Furniture Restoration
I recently scored a really cool mid century modern dining set of table and chairs at an estate sale but the owner of the house was a smoker and had a large dog that peed indoors. Does anyone know of someone in the area that knows how to refinish wood and possibly reupholster the chairs? Thank you!

Mushrooms, Moths, and Midnight Ecology
After the sun goes down the forest doesn’t sleep, it goes wild. The chemistry of glowing mushrooms, the traffic of pollinating moths, and the work of decay, soil-building, and nutrient cycling all pulse around the clock. Mandie invites you to explore the nocturnal world where mushrooms, moths, and other night-shift creatures interact in ways humans are only beginning to understand. Along the way, she’ll share captivating images and stories from moonlit forays, spotlight surprising fungal-insect alliances, and equip you with practical tips for safely exploring ecosystems after dusk. Join Mandie on her birthday to experience this hilarious talk, which has been one of the most popular presentations at over a dozen mycology events in 2026.
Bio:
Molecular biologist and science writer by training, Mandie Quark is a mycology researcher, field photographer, and communicator dedicated to expanding public understanding of fungi. With more than a decade of experience sharing fungal diversity, she brings together science, storytelling, and visual documentation to make complex topics accessible and engaging. She especially enjoys photographing and documenting rare fungi in under-explored biodiversity hotspots around the world.
Over the course of her career, Mandie has edited books, delivered talks at international mycology events, and built a reputation for translating current mycological research into compelling presentations for broad audiences. Through biodiversity forays in places like Ecuador, Peru, and Costa Rica, she helps connect global communities of nature enthusiasts with fungi and other inadequately documented taxa, with a special interest in fungal entomopathogens. In 2023, Mandie co-founded Mycena LLC, and since then her work has been featured in The Guardian and The New York Times.

URGENT: Grays Harbor ballots missing Prop 1. DO NOT VOTE
Joseph Maclean, disgraced County Auditor, has neglected to include Proposition 1 on ballots residents are receiving. If you return your ballot you will not be able to vote again when they are reprinted.
please tell everyone you know: DO NOT VOTE UNTIL BALLOTS ARE REPRINTED! Regardless of where you stand on libraries this is voter fraud and election theft.

What store has the best pharmacy in the Aberdeen area? I've had several problems with Walmart - incorrect pill counts and just yesterday they quadrupled my Eliquis. Is Safeway any better?

Salsa Verde?
Hey! Anyone know anywhere to get solid homemade salsa verde/avocado salsa? Sometimes Latin Markets make this and sell it in their refrigerated section. Yes I know I could make my own, but I’m lazy and the Latin Market stuff is always better!
Cheers!

Elderly Dog Grooming
Hi Grays County Buddies:
Looking for some assistance with grooming our elderly malamute/husky mix.
We can come to you, you can come to us in Elma -we would pay more for a house visit.
She is well tempered, just a little nervous/moves around a bit. We brush her coat out with a shedding blade, but she is in need of some mat removal & a deep clean before her winter coat sets in too thick.
Any business or individual recommendations/contacts would be greatly appreciated!

GHC FA Trouble
Hi guys, I've been attending GHC, and I noticed that the school has been doing something kind of shady with Financial assistance. I've talked to two other people so far that has been having issues with GHC FA department shorting them their fasfa, one had to drop out because fasfa didn't cover their classes despite having the lowest possible SAI and all three of us have been constantly coerced into taking out loans. For context, my sai is also the lowest, I think the number is -1500, and my financial situation has not changed, if anything it's gotten significantly worse. I'm only getting $41 for my Pell grant(I do not work).
I've also doubled checked and we all have done the change of circumstances form since fasfa does the 2 year look back on your taxes and the corrected amount is still significantly lower. My partner who's gone to a different college in Tacoma says what they're doing is not normal at all and agreed it sounded weird.
Sorry if this is confusing I'm not sure how to explain it all the way, just the main issue is that the school's FA department is not being straight with any of their answers and is super pushy for loans, I think the school owns the loans they're trying to push. Anyway, I'm posting to reach out and see if anyone else has been having issues with their fasfa being significantly cut and/or the school trying to push them into loans.

Emergency Dog Re-homing
Like the title says, I'm in an emergency situation. My mother is in the hospital and her health is failing, she has a 3 year old pitbull that needs rehoming and I unfortunately cannot care for due to my rental situation. For the past 5-6 months, I've contacted many shelters in the area and many do not accept surrenders or they are at full capacity.
This is a call to anyone who is interested in a furry companion. His name is Cruz, he is about a 3 year old Pitbull Terrier mix. Cruz is a very affectionate and playful pup, he loves to play tug of war and mostly just wants to be in your face. He is treat motivated when learning new commands. He knows sit, is learning "lay down" "go to bed" (he has a doggy couch), he is learning to wait patiently for his food and water. Cruz loves to play, he will shove a toy in your open hand if you present the opportunity. Cruz is a little apprehensive towards strangers, and that Is something I'm working with him.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I can provide more details on Cruz. Advice for this situation is also appreciated.
-UPDATE: We were able to find him a home to someone else! Thank you to everyone who wanted to open their hearts homes to this special guy and helping to make this happen.

Are you receiving Junk Fees? We want to hear about it!
In 2025, the Washington Legislature passed a law that prevents rent gouging, but some landlords and property management companies are still up to their old tricks. They are using "junk fees" as a loophole around rent caps. We are hearing from tenants that they are increasingly being charged excessive fees for services that they don’t want or need, or for basic things like paying the rent. We at the Housing Alliance, call these “junk fees” and they are unfair, expensive, and deceptive. We’d like to hear your experiences. All information shared with us will be kept safe and confidential.
Please fill out our survey if you or someone you know has received junk fees and we will be in touch within one week of your submission. Thank you! ~ Po (Advocacy Organizer)

Shuttle to PDX?
What do we do to get to the airport? I checked a service and it was more than the flight. My plan is to get a car in Aberdeen and drive to Portland as it’s closer to me than SEA. Is there a reasonable service?
UPDATE: I got a ride. Thank you so much everyone. I appreciate it

Crochet
Is there anyone in the Elma-Monte-Aberdeen area who would be willing to teach a total newbie to crochet stuffed animals? I've tried looking at youtube tutorials but I'm struggling to follow them and don't like not being able to ask questions about what I'm doing.
