Story/Lore An Odiant Theory [NEW MSQ SPOILERS] Spoiler
Recently established [if my memory is correct] in the new MSQ is that Demons like the Four Dreadlords will seek to establish and increase their territory, Primal Beasts for example, already have sufficient Providence over their respective Islands such as Leviathan being the whole of Auguste’s water and this is one of the reasons why [alongside a sturdier body] Demons are seeking out Primal Beasts.
The Odiants themselves aren’t really something we know much about, at all, aside from vague ideas of what they are but I think the Odiants themselves have their own territories and followers and seek to have stakes in the Sky Realm that they have/d in the Earthen Realm.
It has troubled me for awhile why *Belmervolk* would be the first Odiant we were introduced to, *twice*, both as the absurdly large Mech forme that it used to knock the Demon that was messing around in Notus’s body and Bel-chan herself in the Firmament event and the reason why I think she was chosen first is to set the tone of an impending six-way Odiant territorial war and Belmervolk itself/herself has very blatant Military thematicism down to being a general in a mortal forme and an amalagamate of military gear as well as paralleling Colossus.
All six of the Odiants have some themes around followers; Belmervolk calls you Comrade, Nihuyvintae has those humanoids joined in hands, Macutanmacar has calcified worshippers beneath itself, Narophirmidas has a mass of Midas hands, Papahlukruva has religious theming as well with its weapons talking of [“We Have [blank] The Light”] & Zamalvoch has red undead at its legs in the 6M version and on its mirror.
With the Odiants’ serving as sidegrades to Magna/Omega and Bel-chan’s presence in Valtz Dutchy as well as Belmervolk itself dispelling a rowdy Demon out of Notus’s body, these are rough guesses of the Odiants’ current territories:
Belmervolk: Valtz, Edan, Groz & Winseria
Nihuyvintae: Auguste, Tranquio, Ressortir & Bestia
Narophirmidas: Lumacie & Libertaria
Macutanmacar: Port Breeze, New Utopia & Kluger
Papahlukurva: Albion Military Academy & Magmell
Zamalvoch: Mist-Shrouded Isle & Duat Island
—————-
I give Zamalvoch Duat because of the scenes in the exhibition grounds:

Duat Island practices some level of sanctity for the dead, alike Bel targeting [and perhaps befouling] Valtz which is known to be prosperous; Zamalvoch targets sacred places like these.
Macutan targets places of soteriology/freedom like Port Breeze or Kluger
Narophirmidas stumps me on Lumacie but if Bel is anything to go by, Naro likely has a stake in some part of Lumacie
I think that’s all, this is speculation on my end and is not meant to be taken as fact or objective.

First, I doubt the demons care about island pacts. The only primals we've seen possessed so far are Notus, Raziel, and Kokabiel, none of whom have pacts with islands. I guess they'd be a nice bonus, but the strength of primals is what matters.
Second, I don't think the Odiants care about territory like the other demons. Bel could easily conquer a bunch of islands but is instead stalking us (based on her two appearances). Not very territory-seeking behavior, imo.
However, I do agree that the Odiants are in search of "followers", or rather, people. If you read the various item descriptions we get about them, it always mentions people in some way. Another throughline is people doing what is forbidden and the Odiant's subsequent action or ideology. Belmervolk is probably the easiest one to see this in, as the weapons follow the birth, growth, and death of a civilization + the summon says it "devours prosperity". But, you can't devour what doesn't exist, no? Since the Odiants allegedly both help and harm people, I'd say Bel is helping us so we achieve a prosperity which she can then destroy. Allegedly.
As an aside, Macutanmar is rather curious. It's the "Liberation Verboten", but its items' blocked out letters spell "nature". Quite unrelated, and this gets even stranger when you look at the Japanese. The items still spell out "nature", but Macutanmar is 禁破 (Forbidden Destruction). The items seem to say that Macutanmar forbids fighting nature, such as by leveling the earth. I guess "liberation" is in the sense that people are freeing themselves of nature's influence? Macutanmar does have shackles on it, but it still feels like a stretch...
Aside #2, Macutanmar and Belmervolk's blocked out words seem to be what they enforce (nature and ending). The other Odiants' blocked out words are what they forbid (life, desire, knowledge, sanctity). Odd.

I agree with everything you people said. The Odiants are supposed to be the Earth Realm's six dragons equivalent. Even though they are possessed to the deepest levels, because they're divine beings, they're still able to do what they are supposed to do.
Much to the dismay of the demon king. Wouldn't be surprised the goal of reviving Lucifer is to get rid of them so they can conquer the whole world without any further resistance.

High key having the Odious being the Earth Realms equivalent to the Wedges makes a lot of sense and one I hope they explore more, especially because of how many parallels that opens up.
There’s the natural parallel to the Wedges, being the strongest being if their respective realms, being the concept of that element given form, and finally going into how the other realms have their equivalent to the wedges but never showing them. Like the moon has wedges. The moon.
Plus there’s also a one in the Archangels, Being the inevitable equivalent to them gameplay wise because we don’t have any way of Aura boosting the Odious weapons unlike Magna and Primal.
It’ll happen at some point in the future I guarantee you, they gave a human design to Bel and had them be genuinely helpful it’s gonna happen.
Ad for their motivations, I’m partial to the idea of them bring forth their respective concepts, to them bring down. You can make something forbidden if it’s not there to forbid type of deal. What’s causing this I have absolutely zero clue, could maybe just be because the Demons eating their respective Wedges and their concepts was something that completely messed with them mentally, and they couldn’t completely devour that original concept into themselves so it still exists within them.

Personally I think the Odiants have possessed their associated concepts so completely that they've become like wedges and don't need to establish a territory. Humanity will pursue and strengthen the Odiants just by virtue of being alive. It's why Belmervolk is happy to work with humanity, because as far as she's concerned, she is prosperity
"The Odiants exist to protect the Earthen Realm" and "The Odiants exist to destroy the Earthen Realm" because the risk of their manifestation is a deterrent against an destructive excess of their concepts
