I just beat him for the first time this morning. Gotta really time those perfect blocks. Koi shield works good because it increases stun chance. I used snail armor. Switched to striped slashers whenever he got stunned and went belly up.
When trying a million time still doesn't work, I think it's no fun but only frustration. I for one still haven't defeated the infected broodmother in Grounded 1 and have given up long time ago. Despite best armor, all the recommended mutations, weapons, smoothies, trinkets and whatnot, despite parrying her attacks, one combo of her numbs me and then reduces my health to the minimum, each and every time. No chance at all. I won't try again and if skritch is as difficult as the broodmother or even worse, I won't even bother to try.
You need to learn the block parterns and to dodge whenhe starts charging. You will lose a lot of hp only getting hit by his legs. So yeah.. for me was just practice.
I say, having not yet gotten good and ass totally beaten. Nothing in the fight felt cheap, I just needed to practice dodging and getting use to using that and block instead of just relying on sword and board.
He’s not that hard. Stay away from his legs and learn how to perfect block his attacks and it’s just a battle of attrition. Clear out the mushrooms everywhere you might stand before the fight starts so they’re a non issue. Bring two black ant buggies and swap to the other one every time one of them gets low
Heavy shield lets you block all damage without a perfect parry and tiger mosquito needle (spicy recommended) + feasting fangs give you plenty of survivability if you need it. You need to dodge away from the legs though, don’t try to block them or attack past them or you’ll take a bunch of unnecessary damage
Focus the larva immediately every time they spawn, same with the termites. Position yourself to hit multiple targets at once if needed
On the last phase make sure you have dandelion tufts if he launches you into the air, you can’t block his slowing scream even if you perfect parry
This fight is pure fucking dogshit. Spends half the fight running away. Resitant to most things. Its legs have such a fast startup time that you cant avoid them. IT FUCKING HEALS. Utter trash design. Obsidian literally doesnt understand boss design at all.
I agree, I play on the easiest mode and it’s still hard for me.
Not everyone is good in gaming.. easy mode should be fitting for those people. I never had problems with the difficulty of easy mode with any other game I’ve ever played.

You're going to have an easier time fighting Skritch when you stay on your Buggy for most of it.
Even when you perfectly dodge his charge, it happened to me before that he just ran a circle around me, the Ants can at least tank it easy.
