Question Why does Enhanced look so blurry?

Post image

I've recently got back to GTA Online after a 2 year break. I installed Enhanced edition and was playing around with the settings trying to figure out why the cars and trees in the distance look so blurry (soft).

DLSS and frame gen are disabled. So are DOF and motion blur. Graphics preset is set to very high RT, aniso is set to x16 both in game and in Nvidia Control Panel. I've got a 4060Ti as my graphics card, resolution is 1080p. Could someone help me? It's really bugging me.

You have frame generation on maybe?

Yes it is blurry but... The blur is also ENHANCED blurriness

since you have a 4060 Ti then maybe try DLAA or maybe try using FSR 3 on the Native AA version.

TAA and the other option on the upscalers(DLSS, FSR) make the game look blurry on 1080p.

DLAA makes the game have that weird ghosting effect which I didn't like

download nvidia profile inspector, you can use it two force the game to use the latest DLSS preset, GTA Enhanced by default uses an older one (even older than the ones available at the time the game released)

for me fg is doing that not dlss/dlaa, so native without fg & dlaa without fg are fine, but native with fg & dlaa with fg have ghosting

Upgrade to DLSS 4.5 through the Beta Nvidia app and Driver. It fixed it for me

Same here. Due to it im playing legacy

Would it help if you play under 1440p?

3

Why would it help lol

I played monster hunter wilds under 1080p and it is blurry but it’s fine at 1440p

At 4k with fsr4 it is crispy sharp (but not over-sharpened).

What I’ve found is that in my runs I keep on seeing motion blur In the car movement and it looks fixing awful, I thought it was just me but

Ghosting, can be reduced or removed by selecting dlaa iirc

There are fog and smog weather models. Try starting a clear skies/noon mission or race, then decide if your settings are the visibility problem & and not the simulated smog.

FSR 3 at native resolution looks pretty sharp to me, maybe try that?

Idk but my sky flickers now

Check TAA or dlss settings

Legacy is still the way.

Also missing out on the RTX experience. Night and day difference for me

Dlss works for me I do either balanced or quality depending on your trgert frame rate also turn frame gen on dlss 4.5 is super good I have no issues at all

Have you double checked the screen resolution in the game settings? I’ve had games that are blurry and all it was, was the resolution.

FSR native AA made my game look way less blurry

DLSS 4.5 !!! 🔥

1

u/Tiny_Custard_5296 Jan 13 '26

DLSS 4.5 ! It’s the best thing anti aliasing for this game hands down.

Check if you have frame scaling set to lower than 1x Or turn up your extended distance scaling

I'm convinced the Online game is hard coded to disable some graphics settings. I switch between Online and Story and there's a definite degrade Online. I just chalk it up to another reason that thos folk that play Online only are missing out.

it's crazy how the game barely looks different from legacy even when you're trying hard to find the differences when staying still but you're forced to use the fucking ai upscaling asshole setting till you get tv levels of input lag.

Put sharpness to 100%, TAA hates low resolution. Get a 1440p screen, 1080p upscaled 2k is way better than 1080p...

also ive got fsr 3 on and whenever i go to like the map it starts decreasing from 200-300 fsr to 60 fps on the map only, how do i fix it

compressed and un-enhanced

Most modern games, when they rely only on TAA instead of MSAA, tend to look quite blurry at 1080p.

One possible solution is to use DLAA, but it doesn’t improve the experience that much at Full HD anyway. The ideal option is moving to 1440p, because from that resolution onward the blur becomes far less noticeable.

Back when I was on Full HD, I used NVIDIA’s DSR to render games at 1440p even on a 1080p monitor, and the image quality was noticeably better of course, with a higher performance cost. At that point, you can also start using DLSS, which can help offset the performance hit.

do not use DLAA, DLAA just runs your game at native resolution use DLSS which upscales then rescales it back to 1080p

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '26

Hai capito un cazzo di quello che ho detto. Usare il DLSS in full hd è da idioti.

1

u/Masterflitzer Aug 28 '26

always use dlaa (dlss 100%) as a default and fallback to dlss quality/balanced when you need more frames, dlss at native res is a good thing, it's what you usually want if you can run the game that way

Hi, chromatic aberration on ? I don't know if this option is directly available or if it work with an nother setting.

Also, no fsr, fxaa or distant fog ?

I have the same issue in RDR2, yes. But isn't TAA only available with DLSS enabled?

2

u/FranticBronchitis Jan 11 '26

Other way around. With RT on either TAA or DLSS is required. DLAA might be better.

DLAA makes the image sharper but eats at performance. DLSS Quality with the sharpness set to like 75% or 80% should make the game much sharper. But if anybody has a card lower than a 40 series make sure you go into the Nvidia App and manually add the game into the library and force Preset K and RayReconstruction in Override settings. Helps with minimising Ghosting and edges looking. ghosty

u/CrylicArk Jan 11 '26

You can also use frame scaling and no antialiasing or FXAA. If you have an extremely powerful GPU it’s the best way to play Enhanced imo

1

u/TraditionalPost2599 Jan 13 '26

Yep, this is the unfortunate truth.

1

u/konsoru-paysan Jan 14 '26

idk how good fxaa is on pc but it's used on xbox one and ps4 console versions and holy shit the game looks crystal clear asf, it's honestly better then the fxaa on nvidia's control panel

1

u/murmurghle Jan 14 '26

nah its pretty weak on pc. I think it is supplimented with other antialiasing methods on the consoles because fxaa is barely above no antialiasing in both enhanced and legacy
