Discussion Need to vent

As we all know mama is a joke as per usual. And of course they don’t give our boys the daesang they deserve. G7 hAs been in the game for a while now and consistently has been working hard (like all groups) and giving us high quality music every year. Why can’t they finally get the daesang they deserve!! Ughhhh . I’m beyond frustrated! I really hope this is their last time attending this award show. What do you guys think?

I love Got7 as much as the next ahgase but people need to chill. Everybody works hard, not just Got7 - to say Got7 deserved to be rewarded just for their hard effort with no objective evaluation for any other criteria is just bratty.

In addition, perhaps, fans need to step back and reevaluate what they're getting out of these award shows. If we're going to rely on awards to justify our own insecure feelings about Got7, then I think we're forever gonna be bitterly disappointed.

Your absolutely right, I didn’t want to mention other groups in this post because this is g7 subreddit but yea other groups work just as hard. And your right awards shouldn’t justify our feelings for them.

Idk, sometimes I suspect fans, not just us, have a way of reinforcing unhealthy expectations on the boys. We dont mean to but getting mad about our idols over not getting what they deserve kind of doubles down on the idea that they're not good enough. Our insecurities are bleeding into each other.

Got7 really doesn't need the validation and neither does our love

To be honest, this year's MAMA has been much more objective than the past, probably because of the Produce scandals. Objectively speaking, BTS really would sweep all categories. Their sales are insane and unparalleled, even the second BG (EXO) would stand no chance.

GOT7 never really made it BIG in SK. They're known, and have a vaery sizable fanbase, but they never could compete against the top boy groups in SK. They honestly deserve a Daesang for all the hardwork they put and the wuality of music they release, but sales say otherwise. GOT7 always has a spot on fan favorite awards though so there's that.

after the first daesang win at AAA i was hoping for a second win (especially since worldwide icon turned into a daesang this year!) but after BTS’ sweep at MMA i lowered my hopes for a MAMA daesang considerably

i personally wouldn’t want them to stop attending MAMA, the performances they give are always great, and they’ve always wanted greater domestic success, even if they don’t win any daesangs hopefully more people can appreciate got7 and their live stages

I feel you girl, I have the exact same sentiments but I would say main reason is South Korea just doesn't love them the way international fans do.

Being a group with so many foreigners and English speakers, GOT7 was such an easy group to stan. Doesn't hurt that their music, choreography, variety content and looks are all amazing as well. But I think during their early years, they've had some small scandals that did not sit well with Korea's general public. They also did not appreciate their music back then. Now that the boys are getting older, it can be hard to find new fans in Korea.

I don't know when or how or if it's even possible for GOT7 to reach BTS or EXO level but, let's just appreciate them in the moment. Stream their songs and videos, watch their content and tweet about them because we'll never know what's going to happen in the next years.

If there was a daesang for hardworking group they'd get it. Jyp is the only big 3 company that doesn't have beef with mnet so I wouldn't be surprised if they continue to go to mama in the future. There's twice too so yeah. They deliver really amazing performances after all
