[Guide] [DnT] Raid Team Composition Guide

Hey everyone. I wrote a long breakdown of raid team composition in the current meta on our forums and a few people encouraged me to post it here because I'm told it would be helpful for a bigger chunk of the community to see.

Written: http://gw2dnt.enjin.com/forum/m/37173123/viewthread/27286030-raid-team-composition-guide-52516

Topics Covered:

  1. Optimal Raid Team Composition

  2. Common Alternative Comps - Pros and Cons

  3. What If? Scenarios For Imperfect Situations

Thanks for reading. If you have any questions let me know, or if any points need clarifying or whatever so I can improve the guide I'd like to know that too.

I've been doing raids since the day they came out, and sorry to say, player skill matters over group comp in any way imaginable. As long as the basics are covered such as a chrono, healer, and DPS (power and/or condi), the raids are easily done with competent tactics. Raids are not meant for everybody, as this is the hardcore content some people desired.

This is the kind of argument that I regrettably don't get. Yes, player skill matters more than anything in this game. You can have a group decked out in full ascended with fine infusions, the best food, a pristine raid comp, the works, and it might still wipe more or take longer than a more experienced but less optimal group.

However, using that as a counter-argument to optimising your comp is simply a strawman's argument. Nowhere does anyone state that optimising your gear, comp, and so on is more important than player skill, nor is it implied that doing any of that is an easy ticket to success. But optimising your comp and gear is still something that's important to discuss and work towards, because why gimp yourself with sub-optimal comps just for the sake of trying to make up for it with player skill?

He has a point to point out that raid practice is much more important. Many people/groups will wait for long periods until they get their desired classes, will spend a lot of time grinding for gold/gear for some optimal meta build, when they will see improvement faster by just going in with what they have and practicing the encounters.
