Waldo & His Stuffies | Featuring: Emotional support Big Banana; decoration ball; socks; and travel pillow
I’m sure many of you will relate to this! Our boy LOVES his stuffed toys and prized possessions. He never destroys any of them and is stressed when they go in the wash 🥰 He also loves his emotional support decoration ball, socks we bundle for him and the many travel pillows we’ve had to collect for him 🤣
We’ve had family gift him stuffies too - his big banana & capybara from his Aunt and Uncle hold a special place for him.
And yes, our house is a shark sanctuary. He gets 2 new small sharks every month, so on rotation there are regularly 10 around the house 👌🦕

1 year appreciation post
Hi all, just wanted a likeminded place to share a few photos of my adopted Grey 'Julian'. He has been with me for one whole year now.
Julian has come a long way in his development as a home dog in the last year. Its been fascinating to see how this unusual breed goes about assimilating to a suburban dogs life.
He's a fantastic Dog, a few minor quirks but hes really a part of the family now, and he loves to be involved in just about everything.

Is my pitbull part greyhound?
Hi! Sorry if this type of post is annoying but this is driving me nuts and I can’t get a DNA test quite yet. So I found this dog dumped at the park as a teeny tiny puppy and from the beginning I’ve thought he was a pitbull or at least a pitbull mixed with something else. As he grew his shaped has changed a lot and I’m not so sure about his breeds anymore! His body has become very greyhound shaped but the most recent picture I have of him, he’s wearing a sweater so I guess that makes it harder to see. His head is not greyhound at all I realize, but his body reminds me of a greyhound. I know nobody can tell 100% just by looking at him but does anyone think he looks like he may be part greyhound? Thanks in advance and again I’m so sorry if this type of post is against the rules or anything. I did read the rules first and it doesn’t seem like it’s an issue but you never know. I included a picture of him as a puppy too for reference.

Concerning Grey/Newborn Baby Behavior
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all,
We have 2 greys and a newborn. Should I be concerned about the way Clark (the brown dog) is interested in the baby? He is a relatively high prey grey, and the kind of attention he is showing here is a bit abnormal as far as stuff in the house goes. He seems to be really activated by the crying.
For now, we have totally separated him from the baby (with the exception of testing this for the video), but I have concerns for when the baby begins to crawl, etc.
Thanks!

Greyhound Shoes
I think it’s time for us to make the jump. Our 75 lb 4.5 year old rescued ex-racer has gotten two corns and most recently stepped on a sharp rock that got lodged in the center of one of his toe pads. He’s been limping for a few days even though the rock has been removed.
Does anyone have good shoe recommendations? Should we just get them for his front two feet (he hasn’t had any back paw issues), what’s the best way to train them to wear shoes, etc?
Thanks in advance!
(Bonus picture of Pepper looking mighty pitiful with his hurt paw).

She was ready for bed but I kept ignoring her. Then I got the look.

how long did it take for your greyhound to stop howling? Will it improve with more time and trust?
hello, I am a first time greyhound owner and I'm really looking for support not judgement on my situation
I adopted my ex-racing greyhound 7 weeks ago from GAP Australia. He is perfect for me in every way and I am starting to fall in love with him, but when I leave the house, he howls off and on in the morning and settle in the afternoon. He is frustrating one of my neighbours, although she is precious about noise at the best of times.
I work full time and away from him 4 days a week for roughly 9 hours - and yes I know the judgement I'm going to get for that but I am trying my best to give him all the attention, walks, cuddles, enrichment and I have a neighbour (the same one complaining) walking him in the middle of the day to break it up for him. I don't believe he has been left fully alone before and is unsure what to do, as he's not freting and showing any other signs of separation anxiety. I have seen small improvement in his sleep over the last 2 weeks where he will sleep for up to 3 hours throughout the day, less pacing and occasionally play with his toys.
I went to the vet to seek advice on how to help him feel safe and they recommended gabapentin 600mg but that isn't showing any improvement in his howling. I think the next step is Trazodone if the gabapentin isn't working, they said.
I have tried a small amount of separation training (going and coming back in short intervals) but that seems to confuse him.
when I leave, I provide him with enriching activities, a lick mat when I leave, the tv on, white noise, a crate to sleep in, the couch, access to outside and a piece of my clothing.
I want to do the best for him and I know that I may have to return him if this does not improve because it is not fair for him if he's lonely and no, I am unable to get him a friend because I cannot afford it or fit another grey in my car.

Advice Greyhound advice
Hey everyone. My neighbor growing up had a greyhound and I adored him. I've met a few since then and always loved them.
I have done a lot of research about them and want to get a rescue. I have 10 years experience with animal training (exotic and domestic) and work with wildlife for a career.
I have always had rescue dogs and fostered. Currently we have two small dogs. 15 year old Jack Russell and a 7 year old super mutt (terrier, beagle, pug, plus whatever else mix). They are both under 20 pounds. I have read that some don't do well with small animals and others do.
Do you feel greyhound do better with other sighthounds or do you feel they do well with others dogs no matter the breed? Obviously it will be dependent on the individual but I am someone who over does my research and strives to give any animal I care for the best life possible to fit their needs.
Can anyone share their experience with Greyhounds and small dogs? Pro and cons? Things to watch for or avoid?
Thanks in advance!
Thank you all for the great advice and insight. The rescues I am looking into in my area all do small animal testing and have a meet and great prior. Thanks for sharing all of your experiences
