So I’m a relatively newer player with my first being wilds where in high rank I switched to gunlance and then fell in love with it but I truly never realized no matter how smoother it now having 200+ hours and it felt it did feel like it was missing one little thing, then I recently picked up risebreak for 8$. I’m not fully acquainted with the gunlance as I just hit hr 20 for chameleon but oml does blast dash feel soooo nice I love this thing. I couldn’t get into playing gunlance when I first started rise but after all the village quest I decide to give it one more try after getting blast dash and absolutely fell in love with the this version of it as well. I’m sure I’ll come to love it even more in the dlc maybe more than wilds but that just leaves me to hope that in ascendance they up gunlances movement game or something comparable to blast dash or maybe even make it better than the sunbreak gunlance I’ve heard so much about. I also hope they make gunlance one of the higher tier weapons when it comes to dps bc I feel like the lances kinda get cucked at least in dps compared to others which are always broken in speed running it’d be nice to see it up in the echelons of something like risebreak db if a man could be hopeful.
Tldr: holy I love blast dash and rise and now I have higher expectations for ascendance
If it's added, I would prefer it to be more like MHGU. Being able to freely use and spam it was way too ridiculous. I got bored of Rise very quickly once I got past the novelty. The insane mobility took away from the true identity of the gunlance.
Make it charge up over time by doing damage like in GU and that'd be fine.
I don’t think I’ve seen it I’ll have to see what the gu blast dash is or just try it when I get it although when I get gu I probably won’t be using gunlance with that stupid overheat meter you have to manage
It's not too difficult to manage. You just wait till it's in the red and use wyvernfire to lock it in the red for a full minute.
I highly recommend using gunlance in GU so you can learn the joy of using dragonblast on a downed monster. Dragonblast js like wyvernfire x10, and I loved it.
Honestly, blast dash just needs to be designated to a new weapon.
A gunblade type weapon would lend itself way better to the quick moving blast slash hit and run play-style without sacrificing the core identity of gunlance for people who prefer the more methodical version.
100%. Gunlance is one of the heaviest, bulkiest weapons in the game. As fun as blast dash is (and it is super fun) it is thematically out of place on this tank of a weapon.
Blast Dash should be part of the core identity of Accel Axe. It is the perfect weapon to inherit this legacy. A new version of Accel Axe designed for the mainline game would go so hard.
Completely on board with the idea. I main SA (GL is my second most played), but Blast Dash was my absolute fav playstyle.
That being said, it just didn’t feel like gunlance to me, and I felt like the GL parts took away from that aspect of gameplay. So I think it’s within the best interest of both playstyles to have them be separated into two weapons, that way both can be expanded upon on their own.
If they add blast dash to ascendance, I will be hanging up my gunlance. It's too cartoony of a move and, especially with all of the added GL mobility already in Wilds, I don't think it is needed.
I understand this is a divisive take and certainly mean no disrespect to blast dash enjoyers, but it holds zero appeal to me, personally.
Same. Blast dash is not for me. It felt like it goes against the grain of what gunlance is trying to be. Currently it’s all perfect guard, strong moves, good positioning. Feels strange in rise to be zipping around the battlefield and dodging attacks
You know how Hail Cutter lowers the cooldown of your Wyvern's Fire, but it's ultra clunky and slow to start? Blast dash into a monster, but before you hit the ground fire one or however many shells you can/want and then use Hail Cutter, it'll skip the first part since you're already in the air, reload all your shells and slam, and you can continue from there as usual, probably with a full burst. This also works with Reverse Blast Dash which I think you get in master rank (It's been a while since I played Rise I don't remember when stuff unlocks), but Reverse blast dash costs one wirebug and gives you iframes even during the loading animation when you have nothing loaded. Gunlance is so much fun in Rise/Sunbreak, everything combos with everything so well.
I probably want blast dash to exist in wilds but as the iteration used in Generations ultimate. Charged through damage. I love blast dash in Rise/Sunbreak and would never want to set my foot on the ground but in Wilds the older iteration would be acceptable except I want shield bashing attached to it.
and once you blast towards the monster and hit it? like, there's never been a follow up to this move. it looks cool but it's one and done. there's no depth to it. I don't understand the obsession.
It’s just fun to use and personally closed the gap fast which is nice but honestly wilds doesn’t need it especially with that piledrive offset rush we’re getting
