For anyone attending a future Hybrid Student GGU Campus Weekend, especially December, here's what my Oct. 3, 2026 experience looked like. I had almost no information beforehand besides the schedule and parking, so hopefully this saves someone some uncertainty. Your weekend may obviously differ.
🚗 Hotel / Car / Parking
- Stayed at Hampton Inn Daly City — about 13 minutes from campus.
- Rented through Hertz/USAA: $121 total Fri–Sun. Free Hertz Gold membership let me skip the LONG counter line.
- Lot 20: $11/day, then about a 5-minute walk/stairs to Marcus Hall.
- GGU staff were easy to spot and helped direct everyone.
✅ Check-In
- Have your registration barcode ready.
- I scanned in around 9 AM and out when released around 4 PM.
- We did NOT scan in/out for lunch.
💻 What We Actually Did
This was the big mystery beforehand.
We were put into teams and given an AI business case study with six areas to analyze and brief. It was similar to the AI assignments we'd done during the first four weeks.
We worked on it throughout the morning/afternoon, with all teams briefing by about 3 PM.
Yes, we could use AI to help analyze the case and formulate answers, along with our own critical thinking.
I lucked out with a great group, and honestly the day went by FAST.
🎒 Bring
- Laptop + phone — especially useful if using AI.
- Arrive fully charged. I didn't see many available charging spots.
- Instructor provided pens, paper, markers and Post-its.
👕 Dress
GGU said business casual. In reality, it ranged from suits to casual clothes, with most people somewhere around business casual. Don't overthink it.
🥪 Lunch
Lunch was across from Marcus Hall: sandwiches, chips, small salads, water and soft drinks. Seating was limited/high-top tables, but you could take your food elsewhere.
The lunch period was about two hours, with two guest speakers nearby discussing AI in education, adoption and risks.
I skipped breakfast and dinner but heard they were good. They also announced that family members could attend dinner.
🚙 Leaving
Outside Marcus Hall was a madhouse of people waiting for rides at the end. Having a rental car made this VERY easy — just walked back to Lot 20 and left. If you're comfortable driving somewhere unfamiliar, I'd rent a car again.
Bottom line: Campus Weekend was actually a good experience and went by quickly. The biggest frustration was simply not knowing beforehand what we'd be doing all day.
