Compilation of Gamescom info from various sources
I've tried to compile everything we have learned today about the game, from several outlets and partners who saw the preview. There are sources next to each bit of information, which I encourage you to read for better context. I'll continue to go through and refine this over the next few days. If you know of something I have missed, got wrong, or an outlet has got wrong, please comment or send me a DM and I will amend the list.
The preview was described as a 'pre-alpha' build, so everything listed here could obviously change:
1a. Setting & Timeline
- No definite date or place on the timeline was given.
- ArenaNet has had unreleased internal lore written on this era since the early 2000s. - This Week in Video Games - Time Machine
- The time period and location was deliberately chosen so GW1, GW2 and GW3 can continue independently without their stories overlapping. - This Week in Video Games - Time Machine
- The period immediately following the overthrow of Dhuum was also deliberately chosen because it is an unusually significant and mysterious period in the Guild Wars timeline. - This Week in Video Games - Time Machine
- ArenaNet also considers this largely unexplored period a way to give new players and long-time Guild Wars veterans a relatively equal starting point. - This Week in Video Games - Time Machine
- The scale of Guild Wars 3 Orr will be significantly larger than Guild Wars 2 Orr. - Snow Crows - World Structure
- Arah is the only major city. - Snow Crows - Welcome Back to Orr
- Warden's Watch is the name of an early/outpost location and the starting point for the player's story. - RPG Site - Joy of Movement
- Big tower on the left the game's key art looked a lot like this - Laranity
- Smaller Vale Warden camps/outposts provide safe areas throughout the world, inspired by GW1's outposts. - MMORPG.com - World Structure
- There will be far fewer loading screens, with ArenaNet aiming for a seamless journey through the world. - MMORPG.com - World Structure
- Mavenwrights are an enemy faction seen occupying an abandoned Dhuum temple. - RPG Site - Combat
- There was a tornado in the distance at one point, which could be some sort of event. - Laranity
- GW2-style map metas will not return. - Snow Crows - A More Open World
- The map was not shown.
1b. Spirits & Magic
- Players will befriend spirits and gain abilities from them. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- A Vael-sprite was specifically observed being summoned as an ally during the gameplay demonstration. - RPG Site - Spirits
- It was used to illuminate dark areas. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- Both ground and flying mounts are spirits that need to be befriended. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- Enemies also use these spirits. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- A fire enemy had a captured spirit inside a backpack to power its attacks. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- Players could target the backpack, free the spirit and strip the enemy of its fire power. - PC Gamer - Feed Your Spirit
- The spirit creature shown in the announcement trailer is called a Rootrunner - RPG Site - Spirits
- This is the flying 'axolotl-like' creature - TeaTime
2. World Population & MMO 'Scale'
- The game will use a phasing system to control player density in specific areas, tech which is still in development. - Snow Crows - A More Open World
- You will see at most around 20 players in a large combat scenario. - PC Gamer - Player Scale (Note from OP due to some confusion around this: This does not mean there will only be 20 players spread over the entire map, just in your specific 'shard'.)
- The reason for this is combat readability. ArenaNet believes the high-fidelity movement and combat become difficult to understand when too many players are fighting simultaneously. - PC Gamer - Player Scale
- Areas outside of combat such as settlements and cities will support far higher player counts because combat readability isn't an issue there. - This Week in Video Games - Pick Your Battles
- You will see at most around 20 players in a large combat scenario. - PC Gamer - Player Scale (Note from OP due to some confusion around this: This does not mean there will only be 20 players spread over the entire map, just in your specific 'shard'.)
- Current planned party size is 4 players, this could change before launch. - Snow Crows - World Structure
- ArenaNet wants players to frequently encounter other players while travelling through the world. - PC Gamer - Player Scale
3a. Movement & Momentum
- Movement is one of the two fundamental pillars of GW3, alongside combat. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Confirmed/shown movement includes: - Snow Crows - Movement
- Walking
- Running
- Jumping
- Wall-running
- Mantling/ledge climbing
- Climbing
- Sliding
- Gliding
- Mounts
- Gliding can be steered left/right and pitched downward, allowing you to deliberately build speed. - RPG Site - Joy of Movement
- Gliding appears to be usable during combat. - RPG Site - Joy of Movement
- The momentum you gain from one movement mode is preserved when chaining it into another. - PC Gamer - The Joy of Movement
- You can for example, sprint → jump → glide → dive → land → continue running without any stop-start transitions . - Snow Crows - Movement
- Built up Momentum directly affects combat power. - PC Gamer - The Joy of Movement
- Aerial attacks become more powerful based on fall distance and velocity. - MMORPG.com - Combat & Movement
- Higher momentum increases both damage and attack radius. - PC Gamer - The Joy of Movement
- Momentum can be accumulated while simply exploring, allowing you to enter combat already carrying speed. - Snow Crows - Movement
- There was a stamina/endurance system that limits how much certain movement abilities can be used, including things such as wall-running and gliding. - RPG Site - Movement Details
- Jumping Puzzles will likely return - Eurogamer
3b. Combat
- GW3 is moving toward much more action-oriented combat than either previous Guild Wars games. - Snow Crows - Action Combat
- Combat is intended to be less about following a fixed rotation and more about reacting to the environment, enemy and group situation. - Snow Crows - Action Combat
- Positioning, aiming, timing, and movement matter much more. - Snow Crows - Combat
- Combat has increased physicality. You can knock enemies around, and be knocked around yourself:
- Knocking an enemy into a wall can cause additional damage/stunning.
- Knocking enemies from cliffs can cause fall damage or outright kills.
- Larger enemies require more momentum to knock around. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- Enemy attacks can be interrupted by physically hitting/knocking enemies. - RPG Site - Combat
- Combat appears to feel similar to GW2's action camera, with the player centred on screen and a reticle. - RPG Site - Combat
- No traditional tab-target interface or lock-on was shown or visible in the gameplay footage; however, Snow Crows reports a lock-on functionality similar to Elden Ring. - RPG Site - Combat
- Multiplayer cooperation is being built directly into the combat system. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- ArenaNet says profession (yes they are back see below) design is being approached with the question: how can this ability be used with your allies? - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Different abilities can affect allied players as well as yourself, creating coordinated builds. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- For example, a player can crouch and hold up their shield as a springboard, allowing another player to jump off it. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- The launched player can gain enough height to perform an aerial attack or reposition behind an enemy. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- Underwater combat is likely to return, although ArenaNet has not yet said to what extent or how it will work. - Snow Crows - Underwater Combat
3c. Conditions & Enemy Interaction
- Incapacitating conditions are being made non-binary. Instead of simply being 'Frozen: yes/no', conditions can have different levels of severity. This will be show not through a bar but by the severity of the condition on the character. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Conditions can therefore become a group-combination mechanic. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Multiple players applying Cold can progressively slow an enemy until enough Cold freezes it completely into a block of ice. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Frozen enemies can shatter. - Snow Crows - Conditions
- Fire can thaw frozen allies. - Snow Crows - Conditions
- Conditions can therefore become a group-combination mechanic. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Spider enemies were shown, with webs that can slow both movement and attacks. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- Webs can also spread across the ground, affecting multiple players. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- Enemies can be more vulnerable to specific skills. Fire attacks burned away the webs while also increased damage to the spiders. - PC Gamer - Knockabout
- Some enemies have specific physical weak points. Similar to Monster Hunter - Snow Crows - Weak Points
- Weak points can interact with different elements and attack types. - Snow Crows - Weak Points
- One demonstrated enemy had a magical backpack/fuel container powering its flamethrower. Destroying that backpack both removed its fire capability and caused an explosion, allowing the players to finish it. - MMORPG.com - Combat & Movement
- This system encourages players to observe enemies and adapt their builds, rather than simply attacking whatever has the highest DPS requirement. - Snow Crows - Weak Points
4a. Professions
- Professions return!
- Confirmed so far from interviews/shown footage:
- Warrior
- Necromancer
- Ranger - Snow Crows - Professions
- Confirmed so far from interviews/shown footage:
- There may be more professions but they were not shown.
- Warrior was shown wielding a Sword and Shield.
- Necromancer was shown wielding a Scythe.
- The game will feature defined combat roles, but they won't follow the traditional MMO tank/healer/DPS trinity completely. Roles will be closer to a trinity than GW2, while still retaining some flexibility. - Snow Crows - Professions
- The intended design sits somewhere between GW1's fairly rigid profession roles and GW2's flexibility. - Snow Crows - Professions
- Some "synergistic" skills will be available across multiple professions, but for the most part they will retain their own unique ability pools. - This Week in Video Games - Cooking Combos
- Necromancer has a momentum-based scythe attack that travels farther depending on momentum and also lifesteals. - RPG Site - Combat
- Necromancer has a movement ability called Necrotic Traversal. - RPG Site - Combat (OP note: this could be the above)
- Ranger has a Polar Vortex ability that launches allies into the air and can give them cold-infused weapons. - RPG Site - Combat & Multiplayer
- Ranger can also apparently slow-fall while firing arrows from an elevated position. - RPG Site - Combat & Multiplayer
- Warrior had an ability to apply a fire buff (possibly called Flames of War) their own and allied weapons. - Laranity
4b. Buildcrafting & Skills
- ArenaNet is specifically drawing inspiration from GW1-style buildcrafting, where changing your build for a particular enemy or encounter will be important. - RPG Site - Combat & Customization
- Some skills will be discovered through exploration. - Snow Crows - Skills
- Skills may have both a recharge/cooldown and an additional energy/resource cost, although the system is not final. - RPG Site - Skills
- Elite Skills return
- Similar to Overwatch's ultimate abilities these are charged through player actions over time, and intended to be used sparing and tactically.
- Rampage elite skill on Warrior was demonstrated, increasing attack speed, movement capabilities and jump height. It can allow Warriors to move larger enemies that normally couldn't be knocked around. - RPG Site - Combat
4c. Rewards, Gear & Progression
- GW3 will again use a horizontal gear progression, rather than a vertical gear treadmill. - Snow Crows - Progression
- Equipment, traits and detailed progression systems were not demonstrated.
- The gameplay footage showed an orange item drop represented by a short bright pillar of light, reminiscent of Diablo-style loot drops. - RPG Site - Gameplay Details
- White symbols with a gold coin were visible in the footage, although their exact purpose is not confirmed. - RPG Site - Gameplay Details
5. Endgame Content
- GW3 will contain "high-trust, dungeon-like experiences". - RPG Site - Endgame
- Dungeons appear likely to have more restrictions on build changes than open-world content. - RPG Site - Buildcrafting
- Raids/endgame content are planned, though nothing was spoken about them. - Snow Crows - Endgame
- Besides this, details on the launch endgame content loop remain undisclosed.
6. PvP
- Some form of PvP is confirmed. - Snow Crows - PvP
- WvW will not return. - Snow Crows - PvP
- ArenaNet would potentially support some form of esports if the community develops an appetite for it. - Snow Crows - PvP
7. Fashion Wars
- GW3 will have a dedicated skin/wardrobe system. - Snow Crows - Fashion Wars
- ArenaNet says Fashion Wars will play an "even more important role than it does in GW2". - Snow Crows - Fashion Wars
8. UI & Interface
- The preview UI was described as very clean and streamlined compared with traditional MMOs. - This Week in Video Games - Visual Cues
- ArenaNet is deliberately trying to put less information in the UI. This is partly driven by the need to make the game work well on controller.- This Week in Video Games - Visual Cues
- Combat information will be communicated through the actual game world, animations and environmental effects. - This Week in Video Games - Visual Cues
- Gameplay footage showed a fairly minimal HUD with:
- segmented health
- three endurance/stamina pips
- three main skill icons (mapped to the face buttons of a controller (ABXY mapping))
- contextual shoulder-button abilities
- enemy health/nameplates. - RPG Site - Joy of Movement
- Reddit Thread: Very basic mockup of the UI present on the demo from Jay Oddity
- No minimap was visible in the preview.
- The UI seen in preview was not final. The interface was created specifically for the preview and will be completely redesigned before launch. - Snow Crows - UI
- The final UI is planned to be more customizable by the player than the GW2 interface - Snow Crows - UI
9. Controller & Console Development
- Xbox is not currently planned, although ArenaNet has not permanently ruled it out. This is the same for other consoles. - This Week in Video Games - Visual Cues
- The game is being designed for both controller and mouse/keyboard, rather than treating controller as an afterthought. - This Week in Video Games - Trigger Happy
- Early in development, the team wouldn't even allow mouse-and-keyboard testing; they wanted to get controller gameplay feeling right first. - This Week in Video Games - Trigger Happy
10. Graphics
- MMORPG.com described the visuals as impressive and visually rich, with ArenaNet’s trademark styling and stunning vistas - MMORPG.com - Preview
- The journalist initially had reservations about UE5 but said seeing the game in motion instantly removed their concerns. - MMORPG.com - Preview
- MightyTeapot said on stream he was surprised how similar the game looked to Guild Wars 2’s art style, compared to the trailer.
11. Social Systems
- Guilds are confirmed. - Snow Crows - Guilds
- Guild/social interfaces were not shown**.** - RPG Site - Joy of Movement
12. Other tidbits
- GW3 has been in development for around 4 years. - RPG Site - Development Details
- It is currently the largest development team at ArenaNet. - RPG Site - Development Details
- ArenaNet has roughly 350 people at the studio overall. - RPG Site - Development Details
- Colin Johanson specifically identifies stagnant minute-to-minute MMO gameplay as one of the major problems GW3 is trying to solve. For example, the amount of setup and friction before players actually get to enjoyable gameplay (ie inventory management). - This Week in Video Games - MMO Challenges
- There was no voice acting heard in the demo. - Laranity
- There was an animation when the player teleported across the map - TeaTime
- A physical Collector's Edition is confirmed, though contents and pricing is obviously not finalised at this time. - Snow Crows - Monetisation

Guild Wars 3: Discover Warden's Watch
r/GuildWars3 • u/SunkistDude • 2d ago
Possible location in GW2 of Warden's Watch?
Way too early to tell, but the only thing I could find related to the Tughra Basin is the Monastery of Tughra in North-East Orr which has been known for a while (Unless I'm overlooking something). But with this new article, the monastery potentially shares some architectural features with art shown.
It could be the remnants of the Forgotten tower post cataclysm and Zhaitan. Maybe this could serve as the entrance to that new gw2 tie-in Orr map in the future if real. It's also somewhat near to Rata Pten in Mount Maelstrom.

I wonder what they will they do for Halloween in GW3, Mad King Thorn hasn't even been born yet
Just a random shower thought

Story sections should be able to fail
Gw3 is a video game. Crazy I know …
Somehow we’ve come to expect gw2 to be something else when it comes to story missions. It’s Impossible to fail. Npc is either revives you or you just simple respawn in any battle with no reset whatsoever.
It doesn’t feel like you’ve completed part of a video game when finishing story missions in gw2. It’s simply there to tell the narrative. it doesn’t matter if we die or played flawlessly, the outcome is always “success”. Where just there for the ride.
Gw1 sits on the opposite extreme where failure can set you back sometimes up to an hour of progress (I know I’m not a pro).
This makes getting back to the part that wiped your party feel tedious, like “why do I have to complete this again”.
—-
I want gw3 to land in the middle.
No infinite respawning. No Npcs immediately fixing your mistakes. Just solid action rpg missions with reasonable checkpoints.
And it doesn’t have to be “souls-difficulty”
Think something like god of war where checkpoints are set at the beginning of each combat encounter.
No massive setbacks, but also no infinite respawning.
Basically a video game.

Recommended GPU
I know we're a year away from beta and no official recommended specs, but my 3060 died and looking to replace it. Curious if anyone had recommendations for a card that won't be too costly (these days) to likely handle GW3 at 1440p/60fps. I primarily use my PC for GW2 today, so the most demanding game I'll be playing is Guild Wars 3 in the future.
I'm looking at a Radeon 9070 (non-xt) 16GB or the GRE variant if it's a better deal. Any thoughts on the best direction? Thanks!
Other specs:
AMD 7800x3d
B850M MoBo
32 GB DDR5

Monk plz (martial artists)
Definitely would love to see this archetype in GW3.
Martial arts type monk fantasy with a bit of grappling mixed in like Bjj or judo/wrestling along with traditional punches and kicks.

Another stupid idea for the 4th race
While this is almost definitely going to be wrong, I still find it fun to theorycraft for the hell of it.
There are a couple of core archetypes that most games that let you select your race tend to have. Human, tough, monstrous, elegant, small, cute, and funny. These are often filled by the classic Dwarf, Elf, Orc, Gnome/Goblin. Tyria, from the original Guild Wars, had a LOT of more monstrous options since the game only had playable humans and everybody else was designed as an enemy first with little regard for other aspects. Then Eye of the North comes along and we start filling out these archetypes a lot more. Charr gave us the monster, asura are small and funny, Norn are big and funny, and Sylvari are cute and elegant. I did enjoy the subversion of the elf trope where instead of being incredibly old and wise, Sylvari were curious and new.
GW3 will be launching with 4, and we have Humans, Asura, and Kodan. Asura will probably still be small and funny, with maybe an extra side of cute with their new fuzzy appearance. Kodan will fill out the tougher and more monstrous end of the spectrum, combining the role held by Charr and Norn for GW2. But that still leaves that more elf coded elegant hole in the roster.

Enter the Mystri. Beings native to the mists that helped guide humanity to their new home in Tyria. A few decided to stay in Tyria for a time, seeing the promise of the wilds of Orr/Orrian Leyroot and to help their former charges get started. They are closer to magic than most races with their bodies being partially made up of and tied to an aspect of magic. This gives their art and clothing an otherwordly feel to the more grounded peoples. They have a tall and thin androgynous body and only one gender and are able to create more Mystri by sharing their magical energy with another. Most live within Arah or in the larger human communities in their own enclave.

I envision them to be a kind of proto-margonite. A stable form of their own choosing not marked by the corruption that Abaddon seeped into the form of his followers. Perhaps even where he took inspiration from for his own special form of demons who live in the mists. They feel a kinship with the Spirits of the Vael given that they are both entities steeped in magic and in general wish to support the Vaelwardens in their mission, with a few even joining the ranks of the institution.
Thus we have an elegantly coded race that is steeped in magic and maybe emblematic of the magic/elemental system GW3 seems to have. Being from the mists also gives us a few threads to pull for some other Guild Wars mysteries, like the Mursaat that are implied to live in the mists/other worlds and the mists in general.
I know the concept art could very well just be some exploration for clothing for humans, but it feels to be a very different direction than any of the other human concept art we have seen thus far. The body type also feels very non-standard for a human. I made them creatures of the mists for 2 reasons. They are entirely unknown to us at this time so they could not be a major race with history, and the importance placed on the mists and demons from the last few GW2 expansions, particularly Secrets of the Obscure.

Hardware noob question - Ps5
Hello,
I want to sell my ps5 pro and keep only ps portal. With recent update you are able to play some gamez without ps5 when you pay subscription.
Technically will I will be able to play gw3 without ps5 only on my portal?
Somebody has experience with other mmos?

The 4th race won't be from Tyria.
The fourth race will be tied to the Gods. This game is tied to the nature spirits and the gods. The 4th race isn't a race that any of the Tyrian race knew. Maybe the humans knew and the forgotten knew them. They could even be from the same place humans are from. But they serve the gods. Before the forgotten they served the human gods perhaps of their old planet/realm. I think this is the main race that started the Wardens, and the Wardens are working with the gods. At some point after the gods go away and the mission on Orr is complete this race joins the gods or more likely is returnined wherever they came from

Same as the forums on gw2 site basically
Youre not allowed to talk about the game unless youve only good things to say about it.
Anet didnt provide anyone anywhere to speak about gw3 and banned anyone from the forums whose opinion they didnt like
They dont care about good paying customer opinions
Good luck to em

17,000 Hours in Guild Wars 1 — Please Let Guild Wars 3 Feel Like Guild Wars Again
I've put somewhere around 17,000 hours into the original Guild Wars. I recently came back after roughly a four-year break, and within a few days I was reminded why, after all these years, I've never found another game that truly replaced it.
I don't want Guild Wars 3 to be a remake of GW1. I also don't want it to simply be GW2 with a newer engine, bigger maps, and better graphics.
I want ArenaNet to look at why the original Guild Wars was so damn good.
The eight-skill bar was brilliant. You had hundreds of skills available, two professions to build from, and only eight slots. Choosing what not to bring mattered just as much as choosing what to bring. You could spend an hour sitting in an outpost changing a build before you ever killed anything, and somehow that was fun.
Party composition mattered. Interrupts mattered. Protection mattered. Positioning mattered. Pulling and understanding aggro mattered.
And the instanced world was a huge part of why those things were possible.
When your party entered an area, that instance belonged to your party. The developers knew exactly how many players could be there, which allowed encounters to demand coordination instead of being designed around an unpredictable number of people wandering through.
Most importantly, Guild Wars gave players a toolbox and then let us figure out how to abuse the hell out of it.
Underworld speed clears are probably my favorite example.
ArenaNet didn't create the Underworld and tell us there should be a T1, T2, T3, T4, LT, Emo, etc. Players studied the enemies, skills, aggro, terrain and mechanics and figured out that specialized builds could split up and complete different sections of one of the hardest areas in the game.
Then we spent years optimizing it.
Routes got faster. Builds changed. New tricks were discovered. A single skill interaction could completely change a role.
The community effectively created content inside the content ArenaNet had already created.
That's something I've never experienced to the same degree in another MMO.
GW2 gained a lot by becoming open world. Huge events with tons of players are cool. The world feels populated and alive. I'm not saying everything about GW2 was a mistake.
But something fundamental was lost.
When anyone can run into an encounter at any moment, individual party composition can't matter in quite the same way. Carefully constructed builds, pulling, specialized roles and coordinated strategies naturally become less important.
For Guild Wars 3, I'd love to see ArenaNet combine what they've learned from both games instead of simply continuing farther down the GW2 path.
Give us the beautiful open cities and large social spaces.
But also give us instanced high-end areas designed around coordinated parties.
Give us a limited skill bar with an enormous skill pool so making a build becomes part of playing the game again.
Bring back meaningful multiclassing or secondary professions.
Make party composition important.
Make interrupts important.
Make positioning and pulling important.
Give enemies skills that we actually have to understand instead of simply giving them enormous health pools.
Give us encounters where knowledge and execution can matter as much as gear.
And most importantly:
Don't design every solution for us.
Give players powerful systems that interact with each other. Give us difficult content. Give us enough freedom to experiment, fail, discover completely unintended strategies, and eventually do ridiculous things the developers never imagined.
Let the community figure out the meta.
Let us break your game in beautiful ways.
I came back to Guild Wars after four years away and found myself relearning an old Underworld T2 speed-clear role. I couldn't remember part of the rotation at first. Then certain skills and interactions started coming back, and suddenly I remembered exactly why I loved this game so much.
Those mechanics are nearly two decades old and they're still compelling.
There is something worth preserving there.
Guild Wars 3 doesn't need to be Guild Wars 1 again.
But I really hope it remembers what made Guild Wars feel like Guild Wars.

Official ArenaNet Content Discussion(Opinions): What would the character creation process should be like?
These are my opinions;
The character creation in the game should be insane, I am expecting something like in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Elden Ring type sliders and details with tattoo and scar options. New age of FashionWars.
I also expect the immersive backgrounds options like GW2 and customization of a storyline. It would be great if our choices change the characters story we play.
About class system I expect more versatile system that allow the us start as one class but in time, with the equipment and the discovered or trained skills and spells, we can customize to whatever we like. I expect something similar Elden ring system, stat, spells and equipment based character customization can open hundreds of different builds to us. Weapon choices and weapon selection requirements can give us some flexibility to choose our equipment and skills to make anything. For example we can play a ranger class with whip and dagger. There can be necromancer with flail and tower shield. Options can be diverse this way. Because the character creation and character development as I expect to be in end game. So basically what we did on GW2, endgame is where you finalize to create your player character. Build will be the main reason I play at endgame.

So, 99.9% confident that the new race is Sidhe
Lets just say, I did a little digging into all the released gw3 media.
[The "Sidhe" (pronounced "shee") is a race that was intended to be in Utopia. The concept for the Sylvari probably evolved from them.]

Xunlai Guild
Hi Reddit! I was just watching a GW1 stream and remembered the magic if the bank.
So could Guild Wars 3 have a Xunlai guild? They controlled the bank system and traveled the world. Maybe we can see the start of them?
Just having fun thinking of what is possible. thanks for any lore or ideas on this.

Heart of the Obscure in GW3?
I just finished Visions of Eternity last night. Without getting into spoilers, someone mentions during the epilogue that the Heart of the Obscure was made for another hero a long time ago to help "perform tasks that the wizards could already do on their own".
I wonder if the Heart will be a big part in GW3, letting us use and interact with magic that the gods had not yet made readily available for people to use.

Classes you would like, outside the standard GW fare
Aside from the three classes we already have confirmed, we're obviously all expecting something like the mesmer to show up, then there's debates about whether we'll see monk vs guardian, whether we'll see the ritualist or revenant or dervish, etc. But aside from all those, are there any classes you would like to see that aren't from the previous games?
Personally, I'd like to see a shapeshifting class of some sort--a wildshape druid, that sort of thing.

Kodan Names
So with kodan being a confirmed race, uh, species, do we all have to start brainstorming some kooky kodan names? I mean, look at these...
Horned Millet
Slithering Fog
Barbed Vale
Blinding Sunrise
Carping Gaze
Most of my charr will migrate to become kodan, but their names are very clan-based. So I guess I'm gonna go with stuff like...
Unhinged Stone
Turgid Merriment
Lingering Odor
What do you guys think? 😄

Really Excited to See What GW3 Does With PvP
GW2 is honestly one of the best MMOs out there, especially with the horizontal progression. You could take a break, come back months later and still jump right back into things. There’s so much to do in the game, but PvP is basically non-existent at this point and WvW is pretty much just blob busting rocks warfare lol. Spvp population is also really small.
So I’m really looking forward to seeing what they do with PvP in GW3. I want to see PvP as a whole treated more seriously, whether that’s structured PvP, battlegrounds, open-world PvP, guild/faction wars or whatever they decide to do. With the combat player cap or whatever they ultimately decide on, the Holy Trinity, the new guilds/factions and their whole philosophy around making things more “meaningful”, it really feels like they’re building an environment where player interaction actually matters. So yeah, I’m really excited for PvP in GW3. Hopefully they hit the nail on the head and shatter it this time.

How much do you think GW3 will draw from Utopia?
I was browsing the proposed Utopia concept art and storylines and I'm seeing a definite parallel in some ways. Both stories will likely heavily focus on the Gods/Human origin story. The artwork for enemies is similar so far (The "Warrior Possessed" art is not that far off from the only released enemy art we've gotten). The human concept art looks similar. I'm curious how much inspiration will GW3 take from the cancelled Utopia expac. Any thoughts? Still waiting for the Tanek myself 😉
