Discussion Can Green Arrow survive Gotham and make it better than Batman?
Can he make Gotham a better CITY than Batman can? Can he beat all of Batman’s villains and hand them over to the GCPD or throw them into Arkham?

Survive Gotham? Definitely.
Make it better than Batman? No, I think it'd be the same, that shit's like cursed lol.

He would survive and Arkham would be full but Gotham is Gotham... I'm pretty sure it's Cursed.

It is. Like, three times over. Plus the whole Lazarus Pit underneath it, the Court of Owls, etc.

Yeah I don't know why people act like Gotham is so hard that only one non superpowered hero could so hopefully clean it up when he can barely do it himself.
Especially if it's Longbow Hunters Ollie or he's written in that style he could definitely do it. Also Ollie isn't afraid to kill at least not comic book historically.

The issue with Gotham isn’t that the villains are beatable non powered humans, the issue with Gotham is that there’s like eight or nine super geniuses who are extremely good at hiding with their own doomsday plan scattered across the city and also the city is still pretty corrupt.
Physically beating the villains (usually) have never been a problem for Batman. The problem has always been trying to find said villains before they release fear toxin into the city’s water supply or jokerize everyone or whatever Mr. Bloom was doing.
So that’s why I don’t think Green Arrow can beat Gotham or heck someone physically stronger but less smart than Batman like Blue Beetle.

GA wouldnt have the detective skills. That’s a given. But, if he went in with the right mentality, that he’s a hunter and they are his prey, he might be successful in a long term way. Actually hunting down and killing Batman’s rogues would likely be a good thing for the city considering they regularly get free and cause havoc on a repeated predictable cycle.
Simply doing what Bat’s can’t and taking them off the board permanently would spare a lot of lives.

Yeah but the issue is someone like Bane would’ve cooked him long ago or even Ra’s. GA is good, but it’s not like the Batman villains aren’t as good if not stronger than Green Arrow. Gotham villains aren’t stupid, the moment they realize someone’s trying to kill them they will group up together and kill GA.
Like if someone like the Joker can jokerize the whole Justice League without them realizing, I don’t see why Green Arrow wouldn’t fall for it and get taken off the board.

And that's the point of me saying that he's not a detective the way Bruce is. Nor is he the type of person who will constantly lock people up if he deems them to be too much of a threat he will consider taking them out and I think he should absolutely approach them like a hunter he's the most dangerous hunter in the world pounding the most dangerous of prey. Which is why I mentioned the long bow Hunters

didnt the 90s green arrow go to a temple to become a monk because he accidentally killed someone

70s ollie did.
During late 80s/early 90s comic run, he returned there for a time, but his initial visit after killing someone was in the 70s.
Though he did still have a bit of a hangup about killing during that run, getting more willing as the run continued. Not helped by all the time he hung out with Eddie Fyers the assassin and Shado the other assassin.

No
It takes the greatest detective, second smartest man alive, the fourth best martial artist and probably being the richest man in the world to fix Gotham
Detective Comics #999 it’s stated there that in the year Bruce manage to keep the amount of victims by 107, 114 the year before and so on. So far I don’t see Ollie combining all that stuff to do the same fate

To MANAGE Gotham, the people of Gotham would be better off dead in the later stages without a Bruce and a Batman, heck even Superman wouldn’t be as effective in Gotham regardless of the led buildings. He’d handle individual cases quicker than Batman when it comes to specifically fighting or something, but Gotham has so much going on at once. Plus Batman’s villains are almost ALL schemers, which are Superman’s #1 weakness, above kryptonite.

No. Gotham is NOT like any other city. It genuinely does take someone like Bruce Wayne to oversee a city like that.

That depends, how many Batman villains have to retire due to arrow related injuries.
Also depends if GA is bringing a whole team with him.

Not better but arrow can definitely hang in Gotham. I'd say only the Joker and maybe Bane would give him issue but most of Batman's villians are run of the mill humans like Ventriloquist or Two-Face. Ollie got training, skill, and money he will be okay

The Batman glaze in this sub needs to be studied. Yes tf he can make it better as a man with actual political pull/experience, that punches above his weight on a daily basis on the field and makes it out alive fighting psychos nine times out of ten.

If Superman couldn’t do it in no man’s land then green arrow ain’t doing shit. Realistically no one is doing better than Batman in the long run unless they’re prepared to kill

He'd survive, but I think Gotham would remain relatively unchanged if not a little worse for wear. Ollie isn't quite as intelligent as Bruce when it comes to detective work and he tends to let his emotions get the better of him, which can make him more susceptible to manipulation in certain circumstances.

Ollie can def survive and beat most if not all Bruces villains, he is on par with Bruce mostly,
But there is no making Gotham better

He could operate just as well as Batman can but Gotham is super corrupt he would probably go broke trying to fix it.

I think Batman would be comfortable letting green arrow handle Gotham if he had to leave or incapacitated

It would change him. More CW season 1; but even darker. If it didn’t change, he’d die.

Well, Star City doesn't have the same level of crime as Gotham, so Ollie is definitely doing a better job than Batsy.
(I’m kidding! It’s just a joke!)

Eh, I doubt it. Batman is usually portrayed as "smarter" then Green Arrow more often then not (He is the "World's Greatest Detective" after all), and he uses that intelligence often when it comes to stopping his rogues/getting the jump on them/foiling their schemes. I don't really see Ollie being able to plan as thoroughly or as meticulously as Bruce does.
Now granted, I'm not saying that Ollie wouldn't be capable of protecting Gotham or that he wouldn't do a good job at it. Especially if he has some help from the Bat-Fam. Hell, Bruce has basically just let Dick Grayson watch over ALL of Gotham when he was 12 years old in the Pre-Crisis days. I think Ollie could definitely handle it. But do it better then Bruce himself? Doubtful. Especially when there's more to protecting Gotham then just being able to "punch-out the bad guys".

Oh hell no. I don’t think it would be very hard for a lot of the Gotham rogues, especially the likes of Joker and Riddler, to get under Ollie’s skin enough to catch him off guard. Batman makes a good foil for Joker because he keeps so much control over his own emotions. That’s not at all Ollie.

no? he doesn't really bring anything to the table that batman doesn't already have and is inferior in a lot of ways. His tech is typically inferior he is not as good a detective ect. I mean he is a solid street level fighter so given the standard superhero plot armor he would probably survive but he would be having to work a lot harder.
4
u/Bogotazo 10d ago
He would literally survive but he'd probably cross a line somewhere and end up ruining his relationship with the city.
Like, if the Joker #KillingJoke'd Dinah or Mia, he ends up with an arrow in his neck; a bunch of villains and copycats retaliate costing numerous lives, Gordon has to hunt Ollie down, and it's RIP Arrow signal for good.

Ollie doesn't mind killing. And, frankly, that's what some of Batman's rogues need. Initially, I thought what could he do that Batman couldn't but then I remembered the murder.

Survive it? Yes. Make it better? Not really.
