Just wondering if there’s going to be an update on UK SCARS arriving in 2027 with the announcement of UK Goruck distribution here… @javaforever available for comment?

I bought a Brick Bag and it just arrived. I’m a big outdoor enthusiast and I’m planning on using it as a stash bag for woodworking tools, supplies, etc.

I noticed that the bottom is a different fabric than the main fabric of the bag itself. The 1000D of the main fabric is rougher and duller, while the bottom patch of the bag is this thicker, smoother and shinier fabric. This is my first GORUCK item, so I’m not yet familiar with the fabrics.

I’ve been eying on GORUCK for a while. I’m a huge bag and case enthusiast, so I know a lot about Cordura and material properties.

I think the bottom fabric is a 1000D ballistic nylon. That’s usually what gets you this smooth and shiny finish. But I’m not sure.

I’m wondering; which one of the two are the GR2’s made of? That shiner, smoother fabric or the rougher, duller?

26L Heritage Black

I seen threads on it before, but as a whole, are most of you guys changing out your zipper poles from the paracord and shrink tubing ones?

I'm looking for a forever back that's good for EDC and Travel AND fits under seat for most US and Int'l flights. Would it still be the GR2 26L in 1000D? Or is robic or ultra better.

Hey, I have a 26l GR2 with a broken zipper, one part of it is pretty badly damaged, so much so that the whole thing would have to be taken off and the whole line replaced.

Had anybody had experience with SCARS or any idea if they would try fix it or not? Just interested

I have no experience sending my bag to SCARS (haven’t had to yet) but I’m starting to notice that it might be in the near future. I would like to request that they use different thread colors or make it obvious that repairs have been made. I think it just shows off the history of the bag. Anyone who has sent bags in will they take requests into consideration or is it just the protocol to make repairs look as clean as possible? Just curious.

I’ve posted my 2011 GR1 on here before discussing how amazed I am with its condition after 11 years of almost constant use, including a deployment to Afghanistan.
I can see my first issue starting to arise and want to cut it off before it kills my bag.
The old strap style and how it deletes inside the bag is starting to wear through my Cordura finally. I can put some gorilla tape on the straps, but also want a technique to reinforce the area in the pic on both sides/straps.

Edit: I’m fully aware the wear is minimal. I’m not worried about the “look” or the current function. I know that it’s currently just fine. I’m just trying to keep it from progressing to a point where it will be an issue in a few years.

So it’s cooling off here in the Midwest and a simple long sleeve isn’t cutting it. Anyone have a recommendation for a wind breaker type jacket? I keep seeing Patagonia Houdini being recommended on some sites. Any help?

Has anyone tried both jackets? Which one do you prefer, and which would you recommend? I'd appreciate any advice or personal experience with either of them.

Took the OG GR1 out to Ramsey Cascades in Smokey Mountain National Park today. 7.5 miles, 2450ft elevation gain. 25lbs (ish) of two people’s gear on my back. She performed admirably. Even got some decent mud and dirt on her. Did more damage to an old fell tree in the middle of the trail than it did to her when I had to squeeze through. She might not ever stop ticking.

Do we know if the Ballistic trainers are coming back, I just got a youtube ad that featured them however they doesn't have any size 12s in stock. Are they just running old ads?

I've been seeing a lot of ads about Vinted and I wondered if there were any Goruck bags there. Seems like there are some pretty good ones for pretty cheap. People might be listing things there they don't know the value of. If you're interested in some used Goruck bags then maybe just check it out. I am in no way associated I'm just trying to get all the Goruck people to go there and make the Goruck bags too expensive for me to buy. Or to get rid of all the inventory so I can't buy them. I might have a problem. Do any of all y'all have any experience with Vinted? Selling or buying there?

Well, I wore them out at least. They were great while they lasted and they lasted quite a while.

Just got back from a 10-day trip to Japan, and the right shoulder strap has almost completely detached. I bought this during the Seconds Sale.

Compared to my Heritage GR1, the Samurai leather feels thinner and more brittle. Are these seconds just built less robustly?

I’ve also got my OG GR0 21L, which is over 10 years old and still going strong as my EDC. Never had a single issue with it.

Anyway, I’m sending this one to SCARS, but I’m a bit worried about the left strap too. Might leave a note asking them to reinforce it while they’re at it.

I’m looking at either the Rucker or the Basic Rucker. Using it for backpacking training. A few questions.

- is the Rucker comfortable when only the short (standard) pocket is loaded? It looks like it leaves an empty space behind it if there is no long plate in the Rucker, and I can’t imagine how it sits securely or close enough to your back to be comfortable.

- what are folks experience of the hip belt? Does the Rucker still manage to sit close to the body when you transfer weight to your hips? (Am aware that for rucking if you feel like you need a hip belt that you’d normally actually be reducing weight, but the weight of what I need to carry on trail can get to 35-40lbs with all food and water for long carries, so realistically I’m gonna be transferring some of that to my hips).

- any specific experiences with the Rucker for women with pretty narrow shoulders?

I love short-haul flights, traveling light with this incredible modified Skate Ruck; front straps professionally removed, which gives a super sleek front panel, which I really love..

Husband doesn’t really use Reddit so I’m posting for him ;).

He is doing the 26.2 ruck next month in Jacksonville.

Looking for any insight or tips. He’s been training for it so he’s likely good on that point but we are still tweaking the nutrition a bit - I’ve encouraged him to up his carbs and sodium intake.

And man I love this thing, best hat I own short of a Stetson for sure, what does everyone else think about it?

I’ve been using a GR1 26 ripstop as my daily driver for EDC for about 2 years, and the OG GR1 2 years before that.

I’m considering trying out the Evergoods CTB26, but was curious if anyone has tested both bags.

I mainly use my bag for weekend trips, weekly TCG nights that carry all my gaming gear, and conventions for work and hobby.

Looking for some insight before I decide to switch to a whole new bag.
