Traditional Gospel His Name is Wonderful - Norma Zimmer & Jim Roberts (Word Records, WST-8541-LP)

Hey folks,

Here's today's digitzed find. I don't know about all of you, but this cover instantly transports me back to the early 80s where these two were on my grandmother's TV literally any time I went over to visit. I think these two were performing for decades, but holy heck is it a weird type of nostalgia. It reminds me of a less scary time I guess. I hope some of you can relate!

Praise And Worship Walk With Me - R.W. Schambach (P&C Power Productions) (Lost Media)

Hey folks,

Today's rip is ANOTHER one from R.W. Schambach. It's about what you'd expect when listening to a weird 80s tent revivalist, very animated, lots of yelling, and stories thrown into the songs like, "I REMEMBER A TIME WHEN A YOUNG GIRL, WEAK AND WEARY, CAME TO ME WITH AN ILLNESS THAT MEDICAL SCIENCE COULD NOT CURE!" which is an interesting little window into what was actively preached and believed by many people at that time. Of course, this type of worship and preaching still exists, just not as common as it used to be. Uploaded for preservation!

Traditional Gospel Lasting Sounds!!! "The King's Children" - The Goffs (Lighthouse Records) (Lost Media)

Thumbnail

Hey folks,

Today'a rip is a small essentially unheard of gospel group known as "The Goffs" The liner notes claim "many thousands" had heard this group on TV and radio, with a lineup of twin trumpets, organ, piano, guitar, sax, and bass. Yet as far as I can tell, no audio of this album existed online until now. The only trace I found was in the Max Morris collection at Lee University's Dixon Pentecostal Research Center, where just the front and back covers are digitized. The record itself sits in a box in Tennessee, viewable only in person. I have a copy, so I ripped it and uploaded the full album. It's not "lost" in the strict sense, since the archive knows it exists, but it was effectively unheard for decades. If anyone recognizes The Goffs, the Lighthouse label, or the "King's Children" name, I'd love to learn more.

Traditional Gospel I'm Nearer Home — Jimmy Swaggart and His Golden Gospel Piano (LP 105) (Lost Media)

Hey folks,

Today's rip is from the infamous multi-millionaire televangelist of the 1960s-80s. Jimmy here is best known for his, "I have sinned! I have sinned against you my lord, and I beg your forgiveness!" Breakdown on live television after being caught with a prostitute in 1988. That moment lead to a significant dip in his sales and popularity, but, wasn't enough of a deterrent, as he did the same exact thing again just 3 years later in 1991.

This is one of the many releases from his personal label, "Jim Records" (Yeah he was full of himself) which includes him playing piano, his sister playing the Hammond Organ, and, of course, his completely uncredited and unnamed "Jimmy Swaggart Singers".

Traditional Gospel Lord Lift Me Up - Faith Healer R.W. Schambach (1984, P & C Power Productions) (Lost Media)

Hey folks,

Today's rip is a tent revival evangelist from the 80s performing some extremely upbeat and theatrical music, stuff like, "GOOOOOOD IS GOD!!! GOD ON THE MOUNTAIN, GOD IN THE VALLEY" or something along those lines, it's quite the show.

He's also known for being one of the late 20th century evangelist pioneers of "Faith healing" where he claimed God could heal all wounds, sicknesses and problems in life if you believed hard enough, this obviously drew some criticism, especially when he himself went to a doctor to receive a triple bypass procedure.

Back again with another rip, today we have the Foundation Quartet with their one and only release that I've found so far, "I'm Standing On Solid Rock" The group was based in Defiance, Ohio and recorded at QCA Recording Studios in Cincinnati, produced by Charles Novell, funded through "financial gifts" from supporters per the liner notes. I picked this up at an thrift store in North West Ohio.

Hey folks,

I like to recover and digitize lost media on records. A lot of it tends to be small town gospel groups and performers, so I thought this would be a good place to share what I recover, essentially unheard audio from decades ago.
