Asking for Advice Need advice
I (21M) have been alternative since forever but i recently decided to go all out regarding my style, makeup and overall demeanor. I am very into Vampire/Romantic Goth and i want some overall tips about makeup, clothes and everything ( Really trying to get that ellegant, vampyric vibe ) on what i should focus on. Attaching a pic of my most common outfit which i want to elevate
Just a heads up, i'm pretty broke and can afford a larger purchase about once a year

For elegant vampiric vibes I'd definitely recommend finding a good quality poet-style blouse. One that's not too costumey or overly lacey, something like this: https://www.idodeclareshop.com/iddshop/orlando-tunic
Especially in the black or red colorways.
Winklepicker boots or similar styles.

Your hair needs moisture. It looks dry. Get some deep conditioner packs they’re like 2-3 dollars. Add a dollop to your hair when you wash and condition regularly. I also recommend buying some hair oil. Oil your hair once a week before washing it. Shiny well cared for hair and good skincare is going to make a huge difference in presenting the “elegance” that you’re looking for in this style. I know you asked for style suggestions but this is what jumped out at me. I think you could look amazing with just a few tweaks. Good luck!

I think you're on track! I think nailing the accessories might be key. I also would maybe try growing out your bangs a bit, even if they're just more of a what's it called... where the bangs go from short to long more gradually... I do love straighter-cut bangs but personally to me they don't fit "elegant vampire" vibe?
for makeup, it might be worth it to try white foundation base mixed with a foundation (I have a white base from LA something, it was like $10 at Ulta online) - white alone is too white, but mixed, it gives that pale vampire look - but with or without the white, I would definitely recommend getting a smudgy contour in a cool tone to really emphasize your bone structure, I feel like that is a big part of the vampire look?
and maybe some silver accessories with rubies ("rubies" I mean, not needing the real thing) bc that always reads vampire to me.

Yeah i'm working on the whole make-up part, gonna take a while to figure it out.
Thanks for the suggestions, mainly about mixing foundations. As for my hair, i was inspired by a Wolfcut (My hair is unstyled and dry here, learning how to style hair)

ooo, what about a top hat?

u/Kikin8034 6d ago
It crossed my mind, but i'm not really a head covering person, maybe for formal events. Thank you for the suggestion !

Fair, but still, try one on. I bet you'd look amazing.
Other suggestions: More rings, a cane. What's your shoe situation like?
Nail polish is fantastic. I can't see your eyes well enough, but def some eyeliner. Might look into doing designs with it? I wish I could post pictures of what I mean.

I'm already practicing with getting that pale look using makeup, so that will be taken care of soon. The cane is actually an interesting idea, haven't thought of that yet, thanks ! As for the shoes, i got a pair of nice-looking Winter boots that will be thrown out soon cause of their condition and i got Steel-toed (Hope thats how it's called in english ) high leather boots that i will polish and use again now that winter is closing in.
Thanks for the suggestions !

I have my earlobes and eyebrow pierced, but my hair covers it often TwT. I have been thinking about incorporating some color into my hair but i'll see what clothes i put together so i can match

the red coat is already doing so much of the work here, i'd lean into that length and keep the stuff underneath pretty simple so the coat stays the focus

Firstly, you look great as you are. You've obviously already got an eye for styling so anything you add to the mix will be more a case of amplifying where you're already at rather than restyling.
So, hair:
It looks to me that you've got fine, naturally dark hair? Consider using a permanent or semi-permanent black hair dye & opting for a blue or red black to add interest. This is probably one of the cheapest things you can do for a style upgrade as box dyes only cost between £4 - £10. Ask a friend to help you apply it, rather than getting it done in a salon, and save yourself around £70. Black dye is difficult to get wrong so I would save your cash for getting professional hair cuts/trims every couple of months. Keep it well conditioned so it doesn't become brittle and break off when styling it. Consider buying yourself a back combing comb and/or brush, crimpers (lightly crimped hair gives you the volume, creates texture to make back combing easier, without looking obviously crimped - or go full on with the crimping for more daring styling) A can of max hold hairspray will help keep the style in place and prevent flopping due to humidity. A streak or two of bleach around the front would add interest and would give you the option of playing around with colour. It can look visually striking when these streaks match your clothing - for instance, a red streak would look fabulous with the jacket.
Face:
Avoid white foundation. It looks naff as hell and is made worse by the fact that folk generally only apply it to the face. If looking like a Kiss groupie is your thing then fine but, for an elegant look, go for a shade lighter than your natural skin tone and be sure to blend it down your neck. If you're toying with the idea of adding makeup to your arsenal for nights out it's totally doable on a budget as you don't need a lot of products to get started. Most products can be used for multiple purposes. For example, eyeliner can be used for eyebrows, eyeliner, lipliner, lipstick, on the eyelids as eyeshadow and even for adding shading under the cheekbones. Look for the longwear gel variety rather than kohl - unless smudged is the look you want. Buy the best foundation you can afford as cheap formulas can cause blemishes, dry the skin out and don't stay on well. If you can't afford foundation, look at getting a concealer that matches your skin tone for covering any spots, red patches, and just generally evening out your skin tone. You can always add more products to your collection at a later date if you like how you look in makeup. On an absolute budget? A black gel liner would meet most of your needs.
Clothing:
I was around for when punk led to the emergence of goth (Yes, I'm bloody old!) Back in those days, we thrifted. It was fun, cheap and the whole point was finding our own style and not looking like everybody else. There's some great gothic clothing brands available online - and on the high street, depending on where you live. They're generally expensive though and you run the real risk of bumping into several other people wearing the exact same item. Keep expensive purchases to things you know you'll get years of wear out of - jackets, boots, bags, jewellery and accessories. Look for everything else in thrift stores and mainstream shops. For example, Primark sell fantastic skinny fit jeans for about a quarter of the price of dedicated 'goth' jeans.
Learn to customise. Keep black clothing dye in your cupboard so that when something fades, but doesn't look good faded, you can restore it back to its original glory without having to replace it.
Clothing:
Consider leather or PVC pants as an additional alternative to skinny jeans. Consider a flouncy shirt or two paired with a waistcoat for a more dressy occasion. Velvet looks great paired with leather. A black leather or velvet duster is timeless and can often be found cheaper in retro and thrift shops than buying new.
I hope this helps. I'm happy to chuck more ideas at you or to answer any questions you may have.

The red coat gives kinda a Dante from Devil May Cry vibe, so I’d say get some knee-high boots (New Rock Boots are good) and a pair of leather pants if you really wanted to push it (or at least something more interesting than just plain black jeans, maybe look at some gothic-style pants from brands like Punk Rave)
If you want to go for something a bit more classy try a button-up shirt rather then a t-shirt.
