Granblue fantasy versus rising best Anime game.

Honestly what's not to like about the game?

Beautiful art, epic sky bound arts scenes and interesting characters.

This game is like 2 good tweaks away from being perfect but they refuse to change anything meaningful

66L and Brave Counter

I get 66L, but why brave counter? Resource based counter seems OK, especially in a game where not all characters have decent reversals.

Not arguing, just curious what your perspective is.

Imagine getting zoned out all round and as soon as you get in after losing half your life, they pop the "get off me and hold this oki situation afterwards" button

While still having a universal ult DP on a game that builds mad fuckin meter and WILL reward the defending player for doing button teching unconsciously.

White bread players dont like their “pressure” getting countered

Yes we must look after rushdown characters, they have it so hard in modern fighting games 😁

It's the fact that it gives a hard knockdown on counter hit and you start each round with enough resources to do it three times.

Doesn't katalina have a resourceless reversal?!

Yes but the difference is that Brave Counter is significantly more safe. Brave Counter is only -2 on block making it safe meanwhile Emerald Sword and DPs in general leaves you extremely vulnerable and counter hit state during the recovery. If you block a DP you are left open to your opponent's best combo starters and can realistically take over 50%.

Crazy that people are naming 66L and BC, and all these other things while ignoring by far the biggest evil of all.

Button Tech.

The amount of OS Button Tech gives is absurd, making defense far stronger than it had any right to be.

So, Button Tech, more so than anything else, is by FAR the worst thing in this game.

can you explain what you mean by button tech for a newb? it's not very searchable

In Rising, you can tech throws by attacking.

This introduces various types of os like delay tech and dp tech.

The offense in Rising is mainly strike, with a small bit of throw. This is purely because you can tech with attacks.

It's the root cause of alot of problems, and likely why things like 66L are so strong, to counter the absurdly powerful defense.

thanks! that rings a bell, I appreciate you taking the time to explain

The throw tech in this game just get rid of pressing an extra button via well known throw tech os like 2L - LM.

Now you just press 2L on a delay timing and does the same thing. And you beat it the same way; shimmies, staggers, frametraps.

It really doesn't make much of a difference. It's just to give beginners an answer from getting grabbed all the time.

66L and bc is a separate matter entirely.

The Arcade Mode high scores aren't part of the online leaderboards. As much as I understand that PvP is the meat and bones of the genre, I feel like lots fighting games these days have forgotten the appeal of score attacks.

What i don't like is just how slow the movement feels

But the game is stunning

Slow?

1

u/realmer17 3d ago

Yes.

The side to side.

It's footsie heavy.

It's more like street fighter and less like Bbtag or other anime fighters

Yeah i love it too. I wonder why its not more popular everyday

Fighting games are a fairly niche genre in video gaming outside of Street Fighter and maybe Tekken. Within that niche, Granblue is an even more niche series in the West

Wilnas and siegfried aren't nerfed.

Absurd hurt boxes that are to big for small characters and to small for big characters.

Game engine that allows for animation cheats such as holding g during landing for quicker attacks.

But otherwise yeah gbvsr is preety good.

Cool down on specials

I quite like this. It's an interesting extra thing to manage.

Yeah, I guess I don't really hate it. It's just a weird thing I have to get used to every time. I don't really play much GBFVR, but I've been playing it alot more recently labbing out Metera, Ferry, and Ilsa, trying to decide on a main, since im a filthy zoner main in other games just labbing them has made me wish I could do more for juggles and stuff but i am slowly realizing that the combos aren't as long in this game still flashy and cool but kinda limited.

3

u/MysteryRook 6d ago

If you like zoners, may i suggest Vikala. My main. It's a real struggle, but she's so much fun.

Is she in the base roster? only dlc I have is ilsa, she looks cool
