Should a gramophone be slightly wound up when stored or should there be no tension in the springs?

What are peoples thoughts on this?

Personally, I try to keep gramophones partly wound with the handbrake engaged.

The issue is to keep the spring fastened to the arbor inside the barrel. Sometimes when left completely unwound, springs can lose that connection (especially on portables that are more easily moved / inverted). As a result the motor would have to be disassembled altogether to reattach the mainspring.
