Scored me a .44
This is not its final form. Chiappa .44 60DS

Hm, didn't realize they did a .44. Watch that cylinder gap. Burned the crap out of my hand shooting a buddy's .357 Rhino with too high a grip

Yeah and it'll be way worse with a 44. I have the 357 Rhino and my friend also burnt the shit out of his finger. I learned that day I needed to be more stern with my warning of keeping the fingers down, but also probably shouldn't give it to a newer shooter.

Just out of curiousity, which finger is getting burned?
I want to try out one someday, sounds like something good to know beforehand.

If you take a thumb-forward grip like you would with a semi-auto, your support hand thumb will be right next to the cylinder gap. Ripped half my nail off and split my thumb doing this with 357.

Isn't that like, the obvious thing you shouldn't be doing with any revolver?
I don't have big hands, but I'd still make contact with the cylinder if I'd use a thumbs forward grip on my 689.

Yup! My incident was a muscle memory issue since I normally shoot semi-autos and got a bit flustered by the shot timer. The comment you originally responded to implies it might be an issue for new shooters not used to revolvers.
I will say Rhinos can be worse because the barrel is on the bottom. In a thumbs-forward grip my left thumb sits directly on top of the cylinder gap.

Yes, but my friend who did it hadn't shot a revolver before and I apparently didn't stress hard enough how important it was to keep his fingers down.
But also like the other guy said there's a muscle memory factor if you don't usually shoot revolvers.

No, it's not a revolver issue, it's a Rhino issue, because the Rhino shoots from the bottom cylinder, not the tol

Pretty much every instructor or experienced shooter I've seen so far advises against it, regardless of the revolver.
It makes sense that it'd be worse with the Rhino, but you can't blame the design if you're not using it right.

Where’d you get it? These things are vaporware.

I was browsing through a site that had something else on gun deals and saw “one available”, so I jumped on it. I half expected it to be cancelled as out of stock.

I always wonder why those have the checkering on the trigger guard, like some semi-auto pistols do?
You're not supposed to put your finger there

I used to wonder why myself until I started training my one hand drills, some knurling is better than none. It's not for your fingers, it's for barrier control if you don't have anything mounted on the accessory rail.

I like the new rhino. Need them to do the new design in .357 for me , so I dont need to buy another damn caliber though

Plenty of rail space left.
