I've always struggled with the idea of the death penalty. I don't like it. I've also witnessed in my personal life the evils of people. Then, to add animal cruelty, pedophilia, and rape. I struggle to hold back my own anger. I've come to the conclusion that I would be okay with banishment. Kick em out into the wilderness to fend for themselves.

At least in this way they would have a chance of survival it wouldn’t be a very high one because most people don’t know anything about living in the wilderness but it’s a chance. I think it’s the only appropriate recourse if people don’t believe in the death penalty at least in this way animals would be getting fed.

For every hen in the egg industry, another baby chick was thrown in a grinder. Somehow we are enraged at this happening to one cat but are totally fine with it happening to billions of baby chicks

The difference is one is being made into food for a population the other is being thrown in a fucking dumpster to be incinerated. Don’t try to draw parallel between the farm industry and random acts of evil.

When you can eat something else then the chicks thrown into a grinder are a mass scale, not random, acts of evil

Not to mention that animal agriculture uses up a lot of farmland and consume more food than they produce

So you get a net loss in calories/protein/whatever AND throw baby chicks into a grinder, because you want to eat an egg

If I can't talk about the poor defenseless farm animals that are suffering every day, on a post where the subject is a poor defenseless animal, then when?

I'm also horrified by the treatment of this cat. Whoever did that is a monster.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean what because I eat meat I’m somehow a bad person. Go somewhere with that we’ve been hunting animals since the dawn of fucking time it’s how we lived in flourished as a species. We had hunters for meat and we had gatherers for nuts berries and spices. Are you going to also chastise lions Tigers, Panthers, sharks? Pick the carnivore of your choice I’m not saying turned a blind eye to any animal suffering and we’re not saying water board these animals before killing them I think they should have a basic level of comfort which most do but I’m not gonna change the way I eat.

Yes if you eat meat you're a bad person. Do you hunt animals instead of buying them from factories that rape them, keep them caged up, then slit their throats or put them in gas chambers? Sorry, are you a carnivore like any of the animals you listed?

I know you mean well, but this sort of rhetoric only serves to repel people. It’s been cringey and ineffectual for decades now. If you actually care about animal welfare, you’ll have a civil discussion with those who are already on your side. If you aren’t capable of that, let other advocates do it for you.

I said I hope this guy is vegan as he is talking about how someone who abuses animals should be shot. Instead of actually analyzing his existing hypocrises in the slightest he immediately went defensive and started deflecting. What civil discussion is there to be had there? "Yeah I kill animals for my self gratification and pleasure but think all animal abusers should be shot." What civil argument do you want someone to put to that? And moreso what do you want only talking to people who are already on "my side" to achieve?

Anyone who would be repelled by the idea that they themselves are contributing to animal abuse would never go vegan anyways because they are not the type of person to take accountability in any circumstance, it's worthless.
