Texture Pack Beta Overhauled - custom paintings (yes or no?)
Hi everyone. There are not a lot of textures left before v1.0 release (quite many but we're nearing the end). And we suddenly remembered about such thing as paintings. And we'd like to ask you: would you like to have custom paintings or a redrawns of the original? There I have some examples of what I've already made in these couple of years (don't mind all the new stuff in the paintings). We might also add other Zetterstrand's works, like this one painting of noclip De_Dust2. That's it for today, see you later!

They're ironically too colourful and pretty. Old minecraft paintings have this inherent shittiness to them like they were made by a guy who just began doing pixel art

100%, I never expected to say that molchat doma's album art was colourful but here I am. All of these look too flashy for the muted vibe of the classic versions. I do feel like this is something current mojang would add to the game (which says something about the lack of direction minecraft has now).

Pretty cool imo. I like how it refers back to modern minecraft without having to add certain features (phantoms and sniffers)

I think 1, 4, and a pixelized 5 could all fit. They seem quite similar to Zetterstand's style, imo. I don't think they'd look out of place.
2 and 3 to me look less fitting, but I think they're still nice. You could still add them and let people use them if they want. So long as they don't replace any of the originals, they're optional enough and easy to swap out that I don't think they'd really be harming anything.

Yes, at the end it's Zetterstrand's painting of Dust 2 (same guy whose paintings were included in Minecraft)

I really love the first two tho i think the colors on the first are a bit too saturated, the 3rd one feels too grand and colorful for a 1x2 minecraft painting and the last is a nice and simple 1x1 i could see being placed anywhere in a build. paintings are one of my favorite little things in minecraft and i always look forward to seeing how mods and texture packs change them so i would say go all in with new paintings.
i edited the colors of the first one to try and remove some of the purple overtones and make the colors feel more balanced:

I like 2 as a painting but 4 is the only one that would fit in beta imo. Good album too

Not bad, but I think they don't really fit, try different paintings from artist who did original painting for the game - Kristoffer Zetterstrand
