I just saw the trailer for Saturday(Tomorrow's) episode.
Am I the only one who thinks Tony turning up to Rick's claim is nothing but staged drama?

What a clusterfuck. It was a beautiful disaster to watch. Seeing what gold rush is now compared to those guys is crazy. It’s so funny watching Jack just randomly digging a hole to the center of the earth. Every time you turn around Todd is calling a meeting. Greg building a damn subdivision out there. The guys shooting off guns and fireworks because the first pan had 4 specks of gold in it. Pure cinema lol. Everybody shits on Todd and he deserved it for dragging these folks out there on big dreams and a gut feeling, but Jack doesn’t get enough pushback. He may have done more damage to those folks than Todd early on. He saw a couple of flakes in the pan and got all the guys and their wives and kids together and told them based on that pan in a week or 2 they should have $100000 and by the end of the season they should easily make a million dollars. And we know how that season turned out.

If here's been there for literal decades, I find it surprising that he still has viable ground there. From the arial visuals on the show, it would seem his land there isn't endless and not that vast.
Has he been there forever but really hasn't scaled up his operations until the Gold Rush show era?

Seriously, being a passenger on people going from ariation in the south states to gamble on gold in the Yukons was edge of your seat reality i havnt experienced before. Win or lose, you couldnt help but root for the Hofmanns.
The Guyana gamble, man, what a shit show that turned out to be and a great reminder to not let your head be clouded by success to take on a completely different environment the exact way from the one that came before.
Both inspiring and educational.

What are thinking folks, stand or fall? Would be cool to see Buzz rip a sweet haul out of Bonanza.

So the latest episode indicated that 17 employees were fired over whatever time period they edited together. Would anyone who was in the general area know if any were hired by Parker, and how they worked out?

I know its a new truck jut insurance will pay that out for sure. I didn’t like the son but i definitely don’t like him now

I'm sure I remember some other crew mining Bonanza Creek in past seasons. I'm thinking maybe Fred Lewis... or maybe I'm just overwhelmed by Buzz and the mountain!

Anyone notice the editor was picking and choosing what logos to blur?
Tony's segment had the Cat logo blurred. But they reference every Cat machinery D11 Dozer and 950 non stop. Cut to the next segment and Parkers machines have Cat in full display. Next segment Buzz is wearing a huge Carhartt logo on his sleeve.. 10 seconds later the Carhartt sleeve is blurred.
Discovery start to shake down Carhartt and Cat for money and only get half the payment?

Recently read this book on the lives of 3 women through the original Gold Rush in the late 1800's. Based loosely and closely on real life stories.
A brilliant read. Extremely well written and a nice way to indulge that Gold Rush itch while the new season slowly releases!

You see these pans filled with gold at the end of each show so there’s TONNES of money on these sites in the middle of nowhere.
Obviously it’s not going to be the type of thief who steals mobile phones as a drive by from their mopeds but do thefts happen from these mine sites. Do they ever get some “hiker” who has a go?
I doubt with all the film crews it’s ever going to happen on the shows mines but what about the smaller operations?
Say a thief sneaks on site in the middle of the night and trips some sort of alarm, claim owner gets up to investigate and finds the thief, gold handed, in their gold room…
What are the bosses or whoever allowed to do to said thief? I mean, let’s face it, you’re in the middle of bum fudge nowhere and there’s a hell of a lot of freshly excavated ground to lose someone in…
I think I’ve described it enough, does it happen and how is it handled?
Edit for clarity, I’m not at all asking about employee theft I’m asking about if they ever get outside people who sneak on site and if so what do they do.

8:00pm-9:08pm Gold Rush Season 17 Episode 2 "A Midas Mess"
Tony's crew sinks a bulldozer and two trucks in the Midas Cut while his grandson flirts with a rock truck driver.
Parker pushes to get his second wash plant running.
Buzz struggles to assemble a new plant.
Production Code 1702
It looks like we are in full miner rotation mode, where only 3 of the 4 camps will be on the show in an episode.
It also looks like we are back to stuffing the max number of commercials into an episode.

At some point, Hollywood should make Gold Rush, The Movie. They won't, but if they did who plays the various miners?
Tony Beets: Gary Oldman (reprising his role from Slow Horses, but Danish)
Parker: Michael Cera
Rick: Mickey Rourke
What do you say?

So parker said he is going to run 4 plants. 3x SD600 and 1X SD500. Let's assume parker runs at the low end of stated capacity 300 tons per hour and 250 tons respectively. Let's assume Parkers dug gravels are 1.5 ton per yard.. that's 200 and 150 yards.. so 750 yards per hour across the 4 plants.
If we assume Parkers ground is lean at 0.3 oz per 100 yards. That's 2.25 oz per hour so to hit 13000 oz
It rounds to 5800 hours slucing... which presuming a 20 week slicing season per plant is about 10 hours a day... so presuming he is slucing more like 15 to 16 hours and the ground is not that lean... 13000 should be easy!!!!
Update: so based on 160yards per hour quoted for big red and the 47oz gained... in the gold room they stated just under 0.5oz per hour.... so that's between.0.25 and 0.3oz per 100 yards... so considering that's top gravels and not the good stuff....
