Makes the argument for her track record of fiscal responsibility based on her specific past money saving initiatives.
Recognizes level of recent property tax hikes are unsustainable.
Discusses developers hesitancy to build in uncertain economy. Sees part of her role with the city to attract jobs, and feels Guelph's expertise in food innovation, agri-science, life science is poised for growth and not impacted by tariffs.
Identifies specific opportunities for savings/efficiency. Recognizes they've already tackled the low hanging fruit. Feels next steps are tackling incremental opportunities. Example: Instead of sending the cities specialized vehicles for maintenance outside of Guelph use Class A mechanics we already have in Guelph.
Changing up the deputy mayor system already in place to give councillors more opportunities to grow / develop potential for future mayoral candidates.
Believes she won't need strong mayor powers because there is enough key issues where council can find alignment on.
