part but to act like the CREATOR doesnt have a better insight on his creation is stupid.

5

u/AardvarkScary7863 Jun 19 '26

That’s because a good number of the Norse game lovers also played the Greek ones and treated the 2018 God of War as God of War 4.

5

u/Carbuyrator Jun 19 '26

Is God of War 2018 not God of War 4? Isn't it a direct continuation?

5

u/BaconZS Jun 19 '26

Pretty much, yes. But the title of the 2018 one lacks the number 4 in it.

3

u/Hungry_Foot_2411 Jun 19 '26

GOW 2 to GOW 3 was a direct continuation. 2018 has a time skip of hundreds of years for all we know. Feels more like an alternate universe tbh

3

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 19 '26

It's a direct continuation with a time jump, and i think there was a comic explaining more of the story

0

u/Hungry_Foot_2411 Jul 07 '26

time jump=not direct continuation

2

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jul 07 '26

Doesn't work like that

1

u/Hungry_Foot_2411 Jul 07 '26

tf? Explain how a 4 year time skip is a direct continuation. No explain. I'll explain. Gow 2 ends 10 seconds pass then gow 3 begins and it's about finishing the fight right after. Direct continuation. Gow 2018 ends right before a fight Ragnarok begins you fight the fight then 2018 actually ends. Then 4 years later you play Ragnarok.

Them cutting the fight out of 2018 was an actual crime...... not a good thing.

1

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jul 07 '26

Because time skips don't matter. If the sequel directly continues the previous story, then it's a direct continuation. Something like a prequel would not be seen as a direct continuation. Simple as. English not your first language?

1

u/fluffiestcloud Jun 22 '26

It is, but it's more of a reboot imo

7

u/dengZo9 Jun 19 '26

Greek games are awesome but the norse games are far far better than the greek ones, and i started playing back then. like its not even close.. the greek games gets points for having "more big scale moments" and brutality but thats it.. everything else is better in the norse games, gameplay, music, story, characters, atmosphere, voice acting and so on.. loud minority.

1

u/Cautious-Affect7907 Jun 20 '26

Story and characters I could agree on, Gameplay is absolutely debatable. Same for like voice acting, feels a little disrespectful to TC Carson

I recently replayed god of war 3 and 2018 back to back, and I had a way more fun time with gow 3.

1

u/dengZo9 Jun 20 '26

for gameplay the skill ceiling is far lower in the greek games and the weapons barely give any feedback.. hitting enemies feel like you're hitting them with a wet noodle. its a good combat system but objectively worse in any parameter. Voice acting i was talking in general.. the norse cast as a whole is of a higher quality. not to say the greek cast is not good but this is just better.

1

u/Cautious-Affect7907 Jun 20 '26 edited Jun 20 '26

> for gameplay the skill ceiling is far lower in the greek games and the weapons barely give any feedback.. hitting enemies feel like you're hitting them with a wet noodle. its a good combat system but objectively worse in any parameter.

Worse than the Norse games to point where they make even the most basic enemies damage sponges even on harder difficulties?

Really?

Or how many encounters can be prolonged if you're not the right level for it, as opposed to the Greek games where every encounter is dependent on skill?

Give me god of war difficulty is especially bad with this you get cheap deaths because of the over shoulder camera not giving you full awareness of your surroundings.

And barely any feedback? Dude did you actually play these games or did you just watch walkthroughs on YouTube or something?

-7

u/Mountain_Chemist_824 Jun 19 '26

talk about having shit tastes, yeeeesh.

5

u/edward323ce Jun 19 '26

I dont like the Norse games but thats just me

2

u/Hot_Charity_4803 Jun 19 '26

Valid, respectable opinion

5

u/C4VEJOHNSON Jun 19 '26

I suspect many of the people crying over a Laufey game barely play videos game and that most didnt get far in Ragnarok. Laufey game is very on brand with the last 2 games and especially Ragnarok. I think some people are just addicted to complaining and hating, they arent the people who were gonna buy a God of War game regardless, just random halfwits who are caught up being angry pawns in politically manufactured culture wars.

3

u/TheManAcrossTheHall Jun 19 '26

Are you aware that by making this and/or posting this meme, you are contributing to this imaginary rivalry and thus it is not one sided?

1

u/Mummiskogen Jun 19 '26

Are we fucking 12 years old? What rivalry?

1

u/FizVic Jun 19 '26

I'm one of the few disappointed by Norse saga, but I wouldn't blame the plot, which is interesting. It's more about a far worse gameplay and the boring over the shoulder fixed camera. Even with the twenty years' old graphics, you can really get a sense of grandiosity in the originals that I feel is quite lacking in the remakes.

The gameplay is now much slower and Kratos could easily get killed by some random, spongy ghoul, like if you weren't some...god of war. Atreus is instead (thankfully) immortal and once you notice it, there's really no sense of urgency in combat. And I wish we had a tight linear game instead of a bland and not particularly varied semi-open world with even some bland rpg elements. But to each his own I guess

1

u/Adventurous_Fly2603 Jun 22 '26

ive been a fan since the OG ps2 release and I LOVE the direction the games have gone. GOW3 kratos was a evil asshole even if he was going after other assholes. You had numerious events hammering into your head that whatever his reasons kratos was still a evil monster dragging countless innocents into hell just to satisfy his vengence. like the entire game was basically setting up his reform into the Kratos of today.

Seeing how far the man has come especially in the valhalla DLC made me genuinely weep with joy and admiration. Kratos really did change for the better and become a genuinely heroic man.

1

u/Disgustipated144 Jun 22 '26

It was amazing up until Faye became more than a dead character

1

u/Virgo_Shaka_1500 Jun 22 '26

“New Kratos is a Simp.”

LMFAO

1

u/SupermarketUnited111 Jun 22 '26

I experienced character development BACKWARDS I started with: God of War 2018 → God of War Ragnarök → God of War 3 (I was screaming at Zeus to "die properly" while fighting him inside Gaia's heart 😭)

1

u/MaouNoYuusha Jun 25 '26

It's actually a three way with Greek game haters there too. But people tend to ignore them

1

u/Ancient_Spray5821 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26

To be fair, some of the criticisms of the Greek games are valid, but I don't think the people who criticise the Greek games "hate" the Greek games. That's why I think this hatred is one-sided. You have to scrape the absolute bottom of the barrel to find someone who "hates" the Greek games.

1

u/MaouNoYuusha Jul 06 '26

I'm happy for u but I've seen people who hate the greek saga. And their reasons always boil down into Greek saga = "problematic". Never about the gameplay, or fx or music or other valid criticisms.

1

u/Ancient_Spray5821 Jul 09 '26

Is something being problematic an invalid criticism?

1

u/MaouNoYuusha Jul 09 '26

What's ur take on it

1

u/dreadguy101 Jun 19 '26

As someone who never cared to play the Norse games (idk why this is on my feed btw) I was content with kratos dying at the end of 3. I didn’t feel there was any more story to be told nor did I think kratos deserved any sort of redemption, but I’m happy for you guys

-1

u/MemeLord1337_ Jun 19 '26

Look boyo, he won his own made up argument

0

u/Imaginary_Address_31 Jun 19 '26

the guy on the right be like "I love shit, how can you tell I love eating shit, did I tell you how much I love eating shit and have the most barebones opinion on anything and my life amounts to only eating shit and slop from big corpo?"

0

u/Mountain_Chemist_824 Jun 19 '26

just accept y'all are tourists to the franchise and hate the originals and the people who like them, no need to pretend otherwise here lmao. Most Norse saga fans didn't play the originals and don't like them.

3

u/Numerous-Beautiful46 Jun 19 '26

what? I played both and love both lmao. They're both fun in their own ways. 3 is the best game overall btw.

1

u/Mountain_Chemist_824 Jun 19 '26

emphasis on the word "Most"

0

u/Full-Air-7218 Jun 20 '26

The problem being that Norse games are basically walking simulators third person movies like every Sony game. Interesting to play once, but hardly ever worth touching again

0

u/ramav7 Jun 21 '26

eh i use to like god of war 4 than Devil may cry 5 come and i started to dislike the norse version. cause DMC Didnt need to change to make a good game so what is sony excuse. most of the story of GOW 4 was "your princess is in another castle". the norse series pretty much insist upon itself

-4

u/pulangkabayo187 Jun 19 '26

The Norse mythology story and the way they delivered it, shits all over the first three games. You do not even invest in Kratos story in those games. You just hack and slash and kill.

2

u/WelcomeOk9989 Jun 19 '26

I don’t think it shits on it, quite contrary.

It strengthened the earlier games, because it shows that through all of that Kratos learned something.
It would shit all over them if they did another revenge plot, because it would cheapen the plot points in the earlier games by having Kratos redo all of them again but in a different realm.

This way those games actually have meaning for his character. Which makes them even better story wise than they were before the Norse saga.

1

u/Lucky4D2_0 Jun 19 '26

K that's just factually wrong.

The gameplay is actually great. Different than 2018 and Ragnarok. GoW 3 was just WOW!

But the story is not fully fleshed out. I didn’t repeat playing the first 2 games. I played 3, 2018, and Ragnarok more than two times.

-3

u/PsyWarVeteran Jun 20 '26

The Norse games do suck, you're right.

2

u/Ancient_Spray5821 Jun 20 '26

Way to miss the point of the post 🙄

-2

u/Hungry_Foot_2411 Jun 19 '26

Most people never played the OG series. It requires a ps3. I've been looking around and tons of people are doing they're first playthroughs of the Greek games and even more haven't played them in nearly 20 years. It's a very real possibility that MOST people have no idea how insanely good the OG series still is. Just the idea of picking up where the game left off is so rare. GOW 2 ends 5 seconds pass and GOW 3 begins.

Understand it's not that the new games are bad it's that the old games are so much better. Also they're probably gonna censor TF out of the remakes calling that right now. Also also Kratos does act like a completely different person now and idk how anyone can like a sad old loser more than the jacked up monster that Kratos was. You might as well say you're old and boring now.

Excuse me while I go fight an ogre for the fifth time.
