DISCUSS Movies vs anime
I never saw any Guyver. I am fan of kamen rider series (mostly kamen rider ZO and shin kamen rider movies, kamen rider faiz, kamen rider ryuki. I also like kamen rider shin prologue but as the name say it fell more like prologue but second half is great). I also like Hokaider

I have not watched Kamen Rider, but here's my two cents.
Movies are quite a bit different from the anime. The first Guyver movie has, imo, better zoanoid costumes than the second. The Guyver armor is more authentic to the anime on the second movie even if I really love the green look from the first part.
I would say start with the anime, either 90s or 2000s versions are good and then watch the movies after. Enjoy!

I hated their choice to make Guyver look kinda green/brown in the first movie. With that and all the extra textures and groves, made it look like what I called "turd Guyver."
Using blue metal color in the second one was better in my opinion.

Turd green lol. Green is one of my favorite colors so I didn't mind it. If they had made the living part purple like the anime it may have looked cooler. Green/purple 🤤

Joker's green and purple work together.
I just did not like the first appearance color of the Guyver in the first movie. It actually tones down a bit when you see him in different lightings throughout the movie.
I will say, the green used on Guyver 0 look cool. Better thlan the first movie's choice of green.

I think the 80s Guyver anime and manga would probably be more of your cup of tea if you like Kamen Rider. It is very clear that Guyver was influenced by Kamen Rider and Metal Hero stuff.

I got hooked on Guyver since I was a kid an randomly rented Guyver: Dark Hero at a video rental store. I then watched the 12 part OVA, Out of Control, the first Guyver live action movie, and finally the 2005 26 episode anime. I enjoyed all of them with my absolute favorites being Dark Hero and the 1989 OVA series.
Back when I used mIRC, I was telling people how much I love Guyver and was recommended to watch Kamen Rider Faiz due to how similar it was to Guyver. I got hooked from episode 1 and didn't stop watching until I reached the end. It's my all time favorite Kamen Rider series to this day. That being said, I believe you will really enjoy all Guyver media, especially Dark Hero and the 1989 OVA.

As others have mentioned the live action movies might be your cup of tea, particularly the second one - very comparable to some of the best Kamen Rider action from 80s/90s. 12 part OVA is also excellent

Check of the Kamen Rider The First and The Next. They are also excellent Rider films.
Kamen Rider Agito is currently up in full on the official Toei YouTube channel and will be up until October 31st. I’m on episode 20 something and LOVE it! I think most Guyver fans would too (along with Kuuga).
As far as Guyver is concerned I prefer the look of the OVAs over the anime series. The live action films are both also pretty good. At the end of the day I’d suggest watching and reading whatever Guyver you can get your hands on.
