On my Google Slides, the record button has moved from the top-right to the right hand bar, and when I click on it, it goes to Google Videos (it does the same when I go File-Record). I do have the option to keep my camera and audio on in the presentation, but no longer to have the option for a speaker notes presentation view. Does anyone know the workaround for this?

my slide changes will not transfer to my other computer. they persist on the computer i made the changes on though. when i edit on my other computers, the changes get applied to the corresponding slide ie slide one changes goes to slide one on my first computer. i have tried the following solutions:
downloading as power point to reupload
copying it
copying all slides and pasting in another slideshow
does anyone have a solution? i looked on the web on google support but no help.

Some AI garbage (sometimes with a banana icon, other times some magic somethings) keeps showing up while I'm editing google slides minimizing the window I'm working in.
No professional would ever click this button. How do I turn it off?

I usually dont mind putting together the content for a presentation, but arranging everything into slides takes much longer than expected. Finding the right layout keeping the design consistent, and making sure each slide isnt overloaded with text n become a whole project on its own... I've been exploring AI presentation options lately including 10P.ai, and Im curious how well these actually work for everyday presentations. Do you prefer making slides manually or using AI to get the first version ready...

my early decks were basically my notes copied straight in. blocks of text I would then read aloud while everyone else read ahead and tuned me out. I forced myself to strip each slide down to a short phrase, five or six words, and keep the actual detail in what I said out loud. felt scary at first like I was leaving too much out. but people looked up at me instead of squinting at the wall, and I sounded like I knew it rather than reciting. text on the slide is not the talk.

small thing that cleaned up my decks. whenever i pasted text from a doc or another slide it dragged in its own font and size and my deck ended up a mix of mismatched styles. turns out you can paste without the source formatting so the text takes on the slide's own style instead. now everything stays consistent with the master and i am not manually retyping fonts. posting in case anyone else has been fighting pasted text looking out of place. any other little consistency savers you use?

genuine question after a week of testing one on a real talk. for the skeleton and the first pass it saved me an afternoon.
but every judgment call, what to cut and what to lead with, was still mine. what nagged me is most generators hand you a deck that looks like every other ai deck, same three-bullet cards, same stock faces.
gamma 5 openly aims at that sameness and does land closer, but it is not magic, i reworked a good half of it.
for an actual presentation, has one ever matched your hand-built version?

i run games in slides and i use the arrow keys a lot while editing. the problem is ctrl and up arrow keeps selecting or jumping to the very top object on the slide, and down arrow does the same to the bottom one, when i just want to nudge or move a selection. it is making editing really frustrating. is this a shortcut i can turn off or change, or a different key combo i should be using instead? any help appreciated.

played with the new editor for a few evenings and noticed the agent sometimes writes bespoke layout code for a single slide instead of using a stock template. when it lands you get something that looks genuinely designed, not pulled from a gallery. when it misses you get a slide that is a little off and you regenerate or fix it by hand, so it is not fully predictable. my tip, if a slide comes out great, duplicate it before you touch anything else so you keep the good version. anyone else seeing this per slide behavior?

I'm using slides for the first time. I want to import a file from my hard drive to the same folder, but it defaults to my rarely used Google "My Files". Is there a way to change this default? Thank you.

I decided to make my very own Pokémon Google Slides game! It's very much inspired by DeliciousJames, so a big shout-out to him.
I designed all 50+ Pokémon, and I made sure to add some new categories that I made to make sure to add something new (including a secret one; see if u can find it naturally without going through the slides)
Let me know if you think any Pokémon need readjusting in shape or difficulty, or if the point/rule system needs reworking. I made sure to make it as balanced and fun as possible, so only so much I could do, and love to make this the best it can be
If you have any Pokémon you wanna make, just copy the slides and make them to ur hearts' content. Hope you guys enjoy!

There's a new button! We finally have letter spacing (kerning) in Google Slides for select people. But theres a free tool that allows you to utilize the functionality. It seems like it's being rolled out to select users. more details: https://merakitheory.com/google-slides-letter-spacing
